You do not have direct control over these critters, they just start fallowing you for 3 minutes as if they were your pets.
There is also an achievement to "capture" 10 critters in 3 or less minutes.

Be carefull with these , if you throw it a a critter next to an agressive mob it will aggro .
Not only will you lose your campanion ;'( but the mob will also come after you .

as a hunter my meat loving pets enjoy these, they are quite easy to make in large quantities which is useful.

Possible to use it on Mr. Bigglesworth in naxx tho he will despawn after critter bite fades

Using these for pet food would not be totally recommendable, as they use up Northern Spices. Cooking Northern Stew may be more optimal, as it only uses one Chilled Meat.

Be careful! Unlike normal vanity pets, pets created using these WILL AGGRO aggressive mobs!

Just did the achievement by gathering a ton of penguins and thought it'd be funny to stealth into Valiance Keep and let the alliance see a dozen penguins running around. The guards killed one or two penguins and then came after me while I was stealthed. Massive failure.

One of the best ways to get the Achievement, is to find an iceberg full of penguins (as some of the screen shots show). Quick and easy.

Rogues' and druids' stealth will break if you're under control of any critters and go near mobs while stealthed, happened to me today.

For people on the crowded servers, do not try the Critter Gitter achievement out on the Turkeys in Howling Fjord, as there will be people fooling around trying to get an achievement for massive destruction of turkeys, instead of loving and feeding them as we, the critter bite-throwing treehuggers do. Instead, go to the south coast of Kamagua / the northern coast of the scalawag point isle, and collect crabs. Crabs are not as fluffy, but usually less dead.

I personally love running around elwynn (sp?) with a herd of cows all around me and watching all the alliance sit and wonder " WTF crazy troll". I also love going into AV and taking over the rams In there, rather large for critters but they make great meat shields.

These things appear to proc weapon enchants and trinkets. I've had my Black Magic, Abyssal Rune, and Ashen Verdict Ring all proc from just gathering critters.

Unless they're deers, creatures controlled won't follow you when you're mounted.

Best place to get the "Critter Gitter" achievement is in Borean Tundra. Head south on the map until you find the giant floating icebergs, there should be 10-12 Critter (Penguins) that are stationary. Completed the achievement as fast as it took for 10 global cds :)
