anyone know if fish reciepes only come from barrel of fish and meat reciepes only from crate of meat?

Patch day i got the spicy hot talbuk from crate of meat, today i got skullfish soup from barrel of fish. anyone confirm they have recieved meat reciepe from barrel of fish or visa versa?

I suggest after getting the Bloodfin and the Skullfish recipes from the Fish Barrel, then ONLY ever get the Crate of Meat reward each time, therefore, you will often not have to get the ingredients for the next days quest, since it's sometimes contained in the Crate.

ie: Save your 'Crate of Meat' rewards! (all Warped Flesh, Serpent Flesh, Clefthoof Meat and Raptor Ribs)

I would recomend getting the crate of meat as often as necessary to keep yourself a good stock of quest meats (serpent, clefthoof, raptor, warp stalker), and get barrels of fish for the rest. There is a bit of imbalance in that while the fish foods give some unique bonuses, some fish also give no bonuses and are only restore-hp food, whereas all the meat types give you real food buffs.

Also don't forget you need to get some of each to get all the recipes.

One question. Do u stop seeing recipes uve already got once u have learned them?
I've got all the recipes apart from the blue ones and i haven't seen a recipe since, and im wondering if its intended or some kind of bug :o Wouldn't like to think that ive done the quest multiple times without any hope of a recipe.

Any recipe that you have already learned will not drop again.

Although the meat says 5-15 for each, you can actually get more than that. You can get 2 stacks of the same kind. For example, I received two stacks of 8 buzzard meat.,.... totaling 16 in one crate.

meaning you could get up to 30 of any given meat.. if you were insanely lucky, but I'm sure it has already happened

This is one of the rewards from the daily cooking quest that you get from The Rokk in Lower City in Shattrath. You can chose from either this or Barrel of Fish

Persistent people plagued by the plight of - yeeeaah enough consonance there. People that are still doing the Outland cooking daily quests in hopes of getting that last recipe for The Outland Gourmet may want to start choosing the Barrel of Fish over the Crate of Meat now. Sure the drop rates for recipes like Stormchops seem to be more common in the Crate of Meat, but who is to say that was just biased towards people that wanted meat to cook over fish to cook for the buffs they respectively give.

Now why would I say that you should choose this one now? Well not only have I gotten recipes from this as living proof, but with the nerfed amount of gold these old school dailies do, getting the occasional Goldenscale Vendorfish out of the barrel has proven to make it more worthwhile than that of what you would get from the Crate of Meat, especially considering that the food that can be cooked from either container does not sell for nearly as much as it did back when BC was the current expansion. Just my two cents. :)

I got the Stormchops recipe from the Dalaran cooking daily today, so you can also get it there.

Just a note here, it seems that as of patch 4.3, if you do not have either Recipe: Spicy Hot Talbuk or Recipe: Kibler's Bits they are a guaranteed drop in the crate. Only one of these can be in the crate per use. The following are still rare drops though: Recipe: Stormchops Recipe: Delicious Chocolate Cake and Recipe: Captain Rumsey's Lager.

Got a crate of meat from doing the daily cooking quest and inside was:

5 buzzard meat
8 clefthoof meat
1 skinning knife

Disapointing that there was no recipe :(

Wow, did this yesterday and got two stacks of 8 Raptor Ribs and a tarnished ring (Tarnished Silver Ring My biggest take yet. I like the meat crates because you almost always have enuff meat for subsequent cooking quests without farming it.

I promptly sent the wearable level 1 ring to my banker alt, just for fun.

The first time I chose the box of meat I received a blue recipe for Delicious Chocolate cake.

Second time around I received the Storm Chop recipe.

I think it's great to go with the meat as well and get extra meat for future cooking quests as well as the recipes

Ive had 2 receipes from the meat quests, Kiblers bits and Broiled Catfish, catfish is +20 stam, not that good, but Ive had a receipe of of every fish crate so far, got fishermans feast as the first one, its a +30 stamina food that sells really well in AH and easy mats, go for fish crates, u get better stuff :

i've been getting this one whenever i actually do the quest and i have yet to get one recipe. hearing of much better things from the fish barrels

I got Clefthoof meat x 13, and an unidentified eye. Im not very lucky with the meat box, I do better with the barrel of fish prize. Im sure its all random thou.

The barrel of fish provides cooking mats useful for tanks, healers, and agility users.

The crate of meat provides cooking mats useful to agility users, spellcasters, hunter pet food, physical dps hit users, and mats that can be used for later cooking quests.

In deciding which to pick, also consider your alternative ways to hunt these mats. The crate of meat mats can be farmed from beasts, which if you have a skinner can also be farmed for skins at the same time. It can be quite a pain in the rear to obtain some of the fish, such as the furious crawdad
