This is the best moonkin trinket I have ever seen. It not only adds a ridiculous amount of +damage, the best stat you can get for raid DPS, it also addresses the major problem moonkins have in raids, mana usage. This is a must have.

i found an interesting website that calculates dps/dpm/ect. and the site shows that as a frost mage, Quagmirran's Eye is more of a dps increase than this trinket. can anyone else confirm this? (this trinket is in fact the next best one to quagmirran's eye on the website by only about 4dps)

but also regardless of that, this would be a better choice for mana intensive fights. one example would be the tidewalker fight.

The 63 spelldamage alone would always make me grind mats for this. Then comes the extra 40% effect which is very useful in raids by obvious reasons

I leveled alchemy just to get this trinket and I have no regrets. I'm only in a ssc/eye guild so there's really nothing better than this atm and this with Icon of the Silver Crescent is over 100 spell dmg. As a mage of any spec the passive is also amazing and i hope to get Serpent Coil Braid for even more mana efficiency

Being a raiding mage with epic flyer and herbalism, I've been debating picking up alchemy for a while now. My spec is also 40/0/21, meaning Arcane/Frost.

What always held me back, was my 375 enchanting, with +12 spell damage enchants on rings. The ability to disenchant is also nice.

But I believe with this trinket, I will finally take up Alchemy this week.

Arcane Blast is an incredible DPS spell, but it comes at a cost of mana. You can choose to blow massive amounts of mana, for massive amounts of DPS over short periods of time. A more sustainable DPS rotation is AB*C, FB*D depending on mana consumption and grouping. The ideal rotation would be pure AB spam, but of course you can only sustain this for so long. For an average mage, I'd say about a minute.

This trinket is very nice. Like another mage posted above, I'd also love to get my hands on the Serpent Coil Trinket. As a 40/0/21 mage, those would be my 2 ideal trinkets before Black Temple and the Skull of Gul'dan off Illidan.

The extra mana I'll gain from this trinket will be very nice in my rotations, and 63 spell damage on a trinket is very impressive. I'll use this along with my Icon of the Silver Crescent until I can pick up a Serpent Coil Braid from SSC.

I will miss Enchanting, but being an Alchemist will be nice as well.

Does anyone know if the Alchemist's stone is consumed when making this? I ask because I want to make both the DPS and Healing one as well at some point.

Question, If I made this and then made another one of the Alchemists stones that this uses for a mat. Could I then have both trinkets? I Know that the +40% would not stack of course, but as a pair of trinkets I think they would be good together unless you have better than the +15 to eveything one.

Just ran some numbers for how effective the mana gain is on this trinket. Simple to calculate, unless I'm completely missing something.

A normal Super Mana Potion gives 1800-3000 mana, which is 2400 average mana gained. The cooldown is 2 minutes. 2400 mana with a 120 second cooldown is exactly 100 mp5.

2400 / 120 = 20 mp1
20 mp1 x 5 = 100 mp5

A 40% increase to this regen figures to be 140 mp5, on average.
Because of the range on the potion, you'll get between (75 mp5 x 1.4 = 105) 30 and (125 mp5 x 1.4 = 175) 50 mp5.

The trinket's effect is 63 spell damage and 40 mp5!

Note: These calculations are based on using mana potions on cooldown. If you're in a raid situation and not doing this, you must not be hurting for regen in the first place.

Paladins: At the higher raiding ends you need more spell damage to maintain aggro, so what about taking this trinket instead of the Guardian version with its Defense Rating, considering that you could probably get all the defense you need from armor pieces alone?

pvp wise:

most people find a usable trinket to increase your spelldamage for 20 seconds more usefull, i disagree since this trinket gives a stable +spelldamage..

also in battlegrounds (where you can use potions) the +40% effect is just plain sex... its awesome when your mad alch potion heals 4k health :>

Can you make two of these for different talent respecs and keep one in the bank to swap out when you respec? Has anyone done this and can say For Sure? In my case I'd like one for dps (Balance) and one for healing (Resto) but I don't want to go about making another philosopher's stone and find out that it replaced my sorcerer's alchemist stone in the process...

Here are some calculations made to figure out the Raw Mp5 gained from chain chugging Super Mana Potions when you have the Sorcerer's Alchemist Stone equipped.

The amount of mana that a Super mana potion restores with the alchemist stone equipped is 2520 - 4200
(with the average being 3360, which is the value I will use to calculate said Mp5)

120 / 5 = 24
(This tells us that 24 5 second increments occur within 2 minutes, Hence Mp5)

3360 / 24 = 140
(This tells us how much Mp5 we get from an average super mana potion with the alchemist stone equipped)

On average you'll get 140 Mp5 if you chain chug super mana potions with an alchemist stone equipped, whereas if you didn't have an alchemist stone equipped, chain chugging would grant an average of 100 Mp5.

It's like a free 40 Mp5 on mana intensive fights... Not bad considering it also gives 63 additional spell damage =)

To get a better view about how « good » this item actually is, you can convert the 40% mana increase from drinking potions into mp5.

A Super Mana Potion gives you 2400 mana on average, this Alchemist Stone will give you around 960 extra mana every time you use a Super Mana Potion (2400 + 40% = 3360 mana on average Super Mana Potion use)
In very long/long boss fights (in short ones you won’t get oom anyway), if you drink a potion whenever the cooldown (2 minutes) is up, you would get:

960 / 120 = 8 mana per second from this trinket or 40mp5

All in all, with optimal use, this trinket can be seen as:

Anyone know if this works on warlock healthstones? There are different grades of "Healing potions" such as major, lesser etc.Makes me wonder if all health type pots in general including healstones get the 40%

1200g 30 badges and a week worth of doing tons of instances and every daily every day. But I got it!

So Worth it, Even as a mage for the Potion proc. I don't use potions very often but when I have to reach for a Super health potion I am always on the brink of death so this really helps out.

+63 spelldamage is one of the highest stats I have seen on a trinket. As a mage I will wear this most of the time, - together with crusader. I used the old one a lot too, - with mad alchemyst potion, it really brings hp and mana up! Allthough I changed to a +damage or +crit trinket in order to make more damage. Now I don't have to do that anymore. This trinket is the reason of why I do all the dailys and run magisters one or twice a day. Really looking forward to getting it!

since my fav wow activity is soloing strat/baron ( for the horde but also for fun), i have to say this trinket is for me. Baron fights need high dps but he does considerable damage to a mage , even 9 lvls higher with +10K hp and pvp s3. so a health pot is needed in most fights. old alchy stone was a must there but i had to leave aside a +dam trinket. now i dont.....

haviung said that, getting exalted is boring

This trinket with Mad Alchemist's potion would rock ! 2310-3850 each mana and health. I haven't tested but I would hope Mad potions qualify as a healing and mana pot.

Mad Alchemist's Potion proccs are little luck based, so Heal/Mana gains may vary ±1k...

Doesn't work with Warlock's Healthstone, doesn't stack with the old Alch.Stone.

I know, people will declare me stupid but I made this stone before the healing stone for my holy priest.
The + healing bonus on the other stone is very nice but as a priest I must be able to do some quest solo and the healing version of this trinket is not good for that.

The downside is that it takes forever to get the 30 badges just for the 2 Nether Vortex.
Lucky for me, my brother, a little gnome warlock, helps out getting the materials to make all the parts for both stones.

You might be able to use two different types of stones. The redeemer's stone still adds 40ish to spell damage.

You CAN have different stone.Om my druid, i got redeemer and sorcerer. The stats stack, but not the potion effect!
