I would have to agree i killed a whole mess of Shoveltusk and I only got about three =/. I'm hoping they fix this.

The droprate is far better than what is listed on wowhead. I went and killed Shoveltusk Foragers around Steel Gate and out of 25 only 10 did not drop the flank.

Droprate outside Westguard keep and howling fjord is ok. 6 out of 10.

So far I've found the best place to farm these is around Westguard Keep. There's herd's of Shoveltusks around the area (40,41 for those with coords) with very good drop rate on the flanks.

I've found that 76,63 is a great place to find the meat. Keep on the look out for the Storm Giant that comes by though, he'll smush you >.>

drop rate listed may or may not be accurate @ 40%--- i do know it doesnt take long. i've just finished farming 80 flanks in 23 minutes (started blessing of sanctuary when i started). Howling Fjord. Farm them from the sea north to nifflevar. the heards have like 6-8 mobs each and are super easy to kill if you can aggro all at once. For you paladins, i suggest landing in the middle and dropping conescrate- grab the outliers with avengers shield or a judgement.

While the Shoveltusk Foragers seem to have a slightly higher drop-rate they tend to be singular.

Your best bet for farming these is definiltely using AoEs on the big herds of Shoveltusk. They die to an 80 very quickly.

I could easily rake in about a stack of this stuff in a few minutes from the Shoveltusk herds in southern Howling Fjord. (as a Balance Druid back at level 72)

I suggest farming them if your AoE abilities are good (or even average).

Somebody ran through this page and downrated everybody I assume.
And so will this.
The drops rates on these are quite high along with all the northrend MEATS.
Eggs however have a low drop rate on most mobs.
This is a good post, nothing vulgar, inappropriate, not spam, advertising, but if the rate it's at right now... this will be greyed soon enough.

Go to Howling Fjord and look for groups of Shoveltusks and Shoveltusk calves, AoE them down and try to get Shoveltusk Stag´s too while AoEing.
Doing this i got 80 Shoveltusk flank´s in about 30 minutes. GL farming :)

Yes, Farming Big groups is big meat, going for 60+G per stack on my server ( Epic flying here i come!)

Did anyone else notice a change in patch 3.1? I just killed some shovel tusks around New Agmand and they dropped chilled meat instead of flanks. What gives?

Edit: I decided to kill some more to see what dropped and it looks like the flanks are now a lower drop, with Chilled Meat being what drops instead. Weak.

My experience is the south east quadrant of HF is awesome for farming these, around nifflevar to the explorer's league outpost. Lots of herds that can be very easily AOE'd down. About half an hour and had 44 flanks. They also dropped chilled meat as well, so bonus if farming mats for Great Feast

I went around 76,63 in Howling Fjord, buffed meself with Mark of the Wild (i'm a Feral dps druid) and started farming the flank. After 25 minutes i had an total of:

60 Shoveltusk Flank
20 Chilled Meat
3 green items (These sold for 9g together)
20gold from selling the grey stuff

Supplying Shoveltusk Steak to a friend for spell power is quite easy. With whirlwind and slam as a Fury/Prot warrior is good fun, especially when the crits are rolling in. If the shoveltusks don't drop this, then they drop Chilled Meat.

TAKE A SKINNER! If ur gona b farming a lot of these it is very good to take a skiner, firstly they get $#!t loads of leather and possibly some fur (that they can split with you) and also the mobs will respawn faster (i think). All in all, much beter.

for me best place is around 68,69 There is a lot of shovetusk familys around.
And if u haven't done archivment Friend or fowl? then u can do that also there.

This meat does *not* drop from Longhoof Grazer in Grizzly Hills.

You'd think it would, but it doesn't.

A friend of mine passed on a friendly tip on farming this stuff. A good concentration of Shoveltusk is located S-SW of Vengeance Landing. You don't have to be near it but it's a landmark to follow. On my server there's hardly any up so it's open to make bank on. Classes with AoE can pull groups of 5 or more easily and the respawn is pretty decent.

To farm this you need to fly to Howling Fjord (MAP https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/maps?data=495:439601). Kill Zannapiatta Predatore. Very easy to farm when you are 85 ;) good luck!

Dropped from the various types of Shoveltusks in Howling Fjord. Nice drop rate as well...got about 5 of them right off the bat (In about 3 minutes)

well I'm not usually 1 to post. BUT, the Shoveltusk Flanks were listing for 49 gold per 1 on our AH and their were several hundred people posting these crazy prices so I decided to farm them myself.. JUST so you KNOW these are NOT rare.. They drop from all the Shoveltusk in the Howling Fjord by the HUNDREDS.. I spent approx 20 min killing the Shoveltusk and they all drop the Flanks (not just the Bulls) and I got over 200 Flanks in approx. 20 min.. I was using them to level my mages cooking and I was able to go all the way to 450 skill in cooking with what I had collected in approx 20 min.. The AH prices are crazy.. ignore the people that want to RIP you OFF with outrage / inflated prices that are stupid.. spend 20 min of your game time and go kill the Shoveltusk yourself..
