The reason for using this over a Glowing Nightseye is to get a socket bonus. If for example you put in the Nightseye into a yellow socket, and the bonus you lose it +5 damage, you will have lost overall damage. If however, the slot is blue or red, go with the Nightseye.

Yeah, one of the main reasons I like it is coz it fits in a yellow socket and I havn't really seen any other good gems that do.

This blows everything else out of the water simply because it has hit, which per rating will yield a lot of % to hit (8 rating = 1% at 70, IIRC) all spells are going to benefit from hit, and you're going to be far from the hit ceiling (16% for level 73 mobs, IIRC). So, hands down, it's the best gem for damage output in end-game scenarios.

After patch 2.1, this gem will no longer be unique, so you can have as many of them as you want.

Aren't these Unique-equipped? because i have 2 on my bank and they are unique-equipped.. or is it because i got them before the patch?

This is an excellent gem for the raiding Shadow Priest needing to fill yellow sockets. Yes, one is tempted to go straight +9's, but some meta gems and even socket bonuses on Tier 5 and 6 are worthwhile.

A prime example is this socketed in a Hood of the Avatar.

Easily obtainable too.

AND as of 2.4 you can put as many of these gems on you as you want since they are no longer unique equip.

Just bought Leggings of the Seventh Circle for my Destro Lock off the AH, this came pre-socketed. Don't know why, but it seems socketing this into a BOE item does -not- make it Soulbound.

Dropped from last boss in heroic mechanar.
Good quality pve gem, especially for higher level raid dungeons where spell hit is important.

it's not unique, its unique socketed.

You can have your whole bank filled with them but only 1 can be socketed in any of your gear.

If you get more than one, why destroy it? Vendor it for an easy 3g, or keep it for if you replace the kit with the gem socketed...

Freaking resto shaman that mainhealed the heroic run outrolls me, an affliction lock on this gem. Pisses me off that healers roll for this. YOU DONT NEED SPELLHIT NEARLY AS MUCH AS I DO FOR ENDGAME PVE. Freaking A-holes.

A guy in another post suggested vendoring them for 3 gold if you get more than one......

Anyone that rolls on this gem to beat some1 who could use it so they can get 3g from vendor should be castrated.

Gems cost 50g do ur ppl in your group a favor and PASS on rolls you greedy fuks

Ummmmm healers dont need spell hit at all aka this is useless except for spell dmg, so in that case there are green gems better then this

The guy who wrote, Drops from last boss is wrong. It Drops from second to last boss in H Mech. I am an affliction lock and i dont like H Mech, Ive done it 3 times now and this has dropped twice. I got the first one and socketed it into my boots, But found out the hard way that you cannot have more than one of these socketed ANYWHERE in your armour. Hope this helps
