The Aqir were intelligent insectoids that ruled Kalimdor thousands of years ago. The combined might of the Amani and Gurubashi trolls caused the kingdom to split into Ahn'Quiraj and Azjol'Nerub; hence the Amani acquired at least one of their artifacts.

As the individual above me noted, the Aqir were the evolutionary precursors to the Silithid and Nerubian races. It's interesting to see Blizzard pay attention to in-depth lore, by adding Aqir items to the Zul'Aman drop table. The history of the Human race in Warcraft is littered with numerous battles and skirmishes fought against the Amani Trolls. It would be interesting to see very ancient Human and Elven artifacts added to this instance as well.

This trinket would be useful to most anyone just getting out of Karazhan/Gruul's Lair. The Parry helps to push Shield Block off the table (you still take damage from a blocked attack). In the end, this trinket also increases the amount of single target aggro you produce..Parry resets your swing timer, and you immediately get another attack in. Even if you already are uncrushable, the extra Armor then provides flat mitigation - of which 2500 is quite a buff.

Passive avoidance is practically the same as: https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/item=28528. This trinket has a tiny edge in passive effect since parry increases aggro as well.

Moroes pocket watch gives over 10% chance to dodge upon use wheras this trinket gives 2500 armor. I'm not sure what blizzard was thinking with this trinket; as a tank you either stack avoidance for trash, or your max out effective health by stacking stamina/armor/blkvalue. If you are doing the first, moroes is better.

If you are doing the second, the value of armor depends on your stamina, but I'm pretty sure most raiding tanks would prefer a constant 45-51 stamina in their trinket spot rather than a 2500 armor proc on use only a fraction of the time they are tanking.

Blizzard screwed up, this trinket should give like 40 stamina, and then give 2500 armor on use; that would make much more sense.

How much armor bonus would a feral druid get from this if it does work? 2500 x 4.5 is 11250 armor, not sure if it works like that though.

So I got this trinket to save it from sharding, assuming I'd rarely use it. The concept of "physical damage reduction with slight threat increase and a higher damage reduction Use" is what I use my Gnomeregan Autoblocker for, so didn't see myself ever using the Aqir over the Autoblocker. Then I realised that (as mentioned above) that I was making a mistake - this trinket isnt necessarily better than the Autoblocker, but it's awesome used -with- it.

Both the Use of the Aqir and the Autoblocker can be popped at the same time, have the same duration/cooldown, and stack in a beneficial way with each other.

Armor and Block Value have a -very- nice synergy. The higher your armor, the less you get hit for, and thus the bigger effect block value has as it takes a higher percentage of total damage off each hit. Wearing the Aqir+Autoblocker gives you essentially a mini shieldwall every 2 minutes that is far more effective than popping both individually at different times or just using one. Absolutely perfect for popping during things like Halazzi's frenzy if no hunter, Malchezaar's Phase 2, that kind of regular boost to tank damage that can be tricky but doesnt warrant a full Shield Wall pop. Any kind of situation where you're taking constant damage, don't necessarily expect to dodge everything, but just want to reduce a hefty amount of physical damage to give healers a bit of a break.

As parry hastens your next swing, Parry Rating is a somewhat threat-boosting mitigation stat, and Block Value is a high threat stat with mitigation added, so the passive effects synchronise better. Whilst Styleen's Impeding Scarab from BWL has been a staple part of my trash Block kit to combo with the Autoblocker, I think the Aqir trinket will now usurp it in the second slot for boss tanking.

I would not recommend using the Aqir with the Moroes trinket - High avoidance and high armor Use options cancel each other out to a point. If you pop the avoidance one you're trying not to be hit, if you pop an armor one you're expecting to take hits. Not to say they don't work but in that situation you'd be better off popping the two trinkets at different times.

So my recommendation? When boss tanking, as long as you have enough stamina/defense on your regular gear not to need a Stamina trinket, the Aqir is possibly the best pre-BT trinket you can pair with the Gnomeregan Autoblocker for a consistent threat boost and constant mild emergency button. I thought it was going to rot in my bank when I first bid on it, but now I'm really starting to love it.

Comparing this trinket to Moroes' watch, they both give similar amounts of avoidance, though I consider the pocketwatch to have a far better use - the Aqir Artifact seems better off being used every 2 minutes as it gives a steady decrease in damage, but the pocketwatch adds another last stand or shield wall style button. However, I have started using the Artifact due to the 2 piece set bonus on the warrior tier 4. More parries means more procs of blade turning, which adds yet another damage buffer almost equivalent to 200 block value. Even as another bonus, the parries also increase your threat output.

This is good to use when fighting elementals like Hydross because you can't block their attacks, only parry or dodge.

It's worthy to note that since Parry is a prime tank stat for Death Knights, this trinket is invaluable to them. Guilds that are babying their Frost spec Death Knights to 80 should consider doing Zul'jin for this trinket and two Cleaver of the Unforgiving axes to dual wield for optimal parry stats that will last until early WOTLK raiding.

UMM Ya idk what gear your in but if you still need defense on your trinkets your probably not in line to get this anyway. This is a top warrior tanking trinket.

This is an excelent WARRIOR trinket. As for druids and paladins the Pocket watchoff moroes is better. Bears wont parry so duh but as for a paladin no real benefit is recieved from parry. Sure you attack faster but you proboably have a fast weapon for more righteousness dmg so the increase is no huge deal and we dont generate more rage from parries. Also the use ability of approx 16% dodge is much more useful than the armour which will provide less and less benefit as you gainbetter gear(assuming the armour value goes up) And then just as a final note, the artifact gives 1.9% parry where as the watch gives 2.0% whichis no huge deal on its own but considering the above points its pretty obvious that the pocket watch is superior, and much easier to get.
