Spirit will be important for all DPS casters I believe, as it will add bonus spell damage.

Spirit will benefit warlocks through Fel Armor and Life Tap, shadow priests through Imp Spirit Tap and Twisted Faith, and balance druids with Improved Moonkin Form. Mages apparently only benefit from spirit through Mage Armor. So this will probably be the enchant for PvE casters, DPS and healers alike.

Tailors (with 405+) can make this version on this item but only for themselve for really cheap with : Sanctified Spellthread, you only need ~~the small version of Shining Spellthread (Require: 2 X Crystallized Life, 1 X Iceweb Spider Silk and 3 X~~ Eternium Thread X 1)

~~by adding Shining Spellthread with 5 X Crystallized Fire you get the equivalent of this item here~~ (for tailors only) it doesn't create a item you apply to your pants, directly from your tailoring windows you click "Embroider" and choose the item from inventory (if the item is a Bind on equipped it becomes soulbound)

As of Patch 3.0.8 it only takes one Eternium Thread for tailor to make Sanctified Spellthread

WIth the upcoming changes to the mage fire tree, this will become slightly beneficial to all frost/fire and fire mages as Pyromaniac (https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/spell=34296) shall allow mana regeneration to continue while casting by 10/20/30% rather than the reduced mana costs.

I know I'll be threading this into my pants.

I find that this benifts Boomkins aswell. The other spellthread enchant has SP and Stam, personly i think spirt benifts us more then stam in a raid, since our leather armour has a good deal of Stam.

As of 3.1, live today, any pants with this enchant on it will require level 60 to have the enchant activated.

For elaboration: on my twink priest, in early BC, i put a BC spellthread on my darkweave breeches. it did not make it soulbound, and allowed me to send them to my priest. As of today (i quit twinking for a while) he has not yet worn the pants - but when i logged in, they were soulbound, and it said, in red "this enchant requires level 60". I assume the same is for the WOTLK threads.

For arcane PVE mages, if money isn't an issue (eternal life is more expensive than eternal fire), choose this over Sapphire Spellthread. You trade about 300 health, which isn't much in a raiding situation, for roughly .2% crit (w/ molten armor and the proper talents).

In the long run though, there's really no noticeable difference between the two.

Mages now benefit from this through Molten Armor, which grants a percentage of your spirit as crit rating. This is great thread for mage pants as of the current patch/expansion.

As of this patch, spellthread for healers and caster DPS have essentially reversed.

Brilliant Spellthread used to be the go-to for caster DPS (and the healers that wanted Spirit).

BiS for Holy Paladins and Resto Shamans used to be Sapphire Spellthread because they did not benefit from Spirit, but this has since changed.

TL;DR Healers now universally want Brilliant Spellthread, caster DPS now want Sapphire Spellthread.
