This is a 50% drop out of the Chest of Majordomo in Molten Core. If the Eye of Divinity drops (which is 50% drop rate) then the leaf will not.

Ok, Fellow Hunters this quest is a bit of a pain, but is easy if you read up on all the tactics.

So im going to try and help you lot.

Once you start the Quest you have 4 Demons to slay.

When looking for the Demons, make sure you are Tracking Demonoids and not humans, Make's it a little easier to find them as they walk around the areas because it can be a pain to find them.

Demon Name: Klinfran the Crazed
Location: Burning Steppes - Normally on the West Side.

This guy is about Patience. Make sure you have Stam / Int buffs. And take along a few mana pots and healing pots. If you loose all your mana you going to fail this quest!

Now there is a couple of ways you can do this, most people recommend Kiting him, although I don't. If you kite you run the risk of bumping into other players or mobs. Which will make life a bit hard.

Ok, Tactics.
Every 15 Seconds Klifran goes into a State of Frenzy Where he will deal allot of dmg. Use Scorpid Sting ( Highest Rank ) - This will take away his Frenzy once fired at him. (Check buffs) Do NOT Fire this before 15 seconds after the 1st Frenzy other wise it wont work. Once Applied he will deal 1 dmg every hit for the next 15 seconds.

So 1st, As you walk up to him, Fire Scorpid Sting (And make sure it hits), then go melee on him, try not to use all of your mana because you will need it. Try to count to about 10 - 13 seconds after you fired the 1st shot then when you get to 10 - 13 seconds hit him with wingclip and get away from him, this will slow him down and give you enough time to get range.

Once at range, Fire the next Scorpid Sting then repeat what you just did. Keep doing this until you kill him. That's it.

This to be aware of: After you apply WingClip there is a chance he can daze you, so be ready to fire scatter shot or use Warstomp to slow him down so you can get range.

Demon Name: Simone
Location: Un'Goro Crater - Normally South West of Fire Plume Ridge.

Pretty easy this one. There is a woman with a Felhound.
Make sure you have the Stam and Int buffs again.

Tactics: Lay and Ice Trap, Aimed Shot the Demon (Simone), Then Concussive Shot, then ViperSting (To Silence her) and wait for the demon to get trapped in the Ice Trap. Then its pretty much about Melee again on the demon. Watch for her Lightning and try to interupt this with Scatter shot.

Once she is dead, you can get help from friends to take the demon down. This will not affect the quest.

Demon Name: Solenor (Nelson the Nice)
Location: Silithus - Normally around 25,79.

Bring along some friends (And a Warlock) to help keep the area clean from mobs. Before you start (Around 25,79) Clear ALL the mobs from the area, this will buy you some valued time.

Tactics:
Before you start this demon, Get the Warlock to Duel you. Tell them to Put Curse of Recklessness on you (This will make you immune to fear). Also, take some Shadow Prot Pots, and make sure you have every buff possible :p

Start:
Apply Hunters Mark to him. Start the fight with Arcane Shot or Multishot, When he runs towards you Hit him with WingClip (Rank3) This stuns him so he cant move. Get max range and open fire. Now beware of the beetles that will follow you around (Try to go in a Circle at all times around him when he is stuck) No need to worry about the 1st few beetles (Multishot will help to kill the beetles). Carry on with Ranged DPS until the stun breaks, he will approach you, hit him with WingClip again, maybe use Scatter Shot before he gets to you. When there is allot of Beetles Wait until they are all together and Fire Volley onto them right after getting into ranged position. They have relatively low life and are easy to kill. Although they will cause allot of dmg to you. and stun you.

Demon Name: Artorius
Location: Winterspring - Start the Kite at 58,12, Then go South.

This is a simple Kite, Take along some friends (On lvl 60+ Mounts) to take away agro in your path.

Tactics:
Basically, keep this guy at max range ALL THE TIME. Start off with a Aimedshot then use SerpantSting on him, SerpantSting will stack and cause allot of dmg to him, (this is how he dies). Start at the top of the hill and Run down it, when you get to the bottom, take a right and run on the left side of Everlook (The Town) By then you should be dead. If not keep kiting.

With the new patch talents, it makes the quest a lot easier for marksman spec hunters. Your dps is increased majorly if you spec the correct way, thus making the demons a lot easier to kill. As he said though, bring pots and whatever buffs you can. The sooner you finish the quest, the sooner you get your wonderful weapons.

A little-known fact - after you spawn any of the demons, you can be partied with another hunter, let THAT hunter kill the demon for you while you don't touch it, and if you have loot on Free For All, you can still loot the head (not sure if you can loot multiple heads)

Being a level 78 hunter at the moment of writing this, I also can confirm that the whole quest chain around Ancient Petrified Leaf is still active in Patch 3.3. I specifically went for it to Majordomo Executus yesterday and was lucky to get it out of his Cache at the very first kill.

That done, I went to Vatrus the Ancient, one of the three old trees in Felwood. Turning in this quest then will give access to one new quests from each tree.
(Advise: you will have to dismount to be able to turn it in/see the question mark!)

Ancient Sinew Wrapped Lamina
This quest requires a Mature Blue Dragon Sinew which can be bought from the Auction House or be looted from either Azuregos or blue elite dragonkin in Winterspring.

Reward: Ancient Sinew Wrapped Lamina (18-slot Quiver)
Stave of the Ancients
Here you have to kill four level 60 elite demons: Simone in Ungoro Crater, Solenor/Nelson in Silithus, Artorius in Winterspring and Kilfran/Franklin in the Burning Steppes. (Advise: do not engage them with your pet. This will result in the demons fleeing from you and despawning for good half an hour. Just do it solo.).

Reward: Ancient Rune Etched Stave
A Proper String
After you accepted the quest you will simply have to head to the Burning Steppes (where you have to go for the other kill quest anyhow) and kill any black dragonkin there to acquire the Mature Black Dragon Sinew. This is a 100% drop, the tooltip will provide this information as well. It is said to still drop from Onyxia as well, though it seems fairly more complicated than going solo to the 'steppes.

Reward: Enchanted Black Dragon Sinew + Achievement: Onyxia (Level 60)

Combining the Ancient Rune Etched Stave with the Enchanted Black Dragon Sinew will ultimately give you the famous Rhok'delar, Longbow of the Ancient Keepers.

FURTHERMORE, Vatrus will give you Lok'delar, Stave of the Ancient Keepers once you talk to him again. There will be no further question mark, you simply have to talk to him again.

Just happened to pick up this leaf today when running around Molten Core helping some players get the achievement.

Figured that at lvl 80 it would/should be a piece of cake. Only one little problem. Tried Artorius in Winterspring first. He despawned as soon as I hit him. Thought it was because I was in a group (other player did not hit him) . Waited around for him to respawn and same thing happened. Guess it is not going to work for a lvl 80.

Edit - Went back, unequipped all weapons and then beat Artorius. Will try the same thing on the other three.

Killed Simone and her friend in Ungor without weapons.
Got tired of slapping them around until they gave up so with Solenor/Nelson in Silithus I started on him without weapons but the bugs were getting to me so equipped and killed him.
Kilfran/Franklin in the Burning Steppes I engaged with weapons equipped and all was fine.

Did you have your pet out?

I tried it last week after also getting it as an ICC10/25 geared hunter.

I engaged Artorius with no bow/sword equiped. Pet was still out, so I quickly put him on passive. I'm not sure if itwas that or the no-weapons, but then he went down easily.

The other tree I took without pet out and without sword but with Zodd's bow.

Too bad you cannot repeat it, else we could have determined what it exactely is.

Anyway, just put your pet in and fight him with fistst. They are easy enough and that the fight takes a bit longer is actually fun so you can see what their abilities are.

Still in patch 4.0.1, will most likely be removed with 4.0.3.

As long as you don't have your pet out, these go down in about 10-30 seconds. Wing Clip, disengage, a couple of arcane shots, and concussive shots, and they are dead.

I completed this quest line on my lvl 65 hunter a few days ago.
Granted she is epic complete with her gear full dragnstalkers kit which helped
also carries 2 epic 1 handed axes.

Just to confirm this must be completed solo!
No pet at all as the they will de spawn,
No help from anyone else,
Its the only way you will be able to complete this quest.

The hardest 1 is the one in Burning Stepps but if you read the guides posted
and use the advice its relativly easy.

I just finished the whole questline at level 60 (turned off XP just to be able to do this...) and honestly it's a cakewalk in 4.0.1 as long as you spec for it. My leveling spec was Beastmaster, so naturally I was nothing but a greasy smear the first couple times I tried it. Then I went back to Org and dual-specced into a Survival, solo/kiting spec. After respeccing I got Arturious and Klinfran in 3 tries each, and one-shot Solenor and Simone. https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/talent#cZZhbGfRGbo was the spec I used. In hindsight, I probably should have put the points from Counterattack and Entrapment into some combination of Toxicology and Noxious Stings.

The trick to the demons now is 1) NEVER let them get in melee range, 2) Distracting Shot on cooldown, 3) MORE DOTS!, 4) Traps on cooldown.

With Disengage not available at 60, at least 2 of the demons immune to Counterattack (Arturious & Klinfran, I never tried it on Solenor/Simone), and their run speed faster than Cheetah, if the demons get to you, it's over.

Distracting shot is now absolutely free, can be used on the run, and will keep the demon glued to you while you wait for your focus to regen. Try to spread it between your actual shots to reduce the chance of your demon evading.

The majority of my damage on the demons was from Serpent Sting and Explosive Shot. (One of the demons kept removing my Serpent Sting, though; I think it was Franklin? Don't remember.) DoTs are your highest damage per focus abilities, and you want to conserve your focus to prevent evasion. If you just unload at the beginning, you're going to go OOF quickly and spend too long running without shooting, causing them to evade and reset.

Because DoTs are good and focus is scarce, Lock and Load is amazing. Even if you aren't in danger of being caught, try to trap on cooldown for more Lock and Load procs. Also, I think this was a bug, but my Ice Trap was not proccing Lock & Load. None of the demons were immune to Freezing Trap, though, so I stuck to that and it all worked out OK.

By the way, I pulled Simone by using Wyvern Sting on Precious, and oddly the felhound never aggroed on me. I rode past the place where I had left her on my way back to the flight point, and she was just standing there, still in demon form, not CCed at all. I hope some poor leveling Alliance player finds her!

For reference, in addition to my vanilla gear I was wearing heirlooms (PVP gun, PVP daggers, PVP shoulders, PVE chest) and 2 blues from Hellfire Ramps (ungemmed). None of my gear was enchanted.

If Blizzard was all ready prepared (in broad strokes) to put out transmog when cata was released, I can see them wanting to remove these epic (but now easily solo'd) class quests. Things like rhok'delar, Benediction/Anathema. Though this is along the same "wth blizz" lines as not allowing the HWL/GFM lvl60 pvp gear to be transmogged by those who did not first earn HWL/GFM.

Ok...every since this new patch it always drops in Domos Chest...Domos is the boss be4 the last boss...Ragnaros..when u get the leaf u gtg to felwood and u get 3 quests..1 quest tells you have to go to Burning Steppes, Winterspring, Un'Goro, and Silithus and kill 4 demons solo..if aggro goes off of u they de-spawn and u have to start over. Then you must get a Mature Black Dragon Sinew off of Onyxia then when u are finished with the 3 quests u turn them in and u get the staff and the bow...the staff and bow are badass, they look AMAZING and they hurt to any1 who takes a hit with it...staff or bow...

1) It's one leaf that drops. Either this or the priest epic drops in each week, so it's a 50% chance. So it might take a few weeks to get it, even once you're up to Domo.

2) To complete the quest you also need Mature Black Dragon Sinew from Onyxia, which has an erratic drop rate.

3) There is a related epic quiver that you need Mature Blue Dragon Sinew from Azuregos for. You need the leaf to turn in the sinew.

4) There isn't a gun reward. At least you *have* an epic weapon quest. This isn't an issue of fairness or anything, it's just the design time is better spent elsewhere.

5) Like all items that swap from one form to another, enchants are lost when you do so, and I think the item repairs itself as well.

6) It drops off of Majordomo's cache. He's the 9th boss in Molten Core, the second to last (before Ragnaros) and the second hardest (after Ragnaros). Lucifron is the first boss in Molten Core. The "Gateway" bosses that people take a couple weeks to kill in MC are usually Lucifron, Magdamar, Geddon, and Majordomo, then you take a few weeks to kill Ragnaros, though this varies per guild and class setup. With my guild's initial lack of warlocks it was Luci, Mag, Garr, and the dreaded "Stupid Buggy Instance Porting Us Out or Not Spawning Rag Again" bosses.

Since you're killing rock-hard demons for this quest, it would prolly be a good idea to get demonslayer enchants on your melee weps.

1/ this bow isn't easy to get by any stretch of imagination.

2/ there are better bows and guns in game, so please no more "it's not fair on dwarves!" Go and get a better gun and give me the bow.

3/ drop rate is 50% on Domo, a very tactically challenging boss. If you want practice, try the bloodlord in ZG. As that requires placement and fire control, except this has 8 adds. The leaf only gives you the staff. The bow takes the Onyxia drop which is averaging at 1 in 9 runs. so lol lol good luck

if ur not there for the majordomo kill and ur in the raid but not in the instance, and say that it dropped, and u wanted it. can u go inside the isntance and get a summon? would u be able to loot it?

The Winterspring demon was made to be killed by serpent sting -_-;. And "yes" serpent sting does stack. Well atleast on this boss. When it stacks it does about 800-900 damage a second. Thats the key to winning the fight. -_-;

SAVE YOU DKPs for this Ancient Petrified Leaf -
When it drops in MC - spend enough DKPs to get this leaf. Complete this quest. This may take a long, long time, but it is worth it!

Lot s of pple on forums say that the winter one is easy... "Just kite him" "just use dot + lvl 1 arcane shot" !

I tryed this demon maybe 10 times. He bugged 2 times on the road when he was almost dead, 1 time 1 horde hunter drop a trap between me and the demon (GG!), and most of the 7 other try we were 2-3 hunters waiting for him. & i was stressed due to the fact that i will not be allowed to try it again if i die due to the long hunters queue, and he killed me each with the "malediction" ...

I m not good with it but i ve only saw 1 hunter killing him since i ve started this ! So i ll be very please to read more strategy about this one like good move, more tips etc... and not only "Dot + arcane rank 1" ;)

Is it true that you get both the staff AND the bow upon the completion of the quest?

Edit: to confirm, you DO get both the staff and the bow (and the pouch if you so desire) for this quest. YOu can no longer transform the bow and the staff, you just get both.

For hunters who doesn t have much money - time and patience for this quest :

1) Having someone like a priest during all your attempts is a very very good thing.
- If u die, he rez quickly and heal and u go quickly again (more attempts, more trainning, more xp, = u ll down the demon faster.
- if u die, he rez, and by this way u can allways have a look on your demon and no more loose 3 hours because of a randomly noob who was trying to shot him.
- if u take the Winter demon malediction, u can FD, the priest clean u heal u and you will not die (very good for the repair bill)

2) Winter demon :
X 1 Aspect of the Chetaah buff
X 1 mana potion (medium or big one depend of your mana gears, and how u spam the shots.
End.

3) Silithus demon :
X 1 Aspect of the Hk.
X 2 Shadow pots (big one)
All sort of healling things are welcome
- (Major Healling pots, H.S Ungoro crystals, bandages etc...).
X 1 Shadow buff from your dear priest (before the fight)

Cheat : Open duel with a lock before the fight and ask him to cast curse of w on you.. u will not be feared during the next 2 minutes.
-------------
Tips : If u have some shadow gears take them too.
U can also have Exlxir of demon slaying / mongoose / agility / armor / etc.. but you can do it without them too..
End.

4) Ungoro demon :
X 1 Aspect of the Wd
X 1 Nature pot (big one to be sure).
X 1 Heal potion (big one)
It s enough...

Now if your gears are still green / blue or if your attack power is low or others troubles...
X 1 elixir of the Moongose
X 1 elixir of demonslaying can help.
X 1 Armor pot / stamina buff etc... too
There is a thing who can slept the ad during the fight but i forgot it, anyway you can tank it easily.

5) B. Steppes demon :
X 1 Aspect of the monkey
X 2 Mana pots (bigs)
it s enough and maybe too much.

As usual having Elixir of demonslaying / mongoose / healing pots etc is good... but if u do the good things it s easy to "perfect" this one.

That was just a little list of things. I guess that they are good to know. This topic is not a strategy guid for demon kill... newcomers will have to read more about the fight itself.

This staff & bow are useless in BC if u dont have the BC yet then u are basicly out of getting the bow & staff unless u have a great guild and helps u with MC

Zeeper, the chest despawns in 5 mins. You will only get the chest the first time you kill Domo. (You must kill Domo to spawn Rag... so if you don't get Rag the first time, you will have to kill Domo again. No loot the second time.)

The great thing about it being a chest is that you can camp hunters that dont have it outside the instance... once it drops, you can log over to the leafless hunter, and summon them in. They do not need to be there for the kill, but they will need to be summoned in and loot it before it despawns in 5 mins. (So camp hunters at the entrance.)

I have a question,
I heard that this leaf drops 50/50 with the Eye of Divinity or w/e it's called but from other people I've heard that it drops 20% of the time. Then from other people I've heard that it always drops. My guild will be killing Majordomo for their first time tomorrow and I would like to know if I should get my hopes up about this.

ok so we are a newish guild to these HIGH end raid bosses..

lately we have taken domo down 3 times and onyxia 6 times (3 sinews out of 6 kills, LUCKY! :D)...BUT...

i am 2nd inline for the leaf

week 1: Eye of divinity
week 2: Eye of divinity
week 3: Eye of divinity

hoping for leaf next week so then im 1st inline :O

I think that the drop rate has increased for this, i've only dome MC (full runs) twice and this dropped, the other time we go the eye. I'm not sure but i heard that it has dropped about three other times since then and it was only a couple of months ago when i got mine, still waiting for that damn sinew!I know its 25% drop rate.........but thats enough to keep me waiting!

Last night it dropped from the chest of MJD. Verry unlucky that there where enough hunters last night and they randomed me out of the raid... I was leading DKP hunter! Next time it will be mine!

Out of my 14 runs in MC so far (counting full runs) there's been: 11 Eye of Divinity, 3 Ancient Petrified Leafs. I've got the Mature Black Dragon Sinew, and I'm all set up for the demonkilling, but yet, this motherfriggin' piece of poo won't drop.

(The 3 leafs that have dropped has gone to Hunters that are Veterans in our guild)

And I've got the same loot luck with the GS Epaulets. I don't think they exist.

How do you get to MC and how do you join a raid for this? my hunter is 60 but i havent really gone all hardcore to know everything about MC

omfg i cant wait... are guild will be there soon, we started mc a few weeks ago and we are all ready farming the first 4 bosses but he is like boss 7, 8 or 9 not sure

Hey..my guild have been farming MC for like a year or so but i joined sme weeks ago and theres oe thing i wonder...tody they went MC and leaf dropped off Majordomo...and since no other hunter needed it they left it there (i was at &*!@ing practie) so heres my question... Will the chest despawn within the time limit of 24 hours? cuz in that case i dont need to worry..but if it doesnt i can stillget my guild to grind the mobs and get me to his chest :>
plz anyone answer this if you know

we have had two leaves and two eyes. so seems pretty fair so far.

I heard this starts the epic hunter quest.

supposedly you gave to solo a demon in 4 different areas to make a epic bow and epic quiver.

Also to make things more fun if another person assists you or attacks/debuffs the demon it dissapears meaning you have to start again. Included is your pet so you will have to kite/melee the demons.

this begin a quest, where u will recive epic bow and stave... u also need the back mature dragon sinew from Onyxia...

after u got those 2 things, u need to kill 4 demons... and then you'll get the bow and stave..

if u want the quiver, u need to either grind in winterspring or kill azeuergos in azshara... he got 100% drop chance on blue mature dragon sinew..

Just wondered.. that epic hunter quest.. does it start from this Leaf? And I never heard about an epic quiver.. u might mean the Epic Bow of the Ancient keepers?

omg they are so damn hard to kill and wen it gets hit by another player you get pissed off cause it resets.... >.<

I had this idea of making another hunter wo has done the Q but putting loot on ffa and seeing if the headwill still drop any know if this will work? O.O

Ok, since the patch, where does this drop? The website says that Majordomo's cache doesn't contain it. That worries me, because of three reasons:
1 - I have got my Mature Black Dragon Sinew so it's making me restless.
2 - I am anxious because one of my guild's priests got their eye last domo kill and there are about 4-5 (or more) Eye drops in the entire server.
3 - only 2 Leafs have dropped in the entire server and now n one knows where it drops. :(

hi i was wondering if u can loot this if u arent there for the kill. If ur in the raid and they kill domo and u werent there to witness the fight and pretend the leaf dropped. can u go in the isntance,get a summon and will u be able to loot it?
