There's a rock on the right near the end of the jetty you can climb on to and jump on to the jetty, avoiding a run through the inn. However.... there are 2 lvl 40 pvp guards at the entrance to each ship, and the ships are crewed with lvl 65 pvp troops

A link to spirit healers for Hordies like myself trying to do this achievement. I tried swimming it, and of course I died in the Veiled Sea. You still get fatigued when you try crossing the Great or Veiled Seas in ghost form, and can die from it.

This is one of the HARDEST places to get to if you are HORDE and trying to get the WORLD EXPLORER achievement.

I tied to get there like I did with Teldrassil. I has my very fast land mount on and took a Elixir of Water Walking. If you go between the shortest point between the main continent and Teldrassil you will get to "safe water" without dying from Fatigue.

BUT if you want to get to Azuremyst Isle and Bloodmyst Isle after. You cannot get there by swimming or even on a fast mount. You will die from the fatigue. Strangely enough you will also get fatigue in Ghost form, and will die AGAIN even though you are already dead (lol). In the end I tried this from different point along the coast of Darkshore and failed. In the end all my items' durability was at 0 and it cost me a good 30g to repair them. /grumpf

SO, I tried leaving from the Alliance docks on Darkshore. If you are Horde it can be very confusing which to take. There are three docks at the end. It's not like there is a freindly Alliance dock master saying "Hey, Tauren, my friend, if you are looking to get to Azuremst Isle, come aboard this ship! We have fish supper and burgers tonight, erm, hay, yeah that's it hay, you like hay don't you Tauren?"
Anyway, get on the Ship leaving right at the end of the platform, straight ahead. There are a couple of npc Alliance mobs (level 40s) guarding the pier, but you should have no problem with them. They appear from mid air too, so don't be surprised. The boat does have a couple level 75 guards but just step onto the middle and you will be fine, they won't aggro.

Anyway, good luck.

SUMMARY: Don't swim = DEATH, take the ship. :)

I tried to do this after 4.0.3a hit live. It would seem the only way to get there (at least as a horde) is to wait for cataclysm, and then simply fly there, since the boats no longer go from Auberdine.
The boat goes from the docks of Teldrassil, and it's not possible to fly there (seems the entire island is instanced). It is however very possible to fly from Auberdine to the docks of Teldrassil in order to hitch the ride to Azuremyst.

Since The Shattering this is not possible. There is no more a port in Auberdine. The process now is much too painful. It involves a corpse walk into the boat so you can res when it moves, then you will arrive to teldrassil, where if you die, you will show up in darkshore. It's a real pain in the patella.

As a Tauren Shaman, I did the following to get to Azuremyst Isle with no deaths, and within a 10min time frame.

1. Water Walk my way over to Rut'theran Village in Teldrassil. Via a 100% ground speed mount this was easily achievable.
2. There are 3 docks at said Village. The boat we want is the West dock. This dock is guarded by 1 Level 85 guard at the land end of the dock. There is a step about half way down the dock which you can jump on and onto the dock without attracting the guard. Simply jump on, head toward the water end and wait for the boat.
3. Jump onto the boat - there will be several Level 75 NPCs on here, but for some reason they didn't attack me. I headed to the head of the boat and sat around until I was transported over to Azuremyst Isle.
4. Once you arrive at the Isle, jump off the boat before it gets to the dock, otherwise you may have to fight your way out of the area.
5. Proceed with the exploration!

Notes: To get the Exodar explored, you just need to walk through the front ever so slightly. There are no guards so it's very simple. The hardest I've found so far is Ammen Vale - you will need to die a few times to get this one because there is only 1 entrance and it is guarded by several high level guards.

This achievement is absolutely impossible to do if you do not have heals and do not have a way to water walk. Find elixirs or a shaman or death knight friend to help you with this, as you cannot make it to Rut'theran without them.

So I am currently attempting to complete this now that Cata is out. I was able to fly from the furthest point out from Darkshore to Teldrassil. I flew around the back of the guards, since they are now 85, and ran into the pretty purple portal that hasn't changed. The portal, of course, put me right in between two 85 elite guards on the other side. I got the achievement only because I only needed the city to finish my exploration.

Fortunately, if you need the rest of the place, when you die inside of the city, it will bring you to the graveyard that is also inside. You can take the rez sickness and finish exploring. Since I didn't need to do so, I walked back to the portal, rezzed from behind the guards, and ran through, only to die on the other side of course.

Since I died outside of the city, I was taken to the Graveyard on Darkshore, where I took rez sickness and began to fly back to Teldrassil because there are ships to the other islands there. I got on the boat to Azuremyst Isle (the one on the very far left). NPC on the top "floor" did not aggro. I explored Azuremyst and now I am trying to figure out how to explore Ammen Vale and Silvemyst Isle..... without getting ganked by boss level guards around the only path I can find. For what ever reason, I cannot fly here.

Any suggestions at this point would be helpful and appreciated!

I've really only found one way to get into Ammen Vale for anyone less than level 85. It takes a LOT of patience and dedication....basically, before you make the run up the path, take off every piece of your gear that has a durability score. You ARE going to die, a lot. In fact, that's the key. There's a graveyard on azuremyst that horde goes to. It's right by azure watch, between there and ammen forde. Basically, you run up the path, die, go to the graveyard, DO NOT take the rez sickness, and keep leapfrogging your corpse up the path. Like I said, time consuming, and probably frustrating. But it's the only way I've found so far.

If your trying to explore Azuremyst Isle and Bloodmyst Isle it is definitely the hardest part of the exploration (on the Horde’s behalf) achievement. Especially since Cataclysm. It used to be that you could take the boats from Auberdine Village, but because of the Cataclysm the entire area has been destroyed. So, what I did was I bought my flying license and I flew from Auberdine Village to Rut’theran Village, south of Darkshore. I waited above ground for a while so not to alert the flight path on the island and hopefully be missed by other players so they didn’t tell their buddies to come get me. Then when the boat on the left side of the island showed up I boarded it. All the people on the boat were level 85 so the key is to board in the back corner on a flying mount and not to dismount until the last possible second. This boat will take you to Azuremyst Island. When you get to the island jump off as soon as possible because unless you are on a Celestial Steed mount (or some other flying mount that also doubles up as a land mount) you will be dismounted when you get to the island. I don’t know why, but for some reason Azuremyst and Bloodmyst Isles are NON FLYABLE.

All the coordniates above are accurate for finding the locations, I used them. The hardest part I had was Ammen Vale, which like someone said above me I just kind of had to keep leap frogging until I got passed where the gaurds would attack me. Maybe if you want to do this achievement with a buddy 2 level 85’s might be able to take them on in small dosages, or get a group of friends. Whichever. If not, then you’re going to die a lot. I would suggest putting on armor that you don’t really care about or isn’t really important to save on some repair bill.

Just having explored this as a 85 warlock, I'd suggest taking off your gear exploring Amman vale. The guards are level 90 and hit for over 100k on cloth.

The easiest way to do this achievement as HORDE now that Auberdine has been destroyed is to take the boat from Orgrimmar to STV than fly to Stormwind Harbor, then just look for the boat with the Auberdine Sentinels in front of it. I hovered above until I saw nobody and just flew right down but that's up to you. After getting to Teldrassil, you fly over to the other dock and wait for the boat to Azuremyst. Ta DA!

In 4.0.3, we gained the ability to fly in Old World.

You cannot fly in Azuremyst Isle or Bloodmyst Isle. The same can be said for Silvermoon, Ghostlands, Eversong Woods, etc... You get the idea.

Also, it was in Cata we gained the ability to fly. It was patched in Pre-Cata but no one could actually fly.

This is simply not true. I flew to Rut'theran Village from the Ruins of Auberdine and made it with the Non-Epic flyer. Level 60. This is not hard in any way simply because you can fly over everything.

If you are having trouble, simply find the closest point to Rut'theran Village from Auberdine and then make your way there. You should only have about half fatigue when you make it there.

You'll have to die 3 times to get past the guards at Ammen Vale. After you leapfrog past them on each resurrection, you're golden, it CAN be done.

I'm partially on my way to getting the World Explorer achievement with my 85 warrior. I've managed to reveal Darnassus and all of Teldrassil by flying over from Darkshore and taking about half a bar of fatigue, then I flew up to the top and just enough over the edge to reveal the city.

I hearthed back to Org cos I couldn't figure a way to get to Azuremyst. Thought better of trying to fly there! I'm going to try some of the methods above to see if I can crack this tough nut.

You can get to Azuremyst by taking the boat in Rutheran Village at 53,89. It's the pier basically towards Azuremyst.

However, you cannot fly in Azuremyst for some reason, it must be a bug or something but it doesn't allow me to.

When going through Ammen Vale, there is only one path through. If you're level 85 you can probably just ride right through the level 90 guards. They shoot for about 4.5k, which should give you enough time to just outrun them. Just don't get hit by their melee, It'll 1 shot you, as it hit my hunter for 90k. Also don't depend on Feign or Vanish. My hunter's feign was resisted.
Why is this so hard for the Horde? :/ And why can't we fly in this zone?

For the Horde (Requires Flight Master's License):

Take the boat from Stormwind Harbor to Teldrassil (The one with an Auberdine Sentinel inside). If you're high enough level the NPC's shouldn't bother you at all.

From Teldrassil take the only other boat there to Azuremyst Isle. (Again, the NPCs shouldnt bother you at all.)

And yay you're in lowbie draenei territory. :D

Just made it to Azuremyst Isle as a Level 57 Goblin Mage without having to die. Just make sure to take some Invisibility potion and some Elixir of Water Walking. Here's how I did it:

1. Flew to Zoram'gar Outpost from Org.
2. Jumped into the water, and drank the Elixir of Water Walking and drove my Goblin Turbo-Trike up north along the sea until I reached Lor'danel.
3. Then drove across the sea from Lor'danel to Teldrassil. Your Fatigue bar almost runs out, but you should be able to make it if you navigate the smallest gap between Darkshore and Teldrassil.
4. Once you arrive, carefully drive Northwest along the shore until you reach the 2nd dock that is farther north. I was able to drive up next to the middle of the dock by jumping rocks with my trike. When I reached the last rock, I swallowed the Invisibility Potion, jumped up onto the dock and ran to the boat and went to the far rear of the boat, the PORT side. Not one of the NPCs bothered me while I was there.
5. As the boat pulled into Azuremyst, I jumped off before it arrived at the dock and made it safely to the shore.

How to get to Bloodmyst Isle/Azuremyst Isle as Horde Cataclysm

Most efficiënt way for Horde to get to Azuremyst Isle (or Bloodmyst Isle) is to go to Orgrimmar.

Fly with your flying mount to Darkshore, then fly to the Alliance village LOR'DANEL.

When you arrive there fly with your mount over the sea to Teldrassil,
fly to the Rut'theran Village you will have enough fatigue for it.

Rut'theran Village has a harbor with 3 boats. Take the purple boat with Captain Galind Windsword on it.

That boat will take you to Azuremyst Isle.

From there you go go to Bloodmyst Isle on your non-flying mount.

Took me about 10 min to get there from Orgrimmar.

For Horde Players:

You can get credit for The Exodar without going into it. Just go to the northern side (68.5,30.5).

For Horde Priests:

I won't explain exactly how to do it, because I'm not sure if it's considered a bug/cheat/whatever. But I'll just say you can get into Ammen Vale on the north side of the island if you're creative. ;)

If you swim around the south of the Ammen Vale island there's a low shore where with only one or two wall jumps you can make it into the Vale without dying. The shore's just west of the N in Nestlewood Hills on the map.

Ammen vale was too easy as a paladin. Run through, bubble, outrun guards, run back through, crusader aura + aura mastery. No deaths, get the discover, win.

There are six (6) level 90 elite Amman Vale Guardians with ranged weapons concentrated along the entry path to Amman Vale. My 6200 gear score, 47k hp level 81 undead warlock on a fast mount was not able to run past them far enough to prevent dying twice on entry and and twice again on exit. I swam around the entire island and could not locate any other entrance to the vale. There is one spot about 73, 66 that looked like a possible entry point, but I was not able to jump up the mountain. Once you get past the elite Guardians the remaining mobs on the island are non-aggressive or very low level, except for another elite Guardian I saw, I think around the crash site.

So I ran around both Draenei islands first before going into Ammen Vale.
I took off my gear, simply because I'm saving up for the epic flying training so every gold counts. Buffed up, went shadowform, threw on a bubble and ran.

It took them a few tries, but they shot clean through my shield and HP in one hit. I got pretty far, and if I had my gear on, very well may have made it in one death. I made it in two, and hearthed out once I got to the other side. Since they're shortening the duration of priest bubbles, this trick probably won't work as well after patch 4.1

Actually as a goblin rogue you had to die only once as when you first die and resurrect as close to the Vale as its possible you use rocket jump, and then run except the achievement came before running away from the guards. But if you don't want to die again you run, and get back to OG by using HS.

Ammen Vale is definitely the toughest part of this achievement. There are now 6 lvl 90 guards in the valley you must go through to reach Ammen Vale. I went through on my level 80 Druid and they were doing ~5k a hit, they do have a very short disengage range though (around 20 yards) and they are stationary (i.e. they don't patrol). They can see through stealth as well unfortunately.

If you have ~70k+ hp you could just A-Team style crash through them and take the hits quite easily and survive. I've no idea why others are saying you have to die 2 or 3 times to get in and then the same to get out. If you have enough hp you can get through and survive. I had 15k hp and still made it through dying twice in and twice out.

If you're Horde like me, you can fly/swim straight out from Darkshore (make sure you find the farthest you can go without fatigue showing up and fly or maybe swim from there) you can probably make it to the little village outside Darnassus in time to not get fatigued and drown.

BONUS! If you're real sneaky (and on a flying mount) you can stow-away on a tall mast pole (for getting to azurmyst isle) or a chunky boat-front (for the ship to stormwind) without getting the attention of any shiphands.

BONUS BONUS! I discovered you can talk in the channels of the opposite faction's cities. But only a few posts every once in a while. If you already knew that...well I'm sorry for wasting your time.

I found a place where I could get out of the vale in the northwest corner, at The Sacred Grove. At the opposite end of where you enter the vale, there's a part of the mountains that is a bit lower than around the rest of the vale, just past the big stone. If you turn a bit to the left as you reach the big stone (not a 90 degree turn, closer to 45), you can climb up a bit on the mountain, and if you're careful, get slightly higher than the opening in the mountain up ahead. It's also within jumping distance with a 100% ground mount

Totally true. No need to die on the way out. Though I made up for the dying on the way in for sure 84 lock, in all my armor. 1shotted >: (and I may have actually died on the way out from falling...but no one needs to know about that.)

This place (as a horde character) was the bane of my existence for about fifteen minutes. Serveral points to make:

1. Like Ghostlands, Eversong Woods, and Bloodmyst Isle, you may not use your flying mounts (or at least I couldn't and I was a level 70 warlock with the license; I suspect I wasn't alone in this since I saw a level 85 undead exploring on a ground mount also).

2. Due to (1), you will likely die at least twice trying to get to ammen vale (I died 3 times thanks to the guards shooting bullets through my face, each doing around 100k damage).

3. When continuing on to bloodmyst, I strongly suggest looking at the map on this page so you know where you need to go rather than spending an extra hour running around like an idiot while alliance characters just stare at you (I can't understand what they were saying, but I could feel their judging).

Did it ever occur to Blizzard designers that Horde players need to get into Ammen Vale in order to get the exploration achievement? Alliance players don't have nearly as difficult a time exploring Horde starting zones, not even Ghostlands and Eversong.

This is a complete design failure on Blizzard's part.

I did it today with my lvl 85 paladin and I died 2 times. The first time was when I discovered that the Invisibility Potion doesn't work (the guards will see you). I rezzed, popped my divine shield, walked a little further and ding! Died, but got the achiev. Oh, and, yeah, I took all my gear off...

HADEST place to EXPLORE.... Had to take like 3 differnt boats, have a 85DK try to kill me in SW. Only for him to fall of the boat with me laughing my ass off.... THEN no flying on the island! ( i dont get why you cant fly in some zones... esp silvermoon, cuz its my favorite city....) Then plan on dying 3-4 times by the 90 elite guards.. Good luck!

Here's the fastest way to get there for Horde with flyer:

1. Fly to Whisperwind Grove in Felwood.
2. Fly to Lor'Danel in Darkshore and Fly along the beach along the fatigue edge and go to 39,12.
3. Fly directly to the west towards Teldrassil. I made it across the gap without my fatigue bar dropping below 60% and that was with a 280% flyer.
4. Bam!, you're there and can take the Alliance boat to Azuremyst Isle. Enjoy.

For horde getting there means going to the boat docks at the village outside of teldrassil, use the dock on the westside and sail without issue to azuremist.

I did this achievement on my main long ago, before the advent of the level 90 guards. Needless to say, doing it today on my alt was painful as hell. I managed to ride far enough in on my first attempt that I could rez as far into the Vale as possible. Took two steps, reached the spot where you get credit for exploring, died the second the achievement popped. Make this your last stop so you can take rez sickness and get the hell out of there via hearth. This HURTS.

Ammen Vale:
As a horde you should use your mount and try to keep right in the hope that after you die the first time you can rezz behind the hill - out of sight.
The guards hit me (lock) with 90.2 & 90.8k.

This achievement is so nasty for a horde atm.

For Hunters, go ahead and runs right through, and if you die, run back to your body. Go as close as you can to Amman, and res. Be ready. Use Deterrence to not take damage, and use Readiness(from the Marksmanship Talent Tree) and use Deterrence once again. You should "explore" the area followed by getting killed by the guards.

I just got this achievement as a horde player it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be I just used the addon "explorer coords" to find all the locations as quick as possible and only died twice getting to Ammen Vale

I made it out to Azuremyst and Bloodmyst as a level 29 Horde, by swimming while mounted, from Darkshore to Teldrassil, then got on a rock just right of the Azuremyst-pier at Rut'thlan, and jumped on board as the ferry sailed past.

If you are a horde hunter you can use deterrence (78) and aspect of the cheetah to run past the guards but only for a short while. after that try leap frogging with death. this is for Ammen Vale

I have sent in messages about the in-ability to fly in The Bloodmyst and the Ghostlands areas, but to no avail. I think Blizzard does not realize these areas are in fact part of Azeroth and therefore should be covered under the flight license, but as with most things you do not ever get fully what you pay for. As for Ammen Vale, I have gotten my explorer on many toons and Ammen Vale is the only I have found where you absolutely have to die to get it. Yes all the starting areas have the lvl 90 guards, however they also all have a spot where you can go to get close enough to get the explore without aggroing the guards. the only 2 you can't simply fly into is blood elf and dranei areas. the blood elf area if you stay away from the bridge and swim you can get to the island with no aggro, you can't do that for ammen vale. Since this is only a problem for Horde toons, guess that shows where we lie.

However, if Ammen Vale wasn't the last thing you needed, and you want to get out, you don't need to go through them again. I found a place where I could get out of the vale in the northwest corner, at The Sacred Grove. At the opposite end of where you enter the vale, there's a part of the mountains that is a bit lower than around the rest of the vale, just past the big stone.

Impossible in 4.3.3.

i did the corpse run into ammen vale, & i went over to the sacred grove & found the lil part of the hills but there is no way to get over it i tried

Even as an 85 warlock (horde), I found this a bit difficult to get. Everything except Ammen Vale should be pretty easy to get. I'll just lay out what I did, though:
-Fly to Felwood and using a flying mount, fly over Darkshore and over to Rut'Theran village in Teldrassil.
-The west pier has a boat that takes you to the pier at the edge of Azuremyst Isle. I used my flying mount to fly onto it and stayed on top of one of the buildings on the boat. Watch out for the patrolling guards. When you land, just take a few steps into the Exodar side entrance to the left to get that one done.
-Since you can't use flying mounts here, I went around the island on horseback, making sure to dodge any guards or NPCs. Be sure to check out every area.
-Ammen Vale is the hardest to get to. There's no other way to get to it other than through the main passage in the center, which is heavily guarded by around 5-9 level 95 guards. Here, I used Howl of Terror to get a few of the guards off my back, but the remaining ones will easily kill you. Each time you die, rez a little closer to Ammen Vale. On the 3rd try, as soon as I ressurected, I got the achievement.

Any other class should be able to follow this, too. But it might take a little more time if you don't have a Fear-like AOE.

I made it through by dieing and rezing as far as i could each time, i am not exploring,blood myst and lookin for THE HIDDEN REEF< and TEL'ATHION CAMP, ,can some one help me find them.. ?

Odesyus' Landing seems bugged as of 2024_05_06, I can NOT get credit for nearly getting curbstomped even though I've run thru this outpost a dozen times with both versions of the waypoints listed above (using TomTom).
