Not very useful to lvl 80 PvE Smite Priests but I could see this work better when using Smite as a PvP spell. 50% isn't much tho.

I think that some glyphs are aimed more at helping players who are finding it difficult to level find it less difficult by adding bonuses to particular spells like this.

I can see this being useful in arenas as Disc or Holy if most people don't have it. If most people don't have it, people will sometimes kick your Smite to lock out Holy - and then you have a 50% chance to put their Kick on cooldown without actually getting locked out. Good as a poor man's fake cast once per rogue.

On the other hand, Glyph of Renew probably still beats this.

This will be very helpful leveling a priest, it will be decent PvP but not awesome. It will also get more people to level disc/holy so that there will be healers for instances/raids pre-80.

This Glyph is broken. It clearly does not do what it is supposed to do. I've tried it out, with a mob continuously attacking me while I was using Smite, and every time I got hit, the cast was slightly delayed.

I highly suspect the actual effect to be a reduction of 50% in the time lost when hit while casting, meaning I would lose .25 seconds each time I get hit instead of .5 seconds. That's how most talents seem to work nowadays. Either that or the Glyph simply is broken.

This glyph was changed in 3.1 to "Your Smite spell inflicts an additional 20% damage against targets afflicted by Holy Fire."

Suddenly, Shadow doesn't seem like the only leveling spec in town. The 3.1 change to Spirit Tap made my mana pool cry, even with VT. I'm seriously considering a Smite build for leveling now.

EDIT: At level 54, I picked up new ranks of Smite and Holy Fire, so I gave this build a try: 23/19/3 and I was quite pleased with it.

Ok, at 80 you don't need anymore to level up.. but still.. I think this glyph could be really useful while farming and questing (yeah people at 80 do quests).

This is a rocking pvp burst glyph also, with about 2100 sp, searing light and holy fire on target the smites hit for around 3k each.

It's very useful to give people a shock in 2s with burst :).

Get this as soon as you ding 15 20 (you dont get holy fire until level 20!)because you will be smiting A LOT through the levels until you go shadow which you should go upon hitting level 60.

i think this thing is great... in my present split spec...

The reason I like it is because... my gear is not up to date, i'm still leveling, and i need dps.

I tried shadow for dps, tried discipline for dps, discipline sub shadow for dps, holy for dps, discipline sub holy for dps... others have had better luck... they must play the builds better.

me... well... after skada... i can see my discipline sub shadow was at 680dps with my gear, and with this new build, it's 944dps spiking at 1800dps plus now and then.

As a Offensive Disc Priest in PvP this Glyph is very useful and a must. Especially in 2v2 Arena.

No comment about the synergy between this glyph and the latest changes to Evangelism/Archangel for disc priest?

I didn't test it yet, but I suppose that 20% more damage will also do 20% more healing for the Smite. You can cast at least 2, maybe 3 Smites (with enough haste) during the 7 seconds of the DoT. And because there is not much choices for major glyph as disc priest (divine accuracy and prayer of mending are obvious choices for Atonement spec but then there is only dispel magic, mass dispel and inner fire), this could be a viable option ...
