As far as other minor glyphs go warrior's have got it pretty good, thunderclap and battle are very nice buffs to those skills that will be used very often. The others are situational but are still more useful improvements than merely cosmetic

To comment on the usefullness of this glyph, I do not think it's a "must" for a Prot warrior, or any other spec as well.

If you are good enough as a Prot already (given that your group are not total idiots either), the monsters should be on you always. So the extra range isn't that necessary.

Perhaps it wasn't intended for PvE use, those mobs are always going to stick to you if you do your job anyway. Keeping in mind that thunder clap doesn't have a target limit anymore, 10 yards instead of 8 may just score you way more damage especially in a pvp setting where they just don't stand close enough. It's in no way game breaking obviously so it deserves to be just a minor glyph.

TC does way more damage now as well with AP scaling, it's instant, does not distribute its damage evenly among targets so more range = more targets = more damage = more people slowed and hurt.

This glyph increases the area of effect from 201 sq yards to 314 sq yards, an increase of over 56%.

I like this glyph quite a bit. It can mean the difference between having to run or charge to something that got past you (example, adds in Violet Hold, or the snake boss in Gun'drak) and just Thunder Clapping and having them come back instead of eating your healer. For PvP, this can mean the difference between most of a Hunter's snakes dead, or all of them. It can mean the difference between a Rogue stealthing away, or a Mage slipping by with Invisibility.

It's pretty solid, and there's not much that actually improves your character aside from catering to laziness.

This is not so good as many people said, 2 yds is very short range, I say, you ar good if you notice it practically.
Anyway, AoEs are usually used to hit more enemies with one attack (or spell), NO to hit enemies in further range ;-)

I don't feel like this is worth a major glyph slot. The other majors for tanking overshadow this one, IMO.

For comparison, another AOE spread-the-dot(s) type of ability is the DK's pestilence. There are numerous differences between pestilence and blood and thunder (one being an ability and another being a talent) so they shouldn't really be compared, but consider that pestilence's radius is 10 yds baseline and 15 yds glyphed, compared to blood and thunder which is 8y baseline and 10y glyphed... both glyphs are majors.

If this was still a minor glyph, it deserves a spot for any warrior tank with an AOE or hybrid build.

In Mists of Pandaria this glyph has changed.

OLD: Glyph of Thunder Clap - Increases the radius of your Thunder Clap ability by 2 yards.

NEW: Glyph of Unending Rage - Increases your maximum Rage by 20.
