Don´t try to switch sides... you´ll burn yourself and give up on 1/2 way.

If this item don´t increase the reputation you want, trade for the ones you need. Its easy to find straight trades on reputation items between Aldor < - > Scryers.

By far the best place to farm these is Netherweb Ridge, around the area of 52, 81 (directly south of Allerian Stronghold, past Veil Shalas for those of you too lazy to get a coordinates mod). The poison on these guys is pretty strong. Unless cured, it's basically a guaranteed 1000 damage. I would like to note, however, that I have no nature resist at all, and I still full resist the posion around 30% of the time.

Mobs there are in the mid 60s, very easy for a competant person of level 70. If you find there is competetion there, it's probably just people doing quests. I find it easier to help them out, and ask if I can have the venom sacs when the quests are finished. Also, I've purchased quite a few at the rate of 1 gold per 3 sacs. Drop rate for me has been about 40%. I'm collecting roughly 40 sacs per hour, taking into account any eating/drinking time with moderate competetion for the spiders.

A side note: Because of the concentration of basilisks near the rivers, it's my opinion that it's easier to go from Aldor to Scryer. Good luck!

To above poster, the Aldor -> Scryer rep has it's downsides because you always have to get across the rivers and rquires you to always keep moving around, so would say it's rather equal.

If you're going from most hated to neutral you need 1344 of these babies, that's over 4000 kills. About 17 hours of pure grinding fun if you kill one every 15 seconds

My friend says this gives Sha'tar rep as well.. so farming sacs and eyes would be easy way to get Sha'tar honored (if your server sells no tier 1 marks/signets at ah or are ridicilously overpriced) before you do the rep quests for Sha'tar.

Gonna confirm this for me later.

If you took the wrong faction when you selected which one you go, and want to change your faction with these immediatly, you will need about 100 sacs to change reputation to neutral with aldor. Best place to grind these is directly south from Allerian Stronghold.

Aight, so these things drop off Dreadfang Lurkers and Widows and with an estimated (quite correct) drop rate of 34%. You turn these in, 8 by 8 to get 250 reputation per turn-in with the Aldor if you chose the Scryers by mistake, want to change for a pattern, going for the Feat of Strength achievement Hero of Shattrath or whatever reason you want to come up with.

Strained Supplies is the way to turn in this things, although you don't need the quest to loot them! Correct, you can farm these without the quest which you might also want, because the achievement will require you (from 0/36000 Hated) to turn in, not one, not two, but 1344 of these beauties (Warning: This is a calculation based on the non-Human races, for a Human, that would be 1224). Oh yes, that many. It takes you to Neutral, making you able to do quests for the Aldor, as well as other turn-in quests.

So how am I gonna get 1344 before I die, you ask? Well, here's the answer, aswell as a good route starting just outside the Alliance camp Allerian Stronghold (which is also a very good place to clear your bags in a way earning your money, unless you use addons like Loot Filter). So running back and forth between Allerian Stronghold and Netherweb Ridge south of it at the edge of Outland might not be so fun you think, but with the right resolve and some good music you can earn above 100 per hour. I succeeded in getting exacly 100 per hour a couple of times, so with some complex maths it's about a 13-14 hour farm.

I noticed that instead of pressing "B" every few seconds to see how many you've got left to gather, you can fix a macro. Because the game won't let you drag non-usable items out on the bars, you can always make something simple, such as;

Works really smooth. The icon shows how many you've got, and if you hold your mouse over it, it shows how much gold you're wasting not selling them to a vendor! (Combine this with an addon such as BankItems and you'll even see how many your account has, if you can't be arsed filling your farmer char's bags with them!)

So there you go, a small guide for farming the Feat of Strength achievement Hero of Shattrath!

Some good information here. Just wanted to add that by using an addon such as Button Forge, you can drag the venom sac straight onto an empty slot to track your progress instead of having to make a macro.

By far one of the more tedius rep grinds, Working on this now kinda makes me regret not doing it in wrath least then there would be a higher chance of seeing the sac's on the AH. So i now when leveling a new toon spend my time farming these on the toon between dungeons/bg's to alleviate some of the boredom

During the Hallow's End holiday, with the 10% reputation buff from the Wickerman and the 10% guild buff to reputation gain, my Tauren turned in 1120 venom sacs (140 turn-ins) at 300 reputation gain per turn-in (total 42000 rep gained) to become neutral with the Aldor.

The drop rate seems higher from the Dreadfang Lurker, as opposed to the Dreadfang Widow - say 25% more frequently from the Lurkers than the Widows. (Having just ground out this reputation switch, I have want to see another damn spider - *ever*.)

And don't you love how Blizz adds insult to injury. After grinding over 1200 of these, you can only turn in 8 at a time. This also took forever.

Would also like to point out that Mik's Scrolling Battle Text addon http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/mik-scrolling-battle-text will tell you how much you have of a given item every time you loot it with floating battle text. It's awesome for herb farming and also works for rep grind items like these. No wasting of an action bar slot required.

The newest patch makes it impossible to go from better than nuetral with one faction and using these quests to change sides. Its purely for after you pledge and decide "hmm, I think I made a mistake"

takes about 15 turn ins of 8 to go from unfriendly to nuetral and thats where it stops.

After that thier only use is to auction because I sure as hell would buy them since I wanted aldor, chose aldor, then did the stupid basalisk quest and became unfriendly with both.

best drop rate for this is by far the lurkers, but they can also be purchased for about 25s a piece in org.

Does anyone know if I can do the following...

1) Raise my aldor rep to exhalted, and learn Pattern: Flameheart Vest
2) Use these items to switch sides (ugh, horrible grind, but can be done)
3) Raise my scryer rep to exhalted, and learn Pattern: Runic Spellthread

At this point, can I now create via tailoring both flameheart vest and runic spellthread. This pattern items require the rep to LEARN the recipe, but is the rep required to actually use the recipe to make items?

Just curious, I'm not anywhere near exhalted with aldor as yet, but I want to know if it's worth saving these items as I grind for netherweb silk

I had to farm Netherweb Spider Silks to increase tailoring skill, so I decided to keep count of how many kills and the assorted drops rates for the items. I only killed Dreadfang Widows and I fought along the edge of The Bone Wastes, making a circular pattern to make sure I hit all the areas the Dreadfang Widows spawn.
The results:
Kills: 150
Dreadfang Venom Sacks: 55 (36.67%)
Netherweb Spider Silk: 22 (14.67%)
Huge Venom Sack: 4 (2.6%)
Assorted Green Items: 3 (2.0%)

Did this in about 3 hours, with detours to hit mining nodes on occasion. Hope this helps you with your farming. Good Luck!

These venom sacs are used when you are bored (like me). You can get Aldor Reputation for these if you are below neutral with Aldor.

These have only a couple of purposes.

1) You can use them if you accidentally chose the wrong faction to ally with, and wish to change it. Turn in the item (these for Aldor rep or Dampscale Basilisk Eyes for Scryer rep) until you are neutral with the faction that you wish to be.

2) You can use them as kind of a loophole to gain reputation with Sha'tar. Each time you turn in a Mark of Kil'jaeden or a Firewing Signet you will gain some reputation with Sha'tar as well as with Aldor/Scryers. This reputation does not show up in your chat log or scrolling combat text, but it is there. Check your reputation with Sha'tar before and after a turn-in if you do not believe it. The problem is that when you are grinding rep this way you will lose your ability to turn in the Marks of Kil'jaeden or a Firewing Signets at honored reputation. This will only get you slightly into friendly with Sha'tar since you gt only half the rep with them for a turn-in. You could go to the higher level marks and signets which also give Sha'tar rep, but you will have to be level 67 or so to farm them easily. So if you wish to continue turning in the lower level marks/signets to also put Sha'tar rep near to honored then you should use these to lower your rep by turning in the item for the opposing faction. That will lower your reputation so that you can continue to turn in the lower marks/signets for Sha'tar rep.

You been exalted with Scryers, you gather 1 bizillion venom sacs (actually just a mere 1344) so you are neutral with aldor.. Can you choose this quest then? Or do i have to get my hands on 9 Fel Armaments?

You can use these venom sacs to turn into shatt. to get Aldor rep.
(Note:Turning these in will give you +250 per turn in, but decrease Scryer by -275)

From what I understand is that this is exactly what you use to change factions. I don't think there is another way for that other that the turn in quests.

You only get rep from this quest until Friendly so logistically, It was put in place for scryers to switch to aldor instead of current aldors gaining rep.

thottbot drop rate inaccurate, I'm on my 528th kill, and it's still about 33%-34%, approx 1/3.
