Good grief, the mats for this are just absurdly low given how outstanding the item is for tanks. Hit rating is hard to come by on gear that's suited for bears, too.

I'd socket this with 2x myself. I'd rather have 12 Stamina than 8 Agility. That'd make this thing's stats +29 Agility, +32 Stamina, +3 Hit. Since it's so easy to achieve the defense cap as a bear, this thing is actually quite a bit more attractive than Necklace of the Juggernaut. Crazy.

I hope this does go through the patch relatively unchanged as it's a great necklace for alot of classes with the freedom sockets bring. I'll be getting 1 of these for my heavy agility survival gearup on my hunter for sure as it's very hard to find anything to replace that outside of raids.

The only thing i'm worried about is how much better this could be then most epic amulets so it could potentially be downgraded.

I would venture to say that if you don't need the +hit, this is a lot better than the Worgen Claw Necklace. I only just got the Worgen Claw, and am thinking of replacing it with this.

If u got enough defence (415 for feral druids like me) this is one of the best tanking neck, beacuse almost all tanking necks got +defence rating (hate that beacuse i reach cap).
Combine with 2 x Shifting Nightseye (end stat: 29 AGI, 32 STA and 3 hit) or with 2 x Solid Star of Elune (end stat: 21 AGI and 44 STA - no bonus) - this is it...

I didn't find any better non-raid neck for feral druid till now....

My roommate is a JC, and he crafted one of these for a druid friend, who subsequently put 2 Void Spheres into it. At first I didn't see the genius behind this, but think about it: That's 8 resist all, 21 agi, 20 stam, and 3 hit rating on one piece of armor! That's literally everything a druid tank could ask for in a neck piece, since none have armor. And it'd be good in PvP for cat form as well, since the resist will help a lot against those crazy-powerful magic nukers.

For a Survival Hunter, this one competes with:

With two +8 Agility gems in this one, that's 40.6 Agility after adding +15 %.

So in total:
40.6 Attack Power
1.05 % crit
3 Hit rating
20 Stamina

Now you'd be giving up 0.45 % crit, which of course isn't insignificant. You'd get a bit more AP, and 1 more stamina. And this one is much easier to get. There are of course other good necklaces out there as well. 3 Hit Rating would of course only matter to you up until a certain point, but +hit is the best way of boosting dps up until the know limitations. You'll be doing more dps allover if you have to give up a little power for a better chance to hit. A level 70 mob requires +6 % to hit, a 71 requires +7, a 72 requires +8, and finally bosses and level 73 mobs requires +9 % to hit for maxing out your chance of hitting a mob. Survival hunters (with Surefooted, +3 % to hit) needs 95-100 Hit Rating to hit the cap. Bit off topic here, but that's ok.

This is a really great necklace for any combat class - 21 agility and 20 stamina are great straight off the bat, but *two* sockets makes it a great piece for balancing out your build with whatever you might be missing. The socket bonus is nice but not essential, allowing all kinds of significant gem bonuses to really round out a character's gear.

Cheap materials, usable at level 65... nuff said.

it is only a nice bear trinket for early bears.
when you replace the clefthoof-slots with T4 you need defense rating on your other slots. without the def. rating on the neck slot it will be difficult to avoid critical hits (might be possible, though).

Even for not-so-early survival hunters, this is about as good as you can get with 2x 8 agil gems socketed in. As I've progressed I have so much gear with +hit on it that it's not really an issue anyway. This is 12 more agility than anything else I've seen available to date, love it.

People have honestly been trying to sell this on the AH for 155g + on Duskwood (Alliance). It doesn't seem to be selling for them. The mats are not that expensive, and its trainable from the jewel crafting trainer. I don't even think 100g is worth it, but do not pay 155g for this item.

EDIT: this is untrue, now that SV hunters are using haste to a great advantage with a 2:1/3:2/1:1 rotation. It's still the second best though, behind the Clutch of Demise.

Except that if you stick spinels in it, which btw are now quite accessible with them being purchasable once your server has the Armory and the Anvil done, it becomes a 41 agility necklace -before- talents, and -before- BoK, which means that after buffs, it's a 51.86 agility necklace making it 1.30% crit and 51.86 RAP.

Clutch of Demise - 31.65 AGI after talent/buff, = 0.79% crit and combined total of 95.65 RAP, the haste is negligible until you have enough overall to get another autoshot in between one of your multishot or arcane shot cooldowns. Switching to the clutch, you lose .5% crit, 20 agi (which also translates into -5 AP per melee/hunters in the raid including yourself) and gain 39 RAP (44 - 5 yo lose from lower agility on EW debuff). So as long as there are 7 or less melee/hunters in the raid not including yourself, your raid sees a minimum gain of 4 RAP in your DPS, without even factoring in the 0.5% less crit. Remember, the entire point of being Survival is your EW + your DPS, not your DPS + EW. Oh, and unless your guild is weird, you've got 3 warriors (2 prot, 1 dps), 2 rogues, 1 enh shaman, 1-2 feral druids, maybe 2 pallies (1 prot, 1 ret), and 1-2 other hunters aside from you. That means 8-12 melee/hunters not including you, which means you lowered your raids DPS more than your own increased.

Furthermore, even being Surv and using a 3.0 speed weapon, you do -NOT- want to go over 100 haste rating without using a macro to fire your Multi, Arcane rotation, because 100 haste rating + quiver on a 3.0 weapon = 1.6667~ autoshot speed, and you're now encroaching on the GCD, which is -not- reduced on melee/ranged physical attacks. Regardless of which you choose, if you have other gear with which you're going to reach 90-100 haste rating, then it makes the Clutch absolutely worthless and the Necklace of the Deep with double spinels is still better.

The quiver by itself gives you 15% more shots per time period, taking the 3.0 weapon down to a 2.61 speed.

Which means 100 haste rating (about 6.3% haste) plus the quiver (total haste: ~22%) gets your 3.0 bow a new speed of around 2.45.

To hit 1.8 you'd need a little more than 700 haste rating (~45%; ~67% after quiver). You'd need almost 900 haste rating (~56%; ~79% after quiver) to drop it to 1.67.

I currently have this Necklace with 2 Delicate Crimson Spinels in it for a total of 41 agil. I am specc'd Survival. I am tempted to try out the Shattered Sun Pendant of Might (I'm an Aldor) when I become Exalted there. What I am unsure about is: Is it worth losing the agility to gain much more attack power from the base stats as well as the Aldor Proc?

Side effects include: I am a JC and like selling the Necklace of the Deeps for profit and boasting one on myself is like advertising, and on the flip side the Shattered Sun Pendant is a Purple, I like having purples on my profile :) Neither of those 2 side effects should matter of course in the decision making process, so any suggestions for me?

This is definitely worth spending 30 badges plus some gold in tips on spinels for a survival hunter. 41 agility is a huge amount for a neckpiece, making this easily the best-in-slot for pure agility stacking. You'll probably see a pretty huge DPS increase using the SSO pendant, though... It really all depends on how you prioritize your personal DPS and contribution to the raid via expose weakness.

Thank you for the responses however what I haven't seen is a breakdown of the numbers and how it will affect overall group dps. Let's assume a 10 man raid as all I have been able to get to with our small guild is Kara and ZA.

I am a noob in WOW mathmatics but here's an attempt:

Necklace of the Deep give 23 agil (over the SSO Necklace) which is 23 AP + (23 * 15%) = 26.45 AP
Expose Weakness is 26.45 * 25% = 6.61 AP
Assuming there is a MT, OT, 2 Hunters, and 1 Melee DPDS (rest casters) = 33.06 AP

33.06 + 26.45 = 59.51 Total AP

I don't know how much the 23 agil effects Crit, and dodge and armor I'm not concerned with so much in raids.

What I hope for though is for someone to prove me wrong which I am sure I am since I am terrible at calculating this stuff, but I did invest in putting 2 Spinels in this necklace and would like to know that it truely is better than the cheap SSO necklace which every hunter and their mother has. Also if anyone would like to armory me and tell me how I'm doing as a SV hunter that would be great.

There are 3 things i can tell for this neck:

--1st:You can learn that from any JC trainer in Outlands.I learnt it from jc trainer at Thrallmar (Horde)

--2nd:You give about 60g to make this and you take 100g or some more.So you get about 40-50g

--3rd:You can add sockets to it and make awsome and more highpriced.

well then, let's go and look at the gain given by EW: 25% of your agility. 25% of (41x1.15=47.15, round to 47) is 11.75 AP given to each raid member. you'd have to get a total of about 19 people benefitting from that bonus AP to equal the benefit of the 200 AP proc on a straight numerical (no CDs, nothing but the pure AP gain) basis.

I'll borrow (steal) a little info here from the SSO Might pendant from which the aforementioned proc is from, though;

Just done an hour long test of the Aldor version, with my feral druid, whacking the Servant of Grol with an unmodified 1.0s attack speed.

In 60 minutes (3600 seconds), it procced 71 times.

On average, it took 51 seconds to proc again (45 seconds of which was the internal cooldown)

It therefore had an uptime of (710/3600*100) 19.722%.

This gives an average base AP increase of (0.19722*200) 39.44 AP.

Therefore, the Equip: bonus is roughly equivalent to 20 strength (or 40, for rogues).

It's worth bearing in mind that using specials will likely reduce the time taken slightly (to a minimum of 45 seconds), increasing the overall AP gain slightly.

Also, on short fights, the AP gain will be higher since you get the first proc "free" (ie. waiting 5 instead of 50 seconds).

There is also the agility (18x1.15=20.7) on the SSO necklace, which reduces the bonus of the Necklace of the Deep down to 26.3 over it, which results in only a 6.575 AP raid gain over the SSO necklace.

And also, there is the 64 AP on the SSO necklace base, which, combined with the agility, gives you a 84.7 AP total, 37.55 AP gain over the Necklace of the Deep. Approximately six (exactly 5.7, close enough) raid members have to get a 100% benefit out of your EW bonus from necklace of the Deep (it usually only has a 90% uptime for your average raiding SV hunter, due to moving, stopping DPS, etc. etc.) to equal the benefit of the basic bonus from the SSO necklace to you. adding in the proc give it an additional 39,44 AP equivilency, which is another 6 people (5.99) required to get a benefit from your EW for a total of about 12 people getting an upgrade from EW to make any small difference.

However, you also have to take into account the actual benefit it has on your raid members. i don't know about you, but usually the top DPS is a few casters, namely SB crit warlocks, myself, a few other hunters and a couple of rogues, maybe a shaman. The rest are relatively mediocre, thereby making the increased bonus to the majority of the raid reduced due to the quality balance. If you actually have a full raid of very competant people, though, that may rebalance the other way.

Sorry for my uninformative earlier post reflecting nothing more than my opinion, and not the reasoning I had behind it, nor numbers to back it up.

These necklaces will become insanely powerful once WOTLK comes out and the new gems are available.

For example, (https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/item=39905), to carry on with the Agility discussion.

These gems are available to cut from 350 jewelcrafting skill, learned from trainer, and the Bloodstone has an average of 20% to drop from ordinary Cobalt Ore (the WOTLK Fel Iron).

So suddenly you have an unexpensive necklace, with 2 very common gems, which gives +45 agility. And at lvl 65.

I spent the dough for a couple epic gems since I knew I would have it for a while. With 61 Agility, my Survival hunter wore this until level 80. Finally replaced it with the holiday drop Sweet Perfume Broach. While the Sweet Perfume Broach may sound a little girly for my rugged he-man hunter, I'm just glad it's not the Winking Eye of Love

This item is insane. For an SV hunter there is no upgrade until you hit 74 and can get Choker of the Betrayer which only edges this one out if you put a +16 agi gem in it.

As of 4.0, with the stat changes, this is even more impressive. With two epic agility gems Necklace of the Deep has an impressive 61 agility, 20 stamina, and 3 hit. Enough to even approach Sunwell epics, at level 65.

This has been a huge cash cow for me, selling them for 100g on AH I sell 1-2 per day. The jaggal pearls sell on AH for 1-3g, the shadow pearls for 3-10g, and the motes 1-5g (or you can just fish them up easy enough). I'm making 100g per day profit for almost no effort.

And honestly they are worth 100g... two gem slots? Insane!

This is easily the best in slot necklace for anyone thinking of making a level 70 rogue/hunter/druid/shammy twink. It may not hold up so well in BGs, but for pure dps, this tops the charts thanks to the sockets.

My Feral Druid is finding it nigh on impossible to find a better piece to replace this with & she's pushing L76; gemmed it with 2x Perfect Delicate Bloodstone (nett. 59 Agility), so it looks like it may last her 'til L80...

At some point I updated the gems to 2x Delicate Scarlet Ruby and am looking at no update available this side of the equivalent of iL 226 - what other item of gear has a FIFTEEN level usable life...?

I have this necklace on my 67 Mark Spec Hunter and it is very nice. I put 2 Delicate Blood Garnets (+6 Agi each) which gives me a total of 33 Agi on a neck item. Not too shabby.

Nice rogue necklace if you don't do too much instances. And it's only 65? Nice easy to make too. On Ursin server shadow pearl is 20g, the jaggal pearls are 60s each, and the mote of water are 50s each.

Just got this crafted from a friend...it DEFINATELY ROCKS... matts cost me about 25g (20G for the Shadow Pearl on AH)...i farmed the Jaggal pearls, easy to get in Zang and mote of water is a few silver...

Now for the Gems...hmmm.. i want crit and agility and i got 45,645 honor saved up so I might just head to the SW Champions hall and get that +10AP +5 Crit gem..

I looked to buy some but i dont know too much about gems but they seem overpriced for the amount of bonus you get

Farmed all the mats and had a friend make this for me. Threw 6 Sta 8AP gems in there and it's awesome. I'm a 70 hunter and so far the drops and quest rewards haven't come close.

If it's up for 75g or less, get it. You won't be sorry.

I have seen t6 hunters on my server wear this with 2 +10agi in it...41 agi 20 stam 3 hit is nice, but does it compare favorably in dps to, say, the SSO necklace? 18 agi 19 stam 64 AP? 41 agi is the highest you can get in a necklace, but is the extra 23 agi worth the -64 AP, not to mention the proc?

I have this as a MM hunter I put Bright Living ruby ((16 ap)) and the living ruby 8 agi gem I think its delicate not sure offthe top of my head and I really like the product of that as a MM hunter

I love this necklace, its perfect for a druid tank. What I did, however, is socket it with +15 Stamina Gems (Two each). Now, not only do I have +21 Agility (good for my dodge, I now have +50 Stamina as well. (+20 +15 +15 = +50).

Exspensive to socket that way, but worth it!
