This is an excellent ring for bear druids at the defense cap looking to up their threat production, thanks to its high stamina and decent armor compared to the current top tanking rings, the Kara signet and the 25 badge ring.

Nice for any class of tank. I'll be looking for this on my warrior. Expertise has become an excellent tanking stat in its own right.

Works nicely as an aggro ring for Prot Warriors as well. I had been going for the Shapeshifter's Signet, but this might be easier to come by than farming LC rep to exalted.

I think I'm definately going to be farming for this ring on my druid. Haven't had any luck getting the Shermanar Great-Ring and I can't get the tank version of the violet signet, as back in the day when I started Kara I chose the DPS ring. Then I respecced resto for several months for my guild so I got the quest to exchange the ring.
Now I can't hand the resto ring in and pay gold to exchange it as the guy just asks for the Assasin's (DPS) ring :(
But as others have said I can't believe this ring isn't epic! And the expertise rating is <3 as I have very little +hit in my tank gear atm and quite often I have to spam lacerate just to get a 5 stack up, which sucks especially when the Fire mage decides to pull aggro >:-(

I have this and the tanking Violet Signet, very nice an easily achievable if you are trying to gear yourself up for bear tanking!

This is very good for Prot Warriors too. Armor always is nice, and expertise at this level of gear is fantastic. Good chunk of stam too.

Now (3.0.2) Probably the second best druid tanking ring available outside the Sunwell, the best one being https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/item=34888. If you have access to https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/item=34213 then that's gonna be no 1 or 2 even if you have wasted shield block stat in it.
Violet Signet is down in ranking due to the less desirable defense on it.
