I think the buyout price should be 200-250 range. Given the mats and the buyout here for each:

Dawnstone 40g ea x 2- 80g
Khorium bar 15g ea x 4 - 60g
Adamantite ore 1.1g ea x 30 - 33g
= 173g a 3g loss for the lucky engineer.

In hindsight this is probably one of the cheapest ways to max out a service profession. I just made 3 scopes for under 150g buying the mats from the AH. Either people don't know the prices or they just want to sell it cheap.

can someone please confirm this for me. I was told that this scope can be traded to a lvl 55 and that person can put it on your bow/gun via the will not be traded box. I saw a twink with one of these awhile back on his venomstrike bow and i would like to do the same, but i am unsure of this information since recent patches and he said/she said info. Cause I also know that clefthide armor can be added to leggings of a low lvl as long as a lvl 70 applies them.

Level 70 Arc/Fire Mage. Took 278 Sunfury Bowman for this to drop. 91 Signets and 8 Arcane Tomes along the way though :)

I just confirmed that the scope cannot be equipped on lower level items. I purchased the scope and attempted to attach it to the Hurricane using a L70 character. The attachment failed and gave me the error message "Target is too low level".

Ok, just had this baby drop after about an hour of grinding at Manaforge Duro, and made it for myself. I want to start selling it, but not sure for what amount (Skullcrusher,US) . Any of you guys have sold it? How much? Are u doing it free with their mats just to grind to 375? Thanks!

this is because FIRST if u didnt check Hurricanes Item level is 53 The scope is 55 at least meaning it wouldnt work anyways you should really check your items before u try it :)

Took me 2 Hours of farming Bowmen at the Manaforge but I managed to get this and Im really satisfied that I finally have a decent scope. I recommend this for any Engineer whos just a lil bored, just go out and farm it a bit.

It says "Requires Level 55"... For what? To wield a weapon that has one? To attach it? Item level required to attach it?

I'm assuming you need to be level 55 or higher to attach it to a weapon, so can you get a high-level to attach it for you, right?

Confirmed. It drops off Sunfury Bowman. Less then 20 kills for me.

It adds +12 dmg on both the top and bottom ends of your weapon dmg.

If you have a 155-205 dmg range on a crossbow for instance, this scope will upgrade it to 167-217 dmg range.

Do not underestimate this scope.

It is important to remember that the +12 damage is NOT calculated against a target's armor. If you are fighting a warrior or one of those annoying rock-giant elites, the plus damage will be alot more effective than it would be against a mage or priest.

i.e.
If you hit a Warrior for 421 damage it would acutally do 433 damage. (Approx. 2.9% increase)

If you hit a Mage for 714 damage it would actually do 726 damage. (Approx. 1.7% increase)

I'm not a hunter, but personally I would go for one of the + Hit/Crit/AP scopes, but good luck finding an engineer who can craft them, as the schematics are crazy hard to find..

1: Drops of sunfury bowman on the west side of Manaforge Duro.(they line the mountain ridge shooting mana ghost)

2: You do NOT have to be 360 or over in Eng to get the drop, you just have to be a ENG or you wont see it drop (suck on that farmers):oP o\o

3: Dont bash your computer if you dont get it in less then 100 kills.And even if you didnt get it in 400 you will be at least be nearly exalted with scryers or aldor, sunfury signets sell for about 1g each, and arcane tomes 25g (big $$)

4:This is easyier to get then the felsteel boomstick which drops from Doomforge Engineers at
forge camp anger in Blades Edge Mt.

5. True or not i have noticed from my exp and past comments this drops faster if you are in groups or when doing a related quest,(try it for your self)

6. Even know this is a waste of money to make, just charge a fee & use their mats to make it that way you lvl skills. SAVE your dawnstone! for the next patch when you can make epic helms for all classes

The Scope Dilemma:
Crit vs. Damage

What I've found is that the amount that adding crit% benefits is totally dependent on your Damage dealt. Conversely, the amount that adding damage dealt benefits is totally dependant on your current crit%

The following numbers are based on a Hunter with Mortal Shots
(30% damage increase to critical strikes).
Also, the numbers are per 100 shots fired.

16% crit 1449 added by +12 scope
18% crit 1481 added by +12 scope
20% crit 1512 added by +12 scope
22% crit 1543 added by +12 scope
24% crit 1574 added by +12 scope
26% crit 1605 added by +12 scope
28% crit 1636 added by +12 scope

400 median damage 728 added by crit scope
500 median damage 910 added by crit scope
600 median damage 1092 added by crit scope
700 median damage 1274 added by crit scope
800 median damage 1456 added by crit scope

What I notice from this is the steady increase gained by the damage (+12) scope, with increased crit%, contrasted with the exponential growth of the value of +crit when you reach higher damage. however, these levels of damage will likely only be reached by a Hunter in top quality gear and with a full raid buff. Myself, I am at 22% crit and gain the 1543 damage from my +12 scope. To get the equal or greater benefit from the crit scope I'd have to be somewhere between 800 and 900 median damage, which I am nowhere close to. So for the forseeable future, I'll be sticking with the damage scope.

I had crafted a spare Khorium scope and had my friend's lvl 19 twink trade his pea shooter to my lvl 70. I could not apply the scope with both the scope and gun (item lvl 21) in my lvl 70's inventory. This does NOT work like the cleft armor kits. This item CANNOT be applied to lvl 19 twink weapons using any method. You will always get an error saying the item is too low level.

It was worth a shot, but it does not work guys =(!

An easy way to compare this scope to the crit rating scope:

12 divided by the Ranged Attack Speed on your character sheet(not the one on the gun or bow), then multiply that number by 14.

That converts damage into raw attack power, for me sitting at 2.28 attack speed this scope is worth about 74 attack power, more when I use rapid fire or IAotH procs. So... for me I'm gona use this scope over the 28 crit rating one.

ok alot of people are trying to decide wether to have the +12 damage scope or the +28 crit rating scope.

heres how i figured it all out

The 12 damage one will add +12 damage to ALL of your shots.

The crit rating gives you 1.27 crit change at level 70.

So lets say you just got a good bow and ALL your auto shots hit for 988 (this is just an example there is no such bow that will give you that)

so lets see.

100 divded by 1.27 would be 79 shots.

So after 79 shots a crit would most probably happen (its all a chance thing)

so if you were doing 988 damage on all your shots in 79 shots it would double it. 988 X 2 = 1976

so because of your scope you just got granted an extra 988 damage in 79 shots.

Now lets say you had the +12 damage scope.

In 79 shots your would have

79 X 12 = 948.

so lets see in 79 shots you just got:

948 bonus damage from +12 dmg scope

OR

988 damage bonus from +28 crit rating.

SO all in all the crit bonus scope in this case is better.

BUT WAIT! theres more.

if you have 20 points in marks then you have "mortal shots" which increases your ranged criticles by 30 percent.

so now you have 988 X 2.30 = 2272

divide 2272 by 2 and you have 1136.

So because if your scope you just got granted 1136 extra damage.

So acording to my calculations (which are somewhat short sighted but are right in my opnion) the +28 crit rating IS better.

but you have to keep in mind:

with the +12 damage scope in 3 shots your ALWAYS going to have 36 bonus damage

with the scope which adds crit rating you could have an extra 2964 damage ( if your auto shots were 988 damage)or you could have 0 bonus damage.

its all a chance thing.

MY OVERALL OPNION:

if you have mortal shots trained with 5 points in it, get the +crit rating scope

if you dont have mortal shots get the +12 damage scope.

why would you get the +12 damage scope if you dont have mortal shots when it would still probably grant you more damage? because the 12 damage is a constant stream of damage, and the crit rating is jumps of damage. Its kind of like having a slow weapon, huge crits and you pull agro. the scope that adds +12 damage is like having a faster weapon, constant stream of damage with smaller crits

Faster weapon get this one. More shots with this leads to more damage overall, because this will have more effect on every shot. Slow weapon get crit scope, since it already does some huge damage, and the added crit can help get huge numbers.

Essentially you have to look at in a DPS perspective. Yes, 1 crit with a +28 crit rating can legitamately make up for the shots taken with a +12 scope. But realistally 1% crit = 14 AP = 1 DPS. you can dig very deep in the hunter forum for that if you like. www.tkasomething.com will have it. Essentially depending your spec & weapon speed. BM typically is a DPS spec with faster lower damage shots. My weapon speed Sunfury bow with talents has a 2.1 attack speed. now 12dmg/2.1 is almost 6 DPS. 28 crit rating is about 1.1 DPS. I know it doesnt make sense but essentially over a longer period of time you will see more dmg from 12 dmg vs 28 crit rating. Also keep in mind that it adds 12dmg on a hit, 24dmg on a crit because its raising the base dmg of the weapon.

Now, I've read all of these comments. Most of what has been said makes sense. I understand you can not add this scope to an item for a 19 or a 29 twink. Just like you can not add TBC enchants to most 19 or 29 twinks (There are some exceptions, with quests)
But TBC enchants CAN go on 39 or 49 twinks.
Does anyone know if you can add this to a 39 hunter twink for instance? Such as on Bow of Searing Arrows (37 epic BOE bow).

It would make sense how someone said it requires a bow above level 50, because that's what it says. But the leg armor also "Requires Level 60." And every twink uses that.

Has anyone tried to put this scope (or the 28 Crit) on a 39 or 49 twink?

I'm willing to try it, but that crit bow is expensive -.-

PLEASE tell us what lvl bow/gun this can be mounted on and by whom. Someone above said it can be mounted on a lvl 50 weapon even though it says lvl 55 at the top of the page. Why Bliz doesn't make this crystal clear is ridiculous, but that's why we're all here on thott, right? So let's be friends.

BTW in regards to the question above I don't know if this can be fitted on a MHB but I doubt it, since the MHB is a lvl 43 item. I had a friend mount a +7 Sniper Scope on my MHB after I got it at lvl 30 (and I am replacing it at lvl 45 with the Mauradon bow, which gives you an idea of how good the MHB is). So as long as the bow is 40+ and as long as the person mounting it is 40+, it works.

Does it follow, then, that for this scope to work the bow has to be 55+ and the person mounting it has to be 55+?

Please confirm if you have *personally* equipped a bow or handed your bow/gun for someone to equip--don't guess. Thanks.

BTW Verdant Keeper's Aim--aka the Mauradon Bow--is a lvl 53 item, so it's important to know whether or not this scope can be mounted on it, since it's probably the best bow you can get at lvl 45, and it's a quest reward. So please comment if you've mounted the +12 scope on this particular bow. Thank you Engineers!

Probably one of the biggest pains to farm.. there are tons of bowman but u wanna stay away from most of them because of the annoying adds you'll have to fight if u kill the bowmen. Not to mention plenty of pats. about 2 hours in and no drop yet.

Tried on and off for a couple of weeks to kill bowmen (maybe 5 sessions at 20 mins each). Dropped off one today - I think it was the 3rd kill of the day.

I know many have already said it, but I'd like to add, that I farmed those bowmen on both sides for about 3 hours, and finally one dropped off of the ones on the East hill(schematic). I hope to at the very least be able to craft free ones with their mats to skill up to 375.

definitely worth farming if you wanna get to 375 quickly. I was stuck at 370 forever with only the goggles to advance so i went to farm this and it dropped in 7 kills.

recipie droped for me after about 200 kills but u get added bounuses aswell along the way like arcane tomes i got 12 plust about 120+sunfury signets and %^&* loads of cloth

I got mine today in Netherstorm. 55,64 off the sunfury bowman. It took right at 40 kills and it dropped along with a random green. Just be careful, there is a quest guy there so alot of people kill your target.

I found mine around 62'61 but it changes each day so the location is useless. Took me about 3.5 hours of circling around the Manaforge. I did pick up about 12 stacks of netherweave cloth, 8 Arcane tomes, a bunch of greens that are worth a lot. It was a pain but in the end I made a lot of gold on this one.

The mats cost on Rexxar are around 60 adamantite ores : 100g, 8 khorium ores : 80g, 2 dawnstones : 80g, 260g... around 300g for the scope
