I think it depends where you're fishing. I'm currently fishing in Underbog, and can do it with a standard rod and 343 skill.

Its 330 for a chance to get a catch, but to guarantee no get aways, you need 425 skill. So make sure you get the lures out

A great place to get these is Ubrafen lake. With 400 total fishing I stopped getting the fish got away messages and hooked them every try.

When fishing for these at Umbrafen lake, you'll catch a lot of Barbed Gill Trout, so be sure to get te recipes for stewed trout at Kylene in World End's Tavern in Shattrah and Blackened Trout at Gambarinka in Zabra'jin (horde).

I fished for 10 minutes (lvl 298 +20 +75) at 76.9 , 64.0 and got:
22 Barbed Gill Trout
3 Spotted Feltail
2 Zangarian Sporefish
1 Inscribed Scrollcase (containing 2 scrolls of spirit V)
5 fish got away

don't be discouraged by the high skill level that some people have posted
I fished around the lake with a skill level of only 100, I used a regular +5 pole and nightcrawlers w/+50 on them
after a few minutes I got NO missed catches and NO trash/junk
here is what I caught
1 scroll case with scroll of protection
1 crate with 4 fel iron ore
1 sunspring carp
1 goldenscale vendor fish (worth 6g)
4 feltail
4 golden darter
10 zagarian sporefish

Pools of Spotted feltail can be found in Zangarmarsh. I've been fishing them from The Lagoon area found at 56,62. I've had no problem pulling them up with fishing 300 and a Big iron fishing pole.

This is used in the Feltail Delight recipe. This restores only 4320 health and gives a well fed buff of 20 stamina and spirit.

I have caught all of my Feltail on the banks by Garadar.

you can get the recipe for this in zangarmarsh :P tasty for horde it's at the east FP the <merchant> closest to the FP

Ok im at 290 fishign rigth now where do i go to make it so i can fish upto 375? please someone help me out. Also what level does my fishign need to be for outlands.

My fishing is @340 - can't fish in Outland/nagrand (get skill not high enough) without +75 added to my +25 pole; easier with the +100.
As far as where to go for 290+, skill ups anywhere but you'll get better fish in the higher zones. If you try out the Sunday 2-4pm (til 5pm to turn in) STV Tastyfish contest you'll skill up 10-20 points if you fish the whole 2hrs (ganking can be a problem too).

Fishing is leveld wherever you go... So you can get it to 375 in darnassus. IT takes like 10-15 fish for easch skil at around 300... try it

for advanced fishing, there is a fishing book in thrallmar and the master book is in Zangarmarsh/Cenarion Ridge area (guy is standing next to lake) - the master fishing guide will let you lvl your fishing all the way to 375.
