Ok, with the glyph the spell will go like this:

From 15 to 12 seconds, which means from 5 to 4 ticks.

Using the rank 14 of renew (https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/spell=48068), which gives 280 per tick.

40% of 280 is 112, so 280 plus 112 is 392. This means that each tick will heal 392 HPs

392 times 4 will be 1568.

Comparing to the non-glyphed renew, this one will heal 12% more.

The only thing that I'm thinking is that less time = more casts = more mana spent. While ~300 more is ok, in terms of PVE my Renew will either heal or it won't, and 300 more per tick won't save anyone. However, cutting time off of the end of it, and thereby making me spend more mana over a fight isn't worth it to me.

IE: if I cast it every time it falls off for a minute, it would be 4 times per minute normally and 5 with this; over a 10 minute fight, that's 40 vs 46...over 3k extra mana. It's not game-breaking, but I'd rather just keep the mana and my normal Renew, because as I said in PVE for me, it's not exactly a heal I rely on solely.

That said, I'm sure there are fights where this would be good, and I'm sure it's good for PVP and those who "clip" their Renews, but I foresee this being bad for mana consumption (especially when there are arguably better glyphs.)

Personally I found this as a unneeded mana drain. I use renew as a mana efficient way to let me ignore the person a bit to give me time to do heals. I'm not actually using renew to heal, I'm looking for it to keep em alive while I'm regen'ing or casting my heals.

In pvp though, this inscription is by all means a must as most heals will be coming from instant and HoT's

With the new Holy talent Empowered Renew,

"Empowered Renew, Tier 9, 3 point talent - Your Renew spell gains an additional 5/10/15% of your bonus healing effects, and your Renew will instantly heal the target for 5/10/15% of the total periodic effect."

I am curious to see if this glyph increases the instant healing amount. I will post my results shortly...

EDIT: After spamming renew on myself with the glyph and discovering that the Empowered Renew effect was healing me for exactly the same amount every time, I removed the glyph and tried again. The amount being instantly healed did not change, which means:

A) Blizzard forgot. (I've opened a PTR ticket just in case)
B) Or more likely, the glyph was never intended to change the amount the talent healed, even though the talent's wording suggests it should.

It does incerase a healing a bit tbh i think its determined on PvE on this exsist simple carculator lets imagine it without "any" Spellpower.

Renew rank 14 = Heals 1400 hp over 15secs so:

1400 / 15 = 93,333 hp per second

Now Lets apply glyph:

93,333 * 1,25 = 116,66625 hp per second --- 116,66625 * (15-3) = 1399,95 so 1400.

So base healing of unglyphed renew is 1400 hp over 15secs.
glyphed renew is 1400hp over 13secs.

Healing by unglyphed renew per tick is 279,999-280 ingame.
glyphed renew per tick is 349,99875-350 ingame.

So only thing what this glyph do, is incerasing amount healed per tick-amount healed is same.

I think Renew is a great healing spell, but I have a lot of questions about it when you add the talents and the glyph. Mostly, I am wondering how this glyph interacts with spell power and the coefficient.

The duration would still be considered 15 seconds for calculating the coefficient? Otherwise, this glyph would reduce the spell power bonus.

Also, does the instant heal from Empowered Renew change the coefficient calculation because of the instant effect? Does it make it similar to a hybrid?

This Glyph is great for Disc priests. With the 2/2 talent Grace, Your Renew ticks get a 9% bonus per tick, which is guaranteed when you launch a full volley of Penance. This causes the ticks to be larger than even the initial due to the glyphs effects, and are a very secure source off solid sustained heals.

Actually with empowered renew this glyph is good since you can recast it sooner on the same target.
so if glyphed renew, heal for the same amount of tick in 12 sec rather than in 15 sec. and that empowered renew heal, as a direct heal, for another thick, then recasting it after 12 will give you another direct heal tick plus 3 sec later another tick...
so if you follow me: then a straight renew heal for 5 tick in 15 sec while an empowered glyphed renew heal for ALMOST 8 tick within the same lapse of time.
N.B.: I say almost since there is a delay between renew end and recasting that I assume would take almost a sec more:)

using this tactic with circle of healing and glyphed PW:shield make me first healer in every AV I was from lvl 55 to my current lvl 58.
and with test of faith, casting PW:shield then renew on near dead target is quite effective, beside the chance of procing surge of light.

As of 4.0.3 with the chakra effect of "every time u cast heal, it automatically refreshes renew" every holy priest should be getting this glyph. You could essentialy go an entire fight while only have to cast renew once at the begining and just refresh it by casting heal the whole time.

Renew as a holy spell is extremely underrated right now, and all those healing ppls shoud really check into it more.

In Mists of Pandaria this glyph has changed. The straight healing bonus is gone. The new one is similar to the previous incarnation of Renew that buffed the ticks but changed the duration.

Mop: Glyph of Renew - Your Renew heals for 33% more each time it heals, but its duration is reduced by 3 sec.

Cata: Glyph of Renew - Increases the amount healed by your Renew by an additional 10%.

Pre 4.0.1: Glyph of Renew - Reduces the duration of your Renew by 3 sec. but increases the amount healed each tick by 25%.
