Dropped for me on my 9th raptor or so. Not sure if I was just REALLY lucky or if it's the same drop rate as the Deviate hatchling from Wailing Caverns (which I got around my 250th kill)

Just this second had this drop :)

Did one clear of all the raptors in the area and decided to have a bash at soloing the boss, slaped on my prot gear and we're away... Sadly made the mistake of not clearing the mobs around (other than the raptors) and died. Ran back in determined to try again and found that all the raptors were back. Forgetting my vendetta agains the Bloodlord i started again with the killing.

Only took 3 more raptors for me to get the drop, estimate around 25-27 raptors in total.

Took me about 9 runs to get it, had to wait outside due to "You have entered to many instances recently"
i killed the groups in mandokirs room and the pack of 3 in the room prior to that, so a total of 21 mobs per reset.

Went to IF after I got and managed to sell it for 1k in a matter of minutes.

I got this in the middle of my third run (about 50 mobs in). Given this and the other posters' drop rates, 1% seems like a good guess for now. Something to keep in mind is that the stacking disease also decreases your armor, so cloth and leather especially should be careful.

There are no others on either faction's AH on my server now, so the price is anyone's guess. The other raptor pets are on the AH at 4k on my server.

If this pet is really a 1 in 100 drop I and many others are unlucky as hell. I have done 9+ runs and so far nothing. Obviously this might be considered spam but until we have hard data this anecdotal evidence does have some benefit.

A friend and I run zul'gurub every now and then for mount runs. We never cared if one of these dropped, and it wasn't ever on our minds. We only kill one set of raptors each time, just to clear the corner for the raptor boss... so... since these pets were released, we've killed maybe only 10-15 raptors at the very most. This guy dropped tonight.
Not sure how much they sell for on my server.

you don't even need to wait for those 30 min. Simply kill all the raptors, run out of the instance, switch to 5-man normal, switch back to 5-man heroic, and all instances will have reset, including the raids (not bosses ofcourse).

I just got one, and since I'm not a completely crazed pet collector, I decided to sell it on the AH. I ended up selling it for 2k gold. So IF you really really need gold (ie, epic mount, greatness deck, etc), you could use the techniques from above posters to farm 'em. Shiny goldz :Dz

These are not worth 5K gold. The the only reason they are is because gold farmers are stockpiling them to sell and they spoon feed them to the AH to drive up the price. You can easily get one for 1500 gold maybe better if people stop getting so money hungry. Do dailies and stop being lazy.

Farming this fellow is a true gold mine. So far I have maybe farmed 5 hours in ZG for reputation, killing the raptors and resetting again, and this is what I got:

4x razzashi hatchling=4000g.
about 1000x rugged leather, selling now for 1g each=1000g.
countless of grey items, estimating 120g.
dozens of greenies, disenchanted worth about 500g.
2 blues, worth together about 125g.
IF I chose to sell the bijou's: 152x bijou= 1500g.
coins don't sell...
35x powerful mojo: 210g.
1x aquamarine: 6g.
I also looted about 40 gold but that pretty much covers the repair costs.
and who knows what one may find if you also have mining...

All together, that adds up to about 7661 gold in 5 hours= 1532g and 20s/hour.
not bad...

It seems that I got really lucky with this one. Was clearing the trash packs for the pet (on my way to attempt to get my tiger mount, working on it for months, still no luck) and got it on the second to last raptor pack.

The Razzashi Hatchling dropped on the 18th raptor I killed. I went straight for the packs of six raptors. I soloed this on my well geared 80 hunter and didn't die. Just dismiss your pet, run past the champions and FD if you aggro them. I just had to wait for the disease to wear off after each pull. Good luck!

resetted zul'gurub over 40 times and no pet dropped.Killd around 25 razzashi raptors each reset,still saw some gauy that has gotten 3 of those raptors over a shot period of time.Am i extreamly unlucky?drop rate was nerfed?Is it 1% drop?Or meby it dosent drop when i reset zul gurub?i just have to wait for the to spawn agin normally?pls help.

Mount up and head directly to the 3 packs of 6 raptors. The raptors scattered around ZG with 2 or 3 other mobs are a complete waste of time.

You can be mounted and ride directly past EVERYTHING with limited riding skills. Should take you no more than 2 mins to get here.

Died first attempt doing this with a warlock using a felhunter pet. Each subsequent time I used a Voidwalker which will hold all of em for a good 20 secs before he is toast. You really have to nail your rotations to stay out of trouble. The first 3 or 4 need to die quick b/c they put up a stacking defuff on you that will start ticking hard if you draw multiple aggros.

It's solo missions like this which made me choose the warlock class in the 1st place.

Also note...let the debuffs tick off before you pull the next 6. Once all 18 are dead: mount up, ride out, and reset instance.

For those who are intested, I am a U25+ geared Retribution Paladin. I am in and out, killing 30 of the raptors, in 10 - 15 minutes per run. If you are as fast as I am, do NOT skip raptors. If I skipped the 12 that come with other mobs, I would be in and out in ~5 minutes. That's all fine and dandy, expect for Blizzards lame 5 Instances/Hour limit.

So, my advice to you, don't skip the raptors, kill all 30, not just the 3 groups of 6. Along with the more chances, you won't get locked out or only be locked out for a few minutes if you do, and the extra Bijous and drops will net you quite a bit of gold.

I've been farming this a while now, and I got the raptor over a month ago now, and haven't seen one since. I'd like to know I'm not wasting my time, is this one of those items that doesn't drop anymore once you already have it? I expect it isn't but I've killed more raptors than I like without seeing one.

Ok plz dont get mad but after reading all these post about the pets. I was like what the hell imma go and try. Well i get there and wander around for bout 30-45 mins trying find the stupid raptors. Well i got very lost and happen 2 see a single raptor so i blast it and to my amazment there the pet 1st raptor ever killed there. Which for me is amazing since ive spent 100+ runs trying for that stupid baron mount with no luck. Also been tryingfor gun in H Toc for moonth with no luck so im not a lucky person.

And so u know the going price for this pet if u can acually find someone selling is 3k+ on my server

These are amazing to farm I just make a raid with a low level and go and farm these babies

They drop far more often than you would think and sell them for 1500-2000G ea I've probably made over 8000G off them

You can farm boss room without pulling any humanoids if you are level 80.
Just ride to the Bloodlord Mandokir's section. Move between the humanoids waiting on the sides of the entrance. They won't agroe. Stay in front of the 1st 6 raptors. And kill them.
There is a coumn behind that group. You can pass through that column and the wall to reach the 2nd group. And to reach the 3rd group you can go between the humanoids group and the stairs. They wont agroe for sure.
I farmed like this 4 resets and the instance won't allow me at the moment.
Made 4 runs in 1 hour and I get the error
"You have entered too many instances recently."
Aware that happens.
Btw I am lvl 80 hunter pulling mobs with MD'ing to the tanking pet which is a bear.
Only problem is
suffers 200 Nature damage from Infected Bite.(50 Resisted)
And this stacks up to 5times stays for 3 minutes, which can't be purged without BM hunter talents.
Edit. BTW that aware that infected bite interrupts you while bandaging urself or pet.

If you're hunter and you saved your 2 piece Tier 5, this is very easy to do. Get a tenacity pet, MD it and volley. Easy way to blow through the area and either reset it or kill the boss. Got mine on the first clear today.

Easy to farm. You run right to the packs of Raptors, I kill the groups with trolls in them too, and blow them down and be out of the instance to reset it 5 times an hour (This is a limitation the game puts on how many instances you can start an hour).

What makes it worth it is the rep items you get along the way still sale to rep grinders quite well if you find a buyer lol.

I've been told if the Raptor boss is killed you can still soft reset the raptors (30 min), good to know.

I just entered this 4/14/'10, and cleared boss room. I wasn't trying to farm it, but I was there for the boss...

I pulled first pack of raptors, nothing.
Second pack of raptors, here and behold, I had TWO drop in ONE pull. First run, first clear.
Third - none

Anythings possible. Don't go to ZG hoping for the pet. Go to ZG hopin for the mounts. Clear trash anyway <3

Well I found TWO Razzashi hatchlings after a casual raptor mount run with one of my buddies and we were both pretty thrilled, but after I found out the drop rate I was ecstatic to just stumble onto this pet out of nowhere than to spend 3-4 weeks farming for it

I killed roughly 100 Raptors before this dropped. The Raptors are really easy to farm as a Shadow Priest. Pre-buff PW:S and Abolish Disease, and then Mind Sear away.

My husband and I would go into ZG every once in awhile to kill the bosses for the mounts. Even moreso now that ZG is going away in Cataclysm and we probably won't be able to get the mounts anymore. As part of our run, we'd kill a few packs of raptors. My husband is a big pet collector and wanted this pet, and I was indifferent. I didn't have to have it, but if it dropped, I wouldn't mind keeping it.

After numerous runs, my husband was really getting irritated that he hadn't yet seen this pet drop. I figured at one point that I'd probably never see it myself. I just didn't run ZG enough to have any good chance at it.

Tonight, I went in there to solo the place. My husband had finally got the pet yesterday. I wasn't going to kill raptors at first, but I figured since I'm there, I might as well. First pack killed, nothing. Second pack killed, nothing. Third pack, one dropped! Two corpses later, a second one dropped!

So now I have a little pet I can sell on the AH. :D

I've been farming this one along with mounts for quite a few time and during the last 3 days I saw it drop 3 times(1 was given to a guildy that was boosting my alt at that time) while before that I only saw it drop once a while after it was added to the game.I know RNG is random but I wonder if anyone else noticed increased drop chances?

The lack of any Basic knowledge on probability is astounding

remember the first rule, each time an event happens , the probability is reset

so if your on your 10th or 10,000th kill the lileyhood of one dropping is still 1 in 100 asuming a 1% drop rate.

take tossing a coin, for example, if i throw 10 heads in a row , i am no more likely to throw a tail on the 11th try than a head, the same principle applys to wow.

I must have had amazing luck farmed this for 2 weeks and not a lot and got 8 drops. Used one for my warrior since i am a pet/mount collector on him.

also sidenote, that same week got the raptor mount and the kara mount to drop in one week.

so what do people really think these things are goign to worth post cata? ive heard anywhere from 20-100k. I myself think that the market will be flooded right after ZG is taken out. but after the dust settles im think 15-20K thoughts?

This pet may be obtainable in Cataclysm after a long quest-chain in STV that is currently uncompleted, that has you raise a Razzashi hatchling who turns out to be Oghan's heir, and is stolen from you..

Without spoilers, you fail at retrieving the pet initially but it tells you to come back when you're stronger -- sadly, currently even at 80 and 85, there's still no continuation of this epic storyline.

They may add it in the future - this quest evoked so much emotion from me that I now *must* see to it that the storyline is completed.. the line has an abrupt end, with hints of it not being over yet.

Got one from a Skullsplitter Scout while questing in Northern/Stranglethorn. Guessing from the random drop locations other people are reporting, it's probably a .1% chance to drop off of any mob in Northern/Cape of Stranglethorn. Not really bad for those of us who want pets, but where's the logic of a gorilla having a dinosaur pet?

This pet was previously dropped by raptors in Zul'Gurub. In patch 4.0.3a, Zul'Gurub was removed from the game as a raid and the razzashi raptor was supposed to be discontinued. Luckily, the pet was not discontinued and it is now a zone-wide drop for all of Stranglethorn Vale. The drop rate is not known, but it is likely it is 1 in 1000, the same drop rate as the other zone-wide drops.

You didn't hear what he said. At 1 in 100, there's a 99.993% chance he would have found it after 950 kills. This is correct. 1 - 0.99^950 = 0.99993.

Like the hyacinth macaw this seems to have been changed to a zone drop for both Stranglethorn Vale regions. Still looks to be a fairly low drop (I killed around 400 mobs when I got mine), probably still in the range of 1:1000.

I am having no luck with either this pet or the macaw. I've grinded out over 4000 Kurzen Soldiers (probably closer to 5k), and over 1000 trolls from the Ruins of Zul'kunda, and absolutely nothing so far, except a First Mate's hat. I was happy the hat dropped when I learned it's drop rate, but I've had no luck selling it T-T.

I did hear what he said, and I know his maths where right. But 99.993% is 13999 in 14000, so about 13999 in 14000 people would have had the pet drop if the drop chance would be 1 in 100. He said that because there was a 99.993% chance that the pet would've dropped for him if it would be 1 in 100, it must be 1 in 1000. I just said that he could be unlucky, as with millions of people playing there is a very good chance that some people have the unlucky odds of not having it drop even though the chance of not getting it with 950 kills are 1 in 14000.
I am not saying the droprate is 1 in 100, I just said that he could not conclude that from him being unlucky with it dropping :)

the math looks like overall it is a 1 in 500 drop rate. Probably not necessary to camp mobs that have a seemingly higher drop rate right now on wowhead as that is probably just some ´luck´ based on the rare drop rate being so low and not having a lot of data yet. It is doubtful that Blizzard programmed certain mobs higher than others.. looks like just any mob has a chance to drop them. I would find mobs that have a high density and a circular pathway so by the time you finish a lap, the old ones have respawned.

Has anyone seen this little guy drop from the 'instant respawn' pirates at (49,38) in Cape of Stranglethorn? I've killed 2619 of them so far (working on rep for Goblin Cities at the same time) without a single drop. If not, can anyone suggest another area with lots of mobs in close proximity (or instant respawns) to farm him? Thanks.

I got my raptor pet! In total it took 6218 kills. I've done the majority of the farming at the "instant" respawn place (49,38)

I've made ~~over~~ roughly 2k gold in cloth/greens/blues in the process. This is no trip for the faint of the heart guys, come ready with a gallon (or two!) of coffee and plenty of snacks.

Now, time to farm the bird! ;)

By pure LUCK I was dinking around in the AH looking at pets and dreaming of having enough gold to buy those I didn't have when all of a sudden.... there were 2 of these pets for only 20g each! Lol, I was killing Bloodsail Buccaners for reputation to Booty bay, and on one of the Bloodsail Buccaner's ship is there an iron golem helmsman. "Brutus" is his name. I just killed him for reputation and when i looted him, there was the hatchling at the first try! I didn't realise he dropped companions. :D

Got mine near Grom'Gol from a Mosh'Ogg Brute while questing. I would say between 5-10 kills of that particular mob, so extremely lucky.

I was looking for tiger meat to cook my skills 225, then I thought it would benefit me more if I had a quest along. Took a quest to kill 10 young panthers, thing dropped, I thought, how nice! And *use*.

Thought I'd do a post laying out the different color variants of the hatchings, having recently completed my collection. I won't get into where each one comes from, as each link has plenty on that.

It's interesting that some of the hatchlings have very defined stripes on their backs, while others have less defined stripes and more like splotches/lines of color.

They are:
Darting Hatchling - Orange with cyan stripes and green eyes
Deviate Hatchling - Purple with cyan stripes and yellow eyes
Gundrak Hatchling - Cyan with dark blue splotches. Yellow eyes.
Leaping Hatchling - Dark Cyan, almost slate with violet splotches and yellow eyes
Obsidian Hatchling - Olive and sort of grey-purple with aqua splotches and yellow eyes (and round pupils, oddly enough)
Ravasaur Hatchling - Lime green with orange stripes and squinting orange eyes
Razormaw Hatchling - Light yellow-orange with blue stripes and green eyes
Razzashi Hatchling - Red/Burnt orange with green splotches. Cyan eyes.
Lashtail Hatchling - as the unique reward from An Old Friend, your 'aka has a slightly unique model. She's a bit bigger than the others, and has a more defined "beak" color. She also has large round eyes with round black pupils, whereas the others have the classic dinosaur thin line pupils. That aside, her colors are almost identical to Razzashi's, but with much larger stripes.

Most of the hatchlings do an idle roar(more of a screech really) animation/sound, with a few exceptions. One wanders around and leaps back to you with a screech when out of range (Leaping), one will tear off running around with a dust trail a la Egbert (Darting), and Lashtail reportedly will play with the bones of your fallen enemies.
(I could have sworn I'd seen a raptor other than Darting do the run but couldn't get him to do it, would like confirmation if anyone sees it)

In less than 5 minutes, I get two of this , by killing tigers, the first step of the hunting quest(tiger one)

I was lucky enough to get one of these while doing a ZG run. It dropped off one of the raptors in there.
