The real question here is if this glyph effect is calculated before or after haste calculations. Since haste cannot reduce the global cooldown below 1 second currently, if the game first calculates haste for a spell, and then reduces the global cooldown left by 1 second, it would theoretically be possible to get a GCD near 0 seconds.

I just realized this Glyph made Earth Shock an extremely powerful spell to use in an elemental Shaman's rotation. When we look at Caster damage, we use DPS in terms of Damage per second of casting. Usually, instant spells like shocks involve 1.5 casting, as it is the amount of cast time you "lose" when casting the spell (GCD). But if you reduce that opportunity cost in cast time by 1 second, you are in effect tripling the DPS of this spell. I'm making calculations right now, but I'm pretty sure than when I'm done it will be obvious that using Earth shock on every cooldown, as long as Flame Shock is up, will be the best way to maximise DPS.

Enh shamans with 2/2 in Improved Stormstrike and 0/5 in Reverberation will not see any difference in their spell rotations or dps from this glyph.

This will be sweet for Ele PvP once it's out: EM+Trink, LB, LvB, ES, NS+CL can take someone down very fast.

This glyph is absolutely useless really.. I have the same global cooldown as normal(with out it). It isn't worth the money. If you really need to lay down totems fast why not try creating a macro such as...

If your Elemental?.. You can change the way the totems are put down as well. Just separate the individual totems with a comma.

According to PTR changes, the wording on the tooltip has changed from by 0.5 sec to to 0.5 sec.

Perhaps the glyph will finally reduce the GCD to 0.5 instead of 1 sec like it currently does on Live?

This is not among the major glyphs...can anyone on the PTR confirm that it:

exists
reduces the GCD to 0.5 sec, not by 0.5 sec

The question is, for abilities that do invoke the GCD, can the GCD ever be less than the 1 sec hard limit? It seems that the current implementation of this glyph is that the GCD cannot go below 1 sec, even if your hasted GCD is lower than 1.5 sec.

I would like to point out the viability of this glyph for Elem specs as well.

As long as range is not an issue, there is no reason that an Elem shaman should not be rotating in a shock every six seconds. If you notice, during clearcasting (atleast with my spec) the mana cost of Shock spells goes from 332 mana down to 36 mana (at lvl 78).

Adding in this glyph saves you 1 second for every 6 seconds.

That means that over 6 minutes of dps'ing a boss you have saved an entire 60 seconds to spend on LB and Lava B. Assuming a rotation of 4 LB for every 1 Lava B and .5 per shock, you have gained roughly 24 LB and 6 Lava B casts. (A rotation including CL would improve the dps by a good amount, but cost a lot more mana)

Assuming 2k SP and a 40% crit rate..
LB = 765 (Ave dmg) + (2,000 x .8143) = (2393.6 x 14.4) + (4787.2 x 9.6) = 80,424.96
Lava B = 3035.2 (100% crit) + (2,000 x .7714) = 4578 x 6 = 27,468
Total damage gained over six minutes = 107,892.96
DPS Gained = 299.7

The only requirement for this added dps is vigilance in rotating shocks in exactly on the cooldown. This, of course, will be affected by haste rating.

These calculations are not taking into account haste (additive), hit (deductive), or other glyphs.

Feel free to reply with any corrections as it is no doubt that I could have made a mistake somewhere, though I did leave a lot of details out, so I might have calculated something without actually writing it down.

In game the glyph says the GCD reduction is "to 1 sec.". I thought they forgot to change the wording on it, but after some testing at appiers the GCD is reduced only to 1 sec as the tooltip says. Very disappointing :(

Yes, 0 as in zero.

Since this glyph says "to 1 sec", I'm assuming that the less haste you have, the more effective this glyph is. Since you probably will have at least one enchant/trinket/somthing else that increases your spell haste, and since (from what I understand) spell haste also reduces global, there really isn't much point getting this from a PvP Enh perspective unless there really isn't any other glyphs. And there definately are other glyphs.

I think that patch 4.0.1 brought the global cooldown down from 1.5 to 1.0 seconds for everything now anyways. So basically this glyph doesn't do anything.

Correct me if I am wrong but the 6 Second Global Cooldown for Earth Shock, Frost Shock, Flame Shock, means when you use a 'Shock' spell ALL three go into a 6 Second GCD at the same time. SO with this Glyph you can change the GCD to 1 Second. Right?

As I did not see this mentioned above and am currently re-spec'ing my resto shammy, here's an interesting synergy in my opinion:

Focused Insight used during my rotation means I'm burning a GCD (1.5 seconds) each time my shock comes up. Glyph of Shocking allows me to cut that time by 30% which, over the course of fights means more time healing!

I just took this glyph on and off and it did not change my shock global cooldown at all. They stayed at 5sec. What a waste.

In Mists of Pandaria this glyph has changed.

OLD: Glyph of Shocking - Reduces the global cooldown triggered by your shock spells to 1 sec.

NEW: Glyph of Capacitor Totem - Reduces the charging time of your Capacitor Totem by 2 sec.

In case anyone from Classic is wondering, this only reduces the GCD to the minimum of 1.0s and not below it.
