I've oppened about 8 and nothing but eels have come out... do they drop from the eels or does the mud become a container thing?

The reason the droprate shows as 100% is because you either loot the keys or nothing (and disturb a Siltslither Eel) from the Raised Mud, and the WoWhead client doesn't take into account an "empty" object in its calculations.

This took me about fifteen minutes, but if you're in the low end of the range for Sholazar, the mobs will probably extend that even if the RNG loves you. Bring your water-breathing item of choice just in case — the tank provided only gives you 9 minutes, and this quest is hassle enough without having to keep an eye on your air.

... I dont know if you all are exagerating or what but I got mine on the very first try. Maybe I just got lucky but I suspect the droprate isn't as bad as you all say.

Confirmed the chances of his keys turning up in a mound are strikingly low. took me over 10 minutes on my paladin.

Useful tip for those who hate the hastle of drowning...

you can extend the air supply given if u do not use the air tank right after it expires..

use the air tank then, after it expires let urself get close to drowning before using the next charge. This will give you an extra 2-3 min between each charge.. effectivly doubling the time u can spend underwater.

It didn't take me 2 hours, nor did it take me 2 seconds to do this quest. I checked Wowhead to see some user's comments, after searching for about 15-20 minutes. I then clicked back in game and found it on my first pile.

I've noticed, when you turn up the little eels, like other water animals, they won't follow you on land. Being a feral druid this quest was semi-easy (the only hard part about it was the time spent searching through the mud).

My advice: Keep at it. If you don't find it within an hour or so, try re-logging. Sometimes it helps :)

One of the more annoying quests in Northrend, due to the low droprate and the pointlessness of the eels. They're harmless, except that their attacks will prevent you from looting further mud piles. With their long despawn time and tendency to not evade until you've spent at least a full minute on land, you pretty much have to kill them all - not because that's in any way required for the quest, but simply because they're so damn annoying that you won't be able to get your quest done otherwise.

Of course, the threshers in the lake don't exactly help...

BIG TIP TO GET THIS DONE FAST: The new system for quests that displays where to go on the map, etc. also tells you what counts towards quests. I spent about 10 minutes killing eels and opening mud piles before i highlighted one that actually SAID in the corner "quest progress: Vic's keys 0/1". I double checked and no other piles said this. When i opened it, bam.

Only look for the pile that says the keys are in it!
