This is a rep reward for Ashen Verdict, inside ICC. You get a ring at Honored, Revered and Exalted. The quickest way to obtain this ring is to form a 10m, and farm trash to the first boss... over and over and over!

The proc from this ring is Frostforged Sage. So far I've done limited testing, but it appears to proc less than the typical trinket.

Actually, that's incorrect. You get your first ring at friendly status, not honored.

I'd also like to add that I was able to have this effect proc after casting Curse of the Elements, which is not an actual damaging spell. I suppose by "offensive spells", they literally mean everything that isn't a helpful spell. In other words, if you can cast it on a hostile NPC or player, it has a chance to proc.

Furthermore, I have done the testing. It has a 10% proc chance and a 1 minute internal cooldown.

First, to Psilocybian. You are correct on proc, and CD. In my opinion both seem appropriate given how good the proc itself is.

You get THIS version at Friendly, THIS version at honored, and THIS version at exalted. There are no daily quests, or rep coin/item turn-ins to increase rep. Currently on live the only way to gain reputation with the Ashen Verdict is by killing trash and bosses in 10man ICC and 25man ICC.

Somethings worth noting:

- Similar to Sunwell, it is possible to farm the trash leading up to the first boss.. exit the instance with out killing the boss, and reset the instance to do repetitive rep farming. The "legality" of this method is becoming a subject of debate, though as of this post blizzard has not said it violates the rules.

- You do not pay gold to get your ring. When you reach each reputation milestone you will be able to turn in a quest inside the instance where upon completing the quest your old ring is removed from your character/bag and replaced with the new ring. To be honest, I do not remember if Ring enchants carry over with the new ring, but I would be ready to re-enchant just in case.

- It is possible to change your rings provided you have the required reputation to have one. You may complete the quest: A Change of Heart + 200 gold charge, but no items need to be completed.

Many people on servers are known to form "rep grinding" ICC runs for the rings. They are, at revered/exalted Best in Slot for all classes.. and as such, are considered a must have.

and Finally, when you acheive Exalted reputation with Ashen Verdict you receive an acheivement, and new title.

Proc uptime will be

U = D/(c+1/vp)

Where U = uptime
D = duration of buff
c = internal CD
v = # of chances the item will proc in a given second (the inverse of your cast time)
p = proc chance

So the average +sp for this ring will be

U = 10/(60+1/((1/1.75)*0.1))

Given a 1.75s cast time (Arcane Blast with ~850 haste)

This works out to 12.9% uptime, or 36.8 average spell power.

Rep farming could not possibly, in any way, violate the rules. If they didn't want us farming trash for rep, they would have made it so that only bosses give Ashen Verdict rep. Either that, or made it so that ICC doesn't reset when you reset all instances. I doubt it was their intention for people to gain the majority of their rep this way, but they also knew when implementing this faction and the methods used to gain rep that players would take advantage of this.

On top of that, it's in the game and is not an exploit because you simply use basic game mechanincs to do this form of rep farming. Most exploits require you to go against the core mechanics of the game. If this was not permitted, they'd either say so, or patch in a hotfix to make it so that we can't do it.

Is it just me, or is "Unmatched" an odd descriptor choice for second best ring in the set? Then again, Ashen Band of almost-unmatched-but-there-is-one-slightly-better Destruction probably doesn't strike quite as much fear into the minds of your enemies.

Apparently I have a bugged version of this ring. The proc is called "Abominable Might” (an attack power proc, according to the tooltip), except when I look under Melee I’m not getting Attack Power, and under Spell I'm not even getting Spellpower. I think this ring is Broken; at least for me it is.

Iv seen it Proc its not that often and not long but when it activatesa red Ring's will rise up around your toon

The proc from this ring can happen at unexpected times. For instance, it happened when using the Disciplining Rod on an Exhausted Vrykul for the quest Maintaining Discipline.
