If I understand this correctly, the additional 2 seconds added to Starfall will allow another 4 stars to fall on 2 or more targets.
This sounds very useful, all the extra damage we can get out of this spell the better.
Not to mention the additional splash damage.

As a Moonkin I will likely be using it along with Glyph of Moonfire and Starfire to help maximize my damage output.

This is a worthless glyph because it only helps if you're attacking a single target, and even then youwould only sneak out 2 more (12 total) stars from the attack.

There is no good third balance glyph (innervate, i guess...but mana has hardly been a concern recently) for raiding or questing. While soloing, a moonkin should use wrath and roots, and while raiding starfire and moonfire.

I had some hope for rebirth, but realized it didn't increase the mana return to the revived (would be nice to suicide a mana-tapped healer and rez them with full mana to prolong tank survival).

Blizzard needs to throw crit chickens some more viable majors (and give back the lynx/wolf/polar bear minor glyphs - or give us tabards that will change our appearances in form).

The stupidest thing anyone has ever said about a moonkin. I don't know how long youv'e been playing one but after about 5 seconds speccing balance, I realized Insect Swarms potential. I currently have both Glyph of Moonfire and Glyph of Insect Swarm, and my Insect Swarm dot does more damage than my moonfire dot while still costing half the mana! (forget the instant moonfire dmg, only around 200 dmg). The best three raiding Glyphs for moonkins at 80 will probably be Insect Swarm (the third best glyph), Moonfire, and Starfire.

For all of those above who say this glyph sucks for raiding, I agree, but for PvP, I couldn't disagree more. Having this glyph helps to make sure that you still get the full effect out of your starfall even if you get CC'd, since getting CC'd stops stars from falling. It helps you make the most out of a devastating ability that is only available every 3 minutes, yet can be stopped pretty easily by those who are determined to make it happen.

I guess they recently changed this glyph? AFAIK, it used to be 90 seconds, and now it says 30 seconds. Can anyone on the PTR confirm this to be true? The 90 second reduced CD on Starfall made this glyph an actual contender for the hallowed 3rd slot in a Balance druid's glyph set, but now 30 seconds drops that appeal by a lot. If it really is only 30 seconds now, then a lot of boomkins won't be getting this anymore.

With changes in 3.1, this glyph would reduce Starfall's CD to 1 minute, making it a potentially superior glyph for many doomkin/moonlock type balance druids than Glyph of Starfire (which at most saves you 1 GCD during an eclipse proc if you use the moonlock spell rotation).

In patch 3.3.3 Starfall is buffed a lot. Approximately 5 times the damage it does at the moment. So this glyph becomes superior to the glyph of Insect swarm for single target DPS.

The 3 glyphs would be: Moonfire, Starfire, and Starfall.

This buff also makes Glyph of focus as a contender.

at the moment i use Glyph of Moonfire, Glyph of Insect Swarm and Glyph of Focus but i am thinking to change my Glyph of Focus to Glyph of Starfall.

I dont know what's better at boss fights. i think starfall is better because when the cd is shorter and from the patch damage increased is get's a great combo. but still the huge range is kinda useless at adds in icc, well it goes about the bosses in icc of course. so whats better for bosses Glyph of Focus or Glyph of Starfall.

Btw i dont use the stafire Glyph becuase i also use insect swarm and then it will get messed up.

and also use starfall, trinkets, and Force of nature (3 trees)

it's a really easy rotation and makes solo target whit my gear (2 T10) 5733gs always 6k+ dps

----------- Moonkin Glyphs explained -----------
DPS increase from the different glyphs with 58/0/13 PvE spec, ~8k-dps-on-bossdummy-geared-char(32%crit), on a single target:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Focus = ~30dps(24-37dps, depending on if you have starfall glyph or not)
Starfall = ~158dps(124-189dps, depending on the length of the fight)
Moonfire = ~153dps
Insect Swarm = ~185dps(but it also removes the 3% hit reduction)
Starfire = ~300dps(together with Moonfire Glyph over a 4min fight where you do 8k dps, and gain 6 GCDs from not refreshing Moonfire)

Since Starfire Glyph are fairly dependant on Moonfire Glyph to be effective, the question becomes Starfall or Insect Swarm as the 3rd glyph.
-Starfall will output less average dps(-27dps) on boss fights, but will shine when there is multiple targets.
-Insect Swarm will do 27dps more, but it will remove the -3% hit debuff you give the mob/boss.

So, my choice are Starfire+Moonfire+Starfall since it will result in the tanks taking less dmg, and only gimping my dps on singletarget by 27 dps. (edit: I noticed when trying out on a dummy, that I went oom faster with Starfall glyph then with Insect Swarm, this is because you use startfall more often and it cost alot of mana, so if you have mana issues on bossfights, Insect Swarm might be the best for you)

Disclaimer: If you test Starfall glyph on dummies, you might get very high numbers, but thats because you always hit multiple targets. Those errors are not in these numbers, the DPS increase here is purely for singletarget dps.

With Cataclysm release, this glyph is a must have since it is a major glyph.

So now, you should take Glyph of insect swarm, glyph of moonfire, glyph of wrath as primary glyphs.

Maybe focus? or a rebirth, it's not as important as the others.

In Mists of Pandaria this glyph has changed.

OLD: Glyph of Starfall - Reduces the cooldown of Starfall by 30 sec.

NEW: Glyph of Skull Bash - Increases the duration of your Skull Bash interrupt by 4 sec, but increases the cooldown by 10 sec.
