I find this bag to be INVALUABLE for Mining. For me, because I'm a pack rat, gems stack up pretty high, and this bag is great for minimizing the impact they have on my bank slots.

As any other profession-bag (e.g. Bag of Many Hides, Mycah's Botanical Bag , Reinforced Mining Bag, Spellfire Bag etc.), it is unique-equipped in the inventory but not in the bank, you can place as many as possible of it in the bank slots.

Note that you can't replace a normal container with any profession-bag if there is already one of the same type in the bank.
You'll have to clear the bag slot first in order to place it in there.

Also note, you can not put any crafted non-gem items that are peripheral to Jewelcrafting into this bag, which I was VERY disappointed to find out the hard way.

For example, Bronze Settings can not go into this bag, even though they have no purpose other than Jewelcrafting.

For bags associated with a gathering profession, (skinning, mining, and herbalism bags) this rule makes sense.

However, among bags associated with crafting professions, this bag is the unfortunate exception. (Both the Engineering bags and the Enchanting bags, for example, allow you to store peripheral ingredients, like a Bronze Tube or an Arclight Spanner for Engineering, or any Primals or Essences in an Enchanting bag.)

Therefore it isn't quite as widely useful as an Enchanting bag is to an Enchanter, or an Engineering bag is to an Engineer. Its primary utility is if you have a ton of gems you need to store, which is a comparatively rather narrow range of utility, given the high cost of raw materials needed to create this bag.

Personally I love this bag. I can store so many jewels in this thing Jean Simmons would be ashamed. I just love the way it buldges and jingles when its full, telling everyone your rich in pride of your hard earned precious stones. Besides, it makes a great chat joke to talk about your jewels all the time.

You can buy the pattern from Consortium Quartermasters found in either Netherstorm or Nagrand when your reputation is Honored for 4 gold.

It seems rather disappointing, given the mats. You can get this for a LOT cheaper, and it only has 4 less slots. I am not sure why Blizz doesn't make a JC version of this, for example.

I see a reason why its only 24 slot ones on market. There are 6 different colors of each raw gem, so you can put each color from up to down in one row in that bag. Mostly we have 3 different qualities of gems, green-blue-purple, so you can put one of them in each row. Last column can easily stack raw meta ones. In the end, we have nicely filled raw gem bag. A jewelcrafter mostly wont need to cut gems in advance, so i think its 24 is enough. But true bankers have better times with 20-22 slot ones.

Blacksmith = mining bag
Tailors = 22 slot bag
Gem bag = GIVE US A BIGGER ONE!

With that logic, the mining bags are Jeweler's bags as well...

Once again the JS'c get screwed. It takes us forever to get all of the paterns because we can only get them with dailies (most just buy the paterns and start making gold), and with all of the mats (672) compared to miners, inscriptionists, enchanters... we have to work with we get a small bag to work with. ever wonder who a blizzard has it out for us?

Why haven't they added a bigger gem bag yet?
In fact, why do cut gems not stack beyond 1?
Possibly because Blizzard wants gems to be available at all times for a reasonable price. One cannot hoard endless amounts of gems in his bags because it's just not possible so they have to sell.

It would be nice to see a new gem bag in all honesty. I usually have two stacks of each on many gems, not to mention I keep some old Wolk gems on hand for alts that need the once in a while gemming. I can understand why it's not blizzards "main" priority to create a large gem bag, however I'm sure there are a few players out there who have 20-40 gem cuts they keep for Auctions, alts, and friends. And lets face it, these specialty bags are designed for convenience, not necessity. If engineers, herbalists, inscriptionists, and enchanters have them, why not jewelcrafters?

This bag now does hold the Mercurial stone. It will also hold any dust from prospecting. Also of note - the mining bag will also hold dusts from prospecting.

In addition to Gems, you can put most pearls in the Gem bag too. Blue pearls are an exception, however. They are not allowed.

It's a gem bag. Used for holding gems. Like herb bags are for herbs and enchanting bags are for enchanting mats.

If your jewelcrafter happens to be a mage, mana gems will also go in your gem bag. Kind of handy since I made my Draenei mage a jewelcrafter.

The bag also hold raw or cut gems. Since someone asked. Plus it holds a Jeweler's kit and Simple Grinder. Too bad it doesn't hold Mercurial Stone then it would be perfect.

It DOES hold Arcane Crystals. It will NOT hold any other mined items like ores or smelted bars. Get a mining bag for those. And no motes or Primals either.

Tried with Aqamarines, Citrines, and all pearls as well.

Root mats are 108 netherweave cloth, 12 arcane dust, and the 4 knothide leather.

Oddly even though the bag will hold all the other pearls it will not hold blue pearls

I got mine for 24g is that a good price? I'm suprised since we have very high prices for most items on our server. I got it at lvl 40 and it was well worth it.
