I would like to note that you CANNOT stack several glyphs of the same type to increase the effect. Upon attempting to inscribe a duplicate Glyph at the Lexicon of Power you recieve the message:

"That Glyph is already inscribed in your spellbook."

i´m a sub rogue and i had the glyph and the imp gouge...

and regret ever trying the imp gouge, when you are a sub rogue you wanna kill them before they even know what the hell happened. The element of surprise is a powerfull thing, with this you get the 20 energy buff but you just give him almost 6 seconds to think how to scape or counterattack! -.- ...

although the glyph itself is usefull as an interrupt or for killing mobs if you also have https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/item=42956. I don´t recommend the combination with imp gouge at least for sub rogues (especially if you have hemo)

while costing only 30 energy, gouge will nicely complement your cast interruption toolbox.
even without the talent, this allows for some incapitation right when you need it.

This glyph is now one of the best ones to get as subtlety if you have specced into imp gouge since you dont use deadly poison and can cc/interupt with it every 10 seconds while it gives you 25 energy back which is massive and allows you to restealth in a duel or any 1v1 situation as well.

in cataclysm Improved Gouge plus this glyph. So it will be a free 6sec stun, good way to get like what 60energy back if u back up during those 6sec maybe 80

A change for gouge glyph in one of Cataclysm beta builds:

Gouge - Your Gouge ability no longer requires that the target be facing you.

Sounds kinda interesting.

Not worth a Major Glyph.

In solo PvE, your enemies are always going to be facing you, so landing a Gouge isn't a concern.

In group PvE, it might come in handy if you need to interrupt a cast and your Kick is down, you don't want to spend your combo points on a Kidney Shot, and you don't particularly feel like moving around to the front of the enemy. Or perhaps if the healer is getting beaten on, the tank is asleep, all your cooldowns are cooling down, and the split second it would take to get in front of the enemy is more than the healer can take. I can't think of much else.

In PvP, provided you have no option other than to Gouge, it could be useful for stopping people who are running away from you or interrupting an enemy cast when even a nanosecond counts. The added protection against latency is a perk.

But that's about it. For the most part, if a melee class is meleeing you, they will be facing you. If a caster is casting at you, they will be facing you. If a caster is casting and you don't want them to cast, it's usually not a chore to land a Gouge, even if they're spinning like a Whirling Dervish.

There are far better options for both PvE and PvP and I would pass this one up even if I had a fourth slot.

Quite a useful glyph for interrupting on the Sinestra encounter, as using actual interrupts/stuns doesn't quite work very well there.

It can be very useful in PvP to prevent kiting.

Edit: This also allows it to be used right after a shadowstep, which can come in handy.
