Spirit is NOT useless...

I won a Druid battle (me 60 and him too) because of spirit.

He had 700 HP more and 300 more MP.

I had about 70 mana / tick regenned, he only 40.

I won because of spirit ;D

Btw: The fight lasted for a wooping 6 minutes :O

Doesn't mana regen at a lower rate when you are in combat?

The rule that spirit doesn't matter in battle is only for non caster classes. Warriors don't regen HP for example, spirit is useless to them. I always keep a spirit set handy, I wear it when i'm stamina buffing party and when i'm soloing.

I dunno about priests and healers and such, but for us mages, spirit is a waste.

Get Evocation (+1500% mana regen for 8 seconds). Conjure a Mana Jade (free and conjurable potion that restores over 1000 mana). Put talent points into Arcane Mind (+8% max mana). Throw on tons of intellect / stamina gear, keeping in mind that stamina takes a backseat to intellect.

We're casting spells 95% of fights: they key is to be able to survive long enough to actually use your mana (stamina!) and to have enough mana so that by the time it's gone, your target(s) are gone too (intellect!). When you have spells like arcane missiles that cost upwards of 500 mana, the goal ISN'T to put yourself in a position where you sacrificed maximum mana and maximum health to rely on gaining 30 more mana per tick that doesn't come into play until you're out of mana and are done casting.

To the person who said spirit was crap for mages:

Mage Armor makes spirit useful again.

To the person who said the Emperor's Seals were better than this ring:

10 person Baron runs last 1-1 1/2 hours.
BRD party (trust me, you'll have trouble finding a raid for there) lasts 2+ hours.

Seal of Rivendare is always +17 Intellect +7 Spirit, with a 10% drop.

There are 6 Seals, all ranging from less than 1% to an 11% drop. Getting one to drop, not only the one you want to drop, is very unlikely.

(To sum everything up: Spirit is useful, and Seal of Rivendare rocks)

Also, it should be noted that one point of spirit is worth around 15-16 mana every time you use Evocation. I'd call that a pretty significant matter.

spirit sucks for mages? yeah right.
in long fights, yes, survivability is a very big factor for mages. however, if you find yourself being targeted by the boss/mob, learn to control your aggro. yes, mages are supposed to nuke the $%^& out of mobs and bosses, but not to the point where aggro is stolen off the main tank.
my mage has almost a full magister set, and my spirit is a good size higher than my stamina.
go ahead and make claims that my survivability is lower than a stamina mage, but keep these points in mind:
A) of all the party members in a raid, I usually die the least, if at all
B) while all the stamina mages have to sit down after every pull, I can sometimes go 2-3 pulls before I need to evoke or drink water.
a few more points in stamina isn't going to make that big a difference if you're still only wearing cloth armor.

why would you need mana when you are not casting?
spirit = health/mana regen. the more spirit you have, the faster you gain back mana, and the less time you need to spend drinking water to get back to full, and that means your instance runs tend to go faster.

It would look better if it had some extra benefit like the emps ring thats really all, I mean you dont see rings like these till you reach your 50s period.

Evocation is only as effective as your spirit anyway. I guarantee a high spirit mage gets more out of that 1500% regen than a low spirit mage, and in fights that go for a long, long time, the high spirit mage is going to contribute a lot more to the battle than a low spirit mage.

9% my butt. And when it does drop, you're usually rolling against 3 other casters, essentially, you'll have to run at least 100 times to get it imo.

Not that hard to get. Got two of these after 6-7 runs and has dropped everytime for the last two weeks

Out of 33 Baron runs I've only seen this drop once. So either im having really bad luck, or this item is very very rare :P

I�ve been on 5 Baron.runs and this ring has dropped 4 times. It�s a nice peice for all casters.

Just did my first ever Strat Baron run & this ring dropped.

Was on amster looter & 4 of us need rolled for it.

The master looter gave it to the highest roller without checking & it was a warrior.

A WARRIOR!

He said he though it was a greed roll & not a need roll. Doesn't matter now though I guess. Time for me to go & kill some small animals.

I have a 60 druid with 395 spirit and 415 intel buffed..

I can tell you that when i drop my spirit down that i start losing mana at a much faster rate.. I have talents that regen 15% of my mana while casting as well as 3 pieces of stormrage that give me an additional 15% mana regen while casting (30% total).. With that much spirit i can go through a Rag fight doing most of the healing and finish the fight with 50% mana.. (I use Rank 4 HT for the most part)

Spirit is huge for a resto druid, Id rather have +spirit vs +stamina in PVE situations.

I got two of these on my Shammy within 3 runs in UD Strat. Great for healing duty or elemental DPSing.

I have a lvl 60 Druid on Gul´dan . In my opinion this ring in connection with the ring from Majordomos cache ( that one with 9 Stamina, 12 Int and 46 to healing spells ) is the best combo for Druida.

the only thing i cast is my fishing rod and my heals as i am a pally but i would definately roll on this ring, int and stam and spirit are the only stats im after. <plate wearing preist>

This is a very common drop, out of 30 runs it dropped atleast 10 times.

Been to this place over 100 times in my WoW career and haven't seen this drop once. Kinda sucks to be me. Although i do have Blood of the Matyr and Fordring's Seal. Would be nice to get this for the +int boost though.

I got this on my 2nd run ever doing Strat UD with my Holy Pali! Awesome ring, getting all kinds of crits on my spells now.
