I found it very usefull to fish for this as I went along on my daily quests in Outland, everytime I did my bombing quest in Terokkar for the Sha'tari Skyguard I fished all highland mixed pools around the area.

To my supprise one morning I fished up Mr. Pinchy (And having heard stories of people not getting the Magical crawdad until their 4th of 5th Mr. Pinchy catch) I didn't really expect to get it... But it droped on my first wish! :D

This is probably (in my book)one of the most luck based companion pets to get hold of.

I have the magical crawdad box, I remember on the beta I looked in the achievements looking for some quirky and funny things to do, and I stumbled across the Mr Pinchy achievement, and I had not achieved it...
And needless to say this is bugging me, perhaps its not retroactive? which I find hard to believe considering they should be able to tell you've fished it by seeing the box in your inventory.
I would LOVE, if someone could clarify if this is a retroactive achievement or not.

I may have got this all wrong, but Mr Pinchy, once fished up, grants you 3 wishes. These wishes have 5 different outcomes. One of these outcomes is the Magical Crawdad box.
So even if you manage to fish up the extremely rare (0.2%) Mr Pinchy, there is still a 80% (or more according to some people who claim the pet wish to be the rarest) risk for every wish you will end up with one of the things you don't want. Top that up with the three charges having a 2-day cooldown and you may start to see how brutal this achievement really is.

So, to sum things up: you can't just fish up Mr Pinchy, you also have to be lucky enough to get the pet, which could take up to 4 days with one Mr Pinchy. At least I would not very gladly spend these 4 days fishing for a second Mr Pinchy since 1) it's very tiresome, 2) you don't know if the current Mr Pinchy will give you the pet and 3) every Mr Pinchy shares cooldown with each other.

Now like I said I'm not sure if any of the things stated by me are wrong or if they've changed how Mr Pinchy works in a recent patch -- but this achievement seems way too time-consuming and craving. Just keep in mind when you fish for Mr Pinchy, that it's not the actual catch that matters.

Yea, if you don't have this pet already, you're going to be miserable (like the sad sack who decided this was needed for the Salty tite) fishing this little bas#$%# up. Spent 2 days fishing and have 20+ stacks of crawfish. This might be the achievement that breaks my will for the title.

Can be fished from Highland Mixed Schools.

These schools can be found throughout the high areas (require flight mounts) of Terrokar Forest.

There's a 0.2% chance to get Mr Pinchy.

Mr. Pinchy has a 2 day cooldown for each of his 3 wishes that he provides.

You will only have about a 8% chance per wish to get the Magical Crawdad pet.

Mr. Pinchy is not unique.

Grinding whelps and fishing for for hours on end... extremely boring.
Turning WoW into a weird Pokemon type collecting game... somewhat disturbing.
Getting to 50 pets prior to WotLK... mildly impressive.
Mr. Pinchy randomly dropping your 50th pet while you grind said whelps... priceless.

wow i dont believe it, i spent ages pre-wrath trying to get him ( well not as long as some ppl ), then i left it for a fair while, after handing in a fishing daily, the crocolisk one ( trying to get pet ) i decided what the hell ill go fish a couple of nodes. i cast once and i got it i couldn't believe my eyes ( being 4am took a little while to sink in lol ) very first cast NO WAY. then i used the first wish and got the pet first go! i really count my self lucky as one of my friends has got mr pinchy twice only to miss out on the pet each time.

Don't know about an improved drop rate. I've had one of these drop for me pre expansion and one post. Both took about the same amount of casts, which added up to about 300 for each I would say....maybe that is just me being lucky.

But literally got the one post patch and clicked it and yet again no pet for me. Luckily there are two more charges and hopefully one of these will include the pet so I do not have to continue fishing this area further.

I too think they made this easier..It used to be a .2% chance to drop Mr. Pincy alone in the Mixed schools. After about 130~ catches, I caught mine. The very first use, I got the Crawdad Box.

I cast about 100 times before i got mine . Unfortunetly i was not expecting the "loot will bind" window and cast again out of habbit.DOHH!. Cast about the same amount the next day and finally got 1....and then another 5 minutes larter XD

I was just doing some reading on how to get this and preparing to go farm it. My friend asked what i was doing and told him i was going to go try for it after i finished reading.

He decided that's what he wanted to do too and while i was still reading on the drop rates and stuff he whispers me saying that he got it on his second cast and it gave this pet as the first wish. I am outraged.
But nonetheless...
This may be more evidence to support a higher drop chance.

hi all,i was just fishing for Mr Pinchy & i caught two of him in a space of 5min in the lake around Terokk's Rest my first wish he appeared and helped in combat for ten min ,i wonder weather ill get 5 more wishes.

As of patch 3.0.8 you can't use the Crocolisk quest trick to make fishing up Mr. Pinchy or Ol Crafty any easier.

Dunno if they made it easier to get mr pinchy but i tried to catch him for the first time yesterday and got him on my 5th catch. Got him at the lake at Skettis. Also got the pet on the first wish.

Am I doing something wrong? I've had over 1200 catches and still no pinchy. My fishing is always at least @ 560 so none get away. I'm going crazy trying to catch this thing!

Update: Finally caught him last night. took about 2000 catches total. got the pet on the first wish... thank god. So he is out there but it could take a long time to get him

Got Mr Pinchy after about 7 schools of fish... Opened it and got the box on my first "wish"... I had crokalisk in the city, dunno if that makes a difference - sure didnt for Old Crafty o.O

i have spent about 4 hours so far trying to get mr pinchy. is he found within anything special? just been fishing highland mixed til my arms go sore (i just got 450 fishing so im doing all the achieves backwards)

They really must have changed the drop rates on Mr. Pinchy. I'd tried before, off and on, with no luck. But a few nights ago, I packed up my fishing pole and went to Terokkar for old times' sake. I wasn't expecting much, based on the luck I usually have. But, after a couple hours, lo and behold I had myself a Mr Pinchy. I'd say I cleaned out every Highland Mixed Pool in the area several times, with several full stacks of furious crawdads, another of golden darter, an inscribed scrollcase, and a bunch of curious crates for my troubles.

My first Mr Pinchy wish was his gift: potions. Figuring that as long as I was at it, a spare Mr Pinchy would increase my chances overall, I went back to fishing, and lo and behold, another Mr. Pinchy dropped after an hour or so.

My second wish, today, gave me the pet and the achievement. I'll have to save the other four wishes I have stored up and see what they get me... I'll be sure to do them in crowded areas in case a giant angry crawdad attacks.

Today I got my Mr. Pinchy after fishing 6 stacks of normal crabs.

Two nice facts you might want to know:

- Even though Mr. Pinchy is soulbound to me there didn't appear a "loot will bind" window as mentioned above. So you can easily Shift-loot all the time without beeing nervous :)

- I just had 1 free slot in my inventory so after getting Mr. Pinchy there was no more space. I was so excited that I immediately clicked Mr. Pinchy... I got the message "inventory is full" and Mr. Pinchy's first wish was gone. So I went to the next postbox to send all the fish to my alt and surprisingly I got a message from Mr. Pinchy which said something like "Mr. Pinchy made you a present and you threw it away? No, you HAVE to take it! But don't think Mr. Pinchy didn't remark that. He will take revenge when you don't suppose it!" The pet was attached. So I got the achievement. =D

BTW I also think it is pretty easy to catch him now. In BC I fished a LOT of crabs without getting a Mr. Pinchy.

Fished a HIghland Mixed School in Lake Ere'Noru, above Allerian Stronghold. On my 3rd cast into the school, I got Mr. Pinchy. On my first wish, I got the pet.

That is the best luck I have had yet. Don't give up!

I started working for a Mr. Pinchy long before WOTLK, never had a single drop. After WOTLK I've been fishing every day all the nodes on my way to Skettis dailies, no luck.

Yesterday evening I started my usual routine and, to my amazement, I caught Mr. Pinchy on the school which spawns almost over Stonebreaker hold.

Having in mind how long it took me to fish one, I was quite skeptic about my chances to get a pet... luckily I was wrong, got the Crawdad box and the Achievement on the 1st try.

Considering how much time it took me to get one, either I am REALLY unlucky (could be) or all those people who got it really fast are really lucky. I don't know if the drop chance has increased, however I noticed that the "lost" catches are almost unexisting now... using the Ka'luak fishing pole with maxed fishing gave me some lost fishes before, but now I get a catch every time!

Now I can just fish for food and not for achieve.... oh wait, now there's the Turtle mount! xD

either I'm just extremely lucky, or it has something to do with fishing skill increasing the chance(450+25+75), or the droprate has be buffed.

So, the box itself is a random drop? It sounds like I have to have some kind of wish to get the box for a chance at getting the pet. Can someone explain better please? :)

EDIT: Caught it a few days ago after about five to six hours of fishing over the course of three days. Mr. Pinchy showed himself at around 350 casts. I got lucky and got the Magical Crawdad Box on first wish. The second wish was the Benevolent Mr. Pinchy Guardian; and the third wish was his 500 health buff.

First off, let me thank everyone for their observations and information.

Secondly, allow me to join the others in confirmation of the seemingly increased drop rate.

I went to Stonebreaker Hold in Terokkar Forest and caught Mr. Pinchy after less than 10 fishing attempts in the Highland Mixed School. I received the Crawdad Box on my first wish. By sheer coincidence, he was my 15th pet for the Plenty of Pets achievement as well which gave me a warm fuzzy. ;)

I don't know if skill or equipment would help at all, but I got a few junk items while I had a 382 fishing skill, the Kalu'ak fishing pole with a Truesilver line on it, and while using a Sharpened Fish Hook.

Break out your flier and get this achievement done soon!

Thnx for all the comments , but you can NEVER calculate an increase or decrease in droprates judging on the comments posted on wowhead. There's thousands of players farming this pet and the ones posting here are such a small insignificant amount, it means absolutely nothing. Not to mention its more likely players posting here when they got lucky on their catch , instead of being unlucky.

After 2000 casts i got my mr. Pinchy , 1st charge didn't gave me pet.

So for everyone who reads all these comments, thinking 'oh they upped the droprate', just don't ... ignore ... it'll take you weeks maybe or months ... or maybe a day , who knows ... if you keep your hopes up by reading how fast other players have catched it , you might get real depressed after a while. Be ready for a long grind and if you haven't grinded for it long and got it , lucky you!

This has got to be the most luck based achievement there is. I have had 12 wishes no luck. I have also just flown around the lake 5 times on my slow flying mount and can't get a school to fish in. Needless to say THIS SUCKS!

I finally got Mr Pinchy.... I have to admit that it is the persistence that pays off... I was fishing just above Stonebreaker Hold (84.2, 39.2)... with a fishing level of 555, it took approx 25 casts (today)...and fortunately for me I received the pet on the first wish... For me this is one of the average fishing achievements, like Old Crafty etc. It just take patience. I caught my first Mr. Pinchy, after7 stacks of crawdads. I didn't get the achievement after 3 wishes. I caught another Mr. Pinchy, taking about 4 stacks, and received the achievement on the 2nd wish. The crawdad pet is cool. Just take you time, and Mr. Pinchy will soon be your friend. On a side note, I have really enjoyed all the of the fishing achievements. The "Old Salty" title is one you earn.

Went out and farmed the Highland nodes for about 2hrs with 250 fishing skill and +100 fishing buff with +25 pole.
Got absolutely nothing.

Went back to Northrend to skill up and came back awhile later with 385 skill + same buffs. Caught him in 2 nodes.
Seems like unless it was pure luck, that 375 seems to be a number to shoot for as a base fishing skill before trying to catch him.

I was fishing for furious crawdads in Terrokar to level my cooking skill when I fished up Mr. Pinchy's box. I wasn't even aware there was an achievement for it at the time.

It was a nice surprise when my third wish granted me a permanent pinchy.

But yeah, I wasn't fishing in a school at all, I was just casting into the water. I had been fishing for about three hours when he popped up.

my question is, does this item gives me the pet or do i still have to keep fishing to get the pet?

this is very low, my skill is 268 + 20 + 100 = 388, i farming only four minuts and i fish him, fished from Highland Mixed School in Terokkar Forest (Blackwind Lake (near Skettis)), i fished only:

I just got this achievement two days ago. After trying unsuccessfully to do the Fires Over Skettis achiev I decided on my way back to try fishing for Mr. Pinchy. I went down to Lake Ere'Noru (above Allerian Stronghold) and was on the 3rd school that had spawned. Fished up Mr. Pinchy and got the pet on the first wish. =)

I suspect the drop rate has been increased since last patch. Got this after like 5 schools. I also suspect that the pets from the Outland fishing quests have had their drop rate increased. Have recieved 2 out of 4 pets in just a couple of quests.

Either this or I'm extremely lucky.

Like others, I got about 4 Furious Crawdad from each school, and I had 31 Furious Crawdad when Mr. Pinchy dropped and I got the pet on the first wish. Good luck!

For 6 hours on 2/13/2010 i farmed for Mr. Pinchy the horde controlled the Spirit Towers and i must have caught about 550 fish and 320 of which were furious crawdads, but then the spirit towers ran out for the horde and i capped them and 23 minutes after capping the spirit towers i caught Mr. pinchy and got the pet on the 1st wish. I think it has more to do with your fishing skill and whether or not you own the Towers thats also how 9 of my guildies got it.

I tried to catch Old Crafty, over 600+ casts and no luck, over 2200+ casts to get Giant Rat - no luck either. After that I decided to try something else and I caught Mr. Pinchy after 19 casts(!) and he gave me Magical Crawdad in first wish. I emptied only 3 Highland Fixed Schools.

I'll go back to Dalaran Underbelly now, I hope to get Giant Rat soon :(
BTW a tip!: While fishing in Dalaran Underbelly, if you type "I want my Giant Rat!" you will probably get... a Sewer Carp.

you guys are just lucky ive ben looking for mr pinchy for a while now and i mean a while well over 50 stacks of crwdad typed thing and nothing nothing at all and its not my equipment im useing nat pages fishing pool at 375 skill and a further boost of 100 giving me a grand total of 500 fishing skill still nothing.

I set out to get Mr. Pinchy tonight, and around the lake in skettis I fished 4 pools, on the 4th pool I got mr. Pinchy! and on the first wish I got the magical crawdad box. I now have a new cute crab pet! Good luck to anyone else who tries to get him!

Been fishing for Mister Pinchy for some days now - got base skill 420 and counting + kalu ak pole and 75 skill lures - nothing so far... Oh, and Terokkar towers are always on my faction's side... I dont know what kinda luck have you dude got :)

If I want to take this Achievement should I just go in Terrokar Forest (high lake)? Or I need pre-Q or anything else?

And should I just fish ONLY in SCHOOLS? (e.g Highland Fixed Schools)

Dunno about you guys, but I decided to try fishing for Mr. Pinchy today. Ended up fishing in two schools to receive him on my seventh cast. I was pretty skeptical that he would give me the pet, but I got it on my first wish.

I think blizz must have made fishing this guy up a lot easier than before. From what I read in these comments it sounded like a pain. I decided to try fishing around terrokar after completing an outland fishing daily and got this guy on my 6th cast. So to all those looking to get this achievement done I wouldn't be too put off by it, its pretty easy

okay colour me dumb. I got this after thousands of casts in outland so screw the odds. I immediately went to all the sites to see how to "speak" to mr. pinchy. I clicked on it and looked everywhere for this "make a wish" spellcast to appear but nothing. absolutely nothing happend. no gift, no make a wish, nothing. just a missing charge gone and a countdown cooldown.....so what have i done wrong. screen shot please of what I should be seeing.

I guess I'm very lucky today. I went to the pools of outland, and started fishing. I was mentaly prepared for countless hours of fishing.(It took me over 3k casts for Sea turtle -_-)

Anyway... I came to the pools, and then WTFBUTTER I got the thing on my 3'rd cast! Omg! I was chocked and begged for the pet to drop when wishing, guess what, it did!

Btw! Just 6 hours before this I got my Green Proto-drake after about 10 eggs! What the hell, my lucky day I guess.

I know you guys likely won't believe me, and honestly I don't care that you do, or don't.
I just wanted to say that it is entirely possible to both get Mr. Pinchy on your first cast, and his pet with your first wish... it just happened to me.
What will really tick you all off is, I wasn't even trying to get him, instead I was working on fishing all the pools in Outland for that achievement.

I was around 58.59

Keep hope alive, you will get him eventually!

I got this about a week ago. Took me around 2 days to get. First thing I got from it was the Magical Crawdad Second thing I got was Mr. Pinchy's Gift ,then Benevolent Mr. Pinchy

This has a 2 day cooldown.
It's only fishable from pools in Terokkar Forest.
I recommend fishing in the areas such as Skettis and the waters AROUND Allerian Stronghold. Since that is where most pools spawn. :D

Ohh, and while you're at it.. if you wanna try to get a cute pet while you're in Terokkar, you can try doing the fishing daily.
Just go north of Cenarion Thicket and you'll find a lake, get the daily from the NPC Old Man Barlo. To achieve the pet it has to be the Crocolisks in the City daily quest. If it is, take it and fish in Stormwind. Do the quest and pray one of the cute crocs drop from the bag of fishing treasures he awards you with. AND, you can also get the ability to find fish! Which can make getting Mr. Pinchy easier and faster! :p

I have just caught this in my first attempt. I went to Blackwind Lake in TF and started fishing Highland Mixed Schools, about 10th cast I got Mr Pinchy and with my first wish got my companion - thought it would take a lot longer.

Confirmed as of Patch 3.3.4 that no matter how many times you've tried, he's still out there guys. Hang in there.

Using the Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole and the Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat at all times, I leveled my fishing from 426 to 449 fishing for this sucker. Can't tell you how many complaints I've heard from the Furious Crawdad community now that I've drastically reduced their population.

Finally caught Mr. Pinchy off of the middle isle in Skettis, where Terrok is summoned. He rewarded the pet on the first try. Wish I could throw him back in and give the next person a slightly better chance. ;)

Best of luck to all you anglers still going out for this achievement. He's not a very cooperative crustacean, but it's still one step closer to being Salty.

Ill be yet another one everybody hates.. Caught Mr. Pinchy on my 5th pool this morning.. Tried 4 pools in Blackwind Lake before moving to Lake Ere'Noru?.. 1st pool 3rd cast.. I was extremely lucky getting this achievement, I got it without even going for it.

I went up to Skettis to fish for a Enormous Barbed Gill Trout, sat myself next to a Highland Mixed School and started fishing.

10 throws later, on my second school, I got Mr. Pinchy and on the very first wish I got the pet and the achievement. Probably my first experience of dumb luck in WoW, after 4 and a half years of playing the game.

However, I didn't get an Enormous Barbed Gill Trout, funny that...

These are all stories of how this was caught or absurd theories on increasing likelihood of completion. Nothing you do other than fishing pools x number of times will get you this achievement. Luck has EVERYTHING to do with this.
On that note, while fishing for this achievement I did notice one simple thing about fishing in general:
if you mouse wheel your camera view distance all the way in when you are casting you will have a MUCH smaller range of possible cast directions, therefore, limiting your wasted out-of-pool casts.

The respawn on the pools can be quite long after your initial pass. I find myself flying between the 3 locations (all in the unreachable-by-foot locations) with great frequency. Noone else is out here fishing these atm and still the respawn is quite long. Prepare for a journey and be glad if it is over quickly.

finally got this on Worglenn, Gorgonnash-US after about 5 days farming on and off.
All up I caught over 1200 furious crawdads before it dropped. I now know why they call them "furious" crawdads. lol
Not bad for a week though, got the turtle mount, sewer rat and now mr pinchy , good times

Ok, there were only like 4 people online in my guild when I got this achievement and none were fishermen, so they didn't even understand the 4 years of agony it took to get this guy! I had to share it with you guys!

Funny thing was, after a lot of marathon sessions over the years, hopping from one Highland Mixed School to another, I got Mr Pinchy after deciding to pop in on just one pool I saw while doing the Shattrath cooking daily (and I was only doing THAT daily cause I was bored!). I saw it, sat down, cast my line and stood there dumbfounded like a slack-jawed yokel looking at my loot window.

On top of that, I got the Magic Crawdad Box on the first wish. Man, I am NEVER that lucky and I usually say "yeah, right" when I see some guy say "got him on the 1st (2nd, 3rd, 4th etc) try". The cyber-deities of WoW must have taken mercy on this poor soul, this day!

Well, unlike some others here with amazing luck, I finally caught 1 Mr. Pinchy finally today !
It took me roughly 1,500 casts to get him, but I did get the pet on 1st try. (thank God, wouldn't want to catch a 2nd one)

I fished maybe two hours (didn't time it), and during this time, I got (the approximates are because I was working on other fishing achievements so I had a few more from other nodes not working towards Mr. Pinchy.):

I'm having lunch and 1 friend was playing in my char during this time, he complete the cook daily at Shattrath City and resolved fish in Terokkar to spend time, and at the 3º cast we catch Mr. Pinchy's with 330 fish skill and no lure, at the 1º charge 1 received the pet and Achiev ...

I attended to get this achieve today, after getting 12 fishing skills 389~501 then I found the box! first charge gave me gift box that contained potions, My fishing gear has 117 additional fishing, don't know if it helped but my hat has +100 fishing *Use* so I don't use lures ^_*, location was @ skitties, blackwind lake, south part of the middle isle 67,81

What I got from the fishing I did was:

2x Barbed Gil Trouts

I'm not sure if, with Cataclysm, they've improved the drop rate of some of these older achievements or whether I've just been lucky.

I went to get the Delicious Chocolate Cake recipe and got it on my 2nd round of dailies. This evening I went to have a go at getting Mr. Pinchy. Found it on my 3rd pool, and got the pet on my first wish.

Ok, Folks. I am writing to tell you all that after 2 days and I don't know how many fish or casts...I finally got Mr. Pinchy. I have come to accept that none of the fishing achievements are going to be easy for me. (dunno how some of you are so damn lucky!) I caught him like everyone said, in Blackwind Lake. i fished every pool i could find and yes, there are some long respawn times for the Highland Mixed Pools of fish. Just be patient. I have only used one charge, and got the Benevolent Mr. Pinchy, who wants to attack EVERYTHING. I hope the other charges contain the Box, because i was after the achievement, afterall. Does anyone know what happens if I do not get the Magical box in the other 2 charges? Do I have to fish him again to get more wishes?

Not to make anyone feel bad, but after reading all of your comments I decided to try to catch him... and I did.....in 1 (one) try....! I found 2 Highland Mixed Schools on Lake Ere' Noru, threw in in the first one and bang...there he was.
All the fishing before was just done in pursuit of The Limnologist and the dailies from Old Mr. Barlo, so in effect, yes, several more attempts, but non the less, first throw after reading the comments.

I was going for Outland Angler and fished a Highland Mixed School in Lake Jorune above Stonebreaker Hold and caught Mr. Pinchy in 3 casts. Don't know if that location has a higher rate than others or something, but it was probably just dumb luck.

First time fishing in Terrokar, what a place to fish, jeez. I was concerned I would have to whip mobs to death with my fishing pole. lol I did almost get trampled twice by a rager elite that was patting through. I was going to give up on the pool of Mixed Highland after he almost got me the second time. Glad I didn't the next cast brought up Pinchy's Magical Box. First wish I got the pet.

Not sure how many casts, don't care. Fished mostly in Mixed Highland pools wherever I found them. Did find one Mixed Brackish. Caught Magical Box in the lake down by Skettis with a Skettis Soulwhatever patting right next to me and one of the Skettis elementals patting right through the pool I was trying to fish.

Second day fishing. Been hitting all the pools that have spawned because I'm basically the ONLY person out here. I don't know how many items I've fished up, but I know for a fact I've fished atleast 6 stacks of Furious Crawdad's, 20 Inscribed Scrolls, one stack of Off-Hand, 8 Curious Crates, and 2 stacks of Golden Darters. No trash. Maxxed fishing, Weathered Beaten Hat, and the Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole and STILL no Mr. Pinchy. Between last night and today I've worked on The Limnologist achievement. Well, I fished thousands of casts since BC came out, and nothing, so I gave up a couple years ago and never tried during WOTLK, or at least not more than 40 or 50 casts. Then today (well into Cata), I got bored in wow with nothing else to do, so I started to fish for Pinchy again, took me about 200 casts and I finally got him.

First wish i got benevolent pinchy.

I've been fishing once each day from all Highland Fishing pools for the last 3 or 4 days. I finally caught Mr. Pinchy today and got the achievement from the 1st wish :P

My advice: don't try to get it by fishing during your entire game time. Go once a day and clear all pools. If no drop, come back next day. It's much easier to cope with this strategy.

So i decided to try out for some of the "free" pets, i didnt get anything from the Shatt fishing daily so i moved on to mr pinchy. after fishing 3 pools i couldn't find anymore and was a little down hearted, checked on http://www.elsanglin.com/catching_furious_crawdad.html for the spawn locations and after another 3 pools i got mr pinchy and then on the first wish i got the pet. very lucky indeed :-)

The drop rate for Mr. Pinchy must have changed. Several years ago on my rogue I had to fish up Mr. Pinchy twice, each time with over 500 casts, to get the pet. I headed over there on my priest a few days ago and fished up Mr. Pinchy within the first five pools. I clicked on Mr. Pinchy and got the pet first "wish." Then I went back on my warlock yesterday, and again got Mr. Pinchy within the first 5 pools of fish, and again got the pet on my first "wish."

I got him today in Terokkar Forest at Veil Ala' rak. Unlike my other fishing ventures I didn't have to try long. Caught him on third cast and got the box on first wish. However, I'm still trying to get the stinking sea turtle mount.

This is a very frustrating achievement nowadays. The fish are useless, the drops are still low. I do not know where those people get their numbers from but I've been there twice for several hours filling my bags with fish and it hasn't dropped yet.

This is an achievement to do at 70 when the fish were valuable and it wouldn't matter if you failed. You'd still get gold and/or bufs.

edit: And the spawn rate of pools is still low, at 'end game' levels.

Well its my 4th day. i did more than 600 casts. "Still" got nothing. i got 525 Skill and using Lava lure which is giving me 150 extra skill. its totally luck.

Do not give hopes to anyone. it may take 5 casts or maybe 500 casts.

After more than 650 casts, i got him. i did more than 200 today. Also i wasn't using any lure at this time.

I went to Skettis and farmed every Node in TF and i never saw Mr. Pinchy Perhaps The previous Post are No Longer True i was farming for 4 hours and the finally the nodes stopped refeshing so I had to stop.

After FOUR YEARS of fishing up Mr. Pinchy and never getting his Magical Crawdad Box, I finally got it today. So yes, it still works after 4.3, same as ever; fish in the Highland Mixed Schools in the elevated lakes of Terokkar, cross your fingers, and hope the RNG likes you.

I'm just gonna share my story about this achievement here for everyone. Maybe it will bring good luck! So yesterday, I fished up one of the required fish for the one that didn't get away achievement while at the darkmoon faire. I decided to open up my achievements page and then noticed Mr. Pinchy's Magical Crawdad Box was the only one I was missing for Salty title. So today I decided to go up to skettis and try my luck. Well, on my first cast into a pool, Mr. Pinchy drops! So I went ahead and used him, and on the first use, Magical Crawdad Box pops into my inventory! Best luck I've had with fishing yet ^_^ Good luck to anyone hoping to get this achievement, may your first cast bring you Mr. Pinchy!

Arrived today for the sole purpose of getting this achievement. Hit Blackwind Lake, first pool, cast 4 times, and I got Mr. Pinchy. Clicked for my wish, got the Magical Crawdad Box. Luckiest fishing day, ever. It took me 2 hours of continuous fishing in Howling Fjord to catch a Dark Herring for the One That Didn't Get Away Achievement, maybe the WoW gods were feeling sorry for me and gave me an easy one. I should also mention I used no lure at all and have Nat's Lucky Fishing Pole.

Approximately 55 casts and I found Mr. Pinchy. My first wish got me my Magical Crawdad pet!

Tip: If Blackwind Lake seems to be empty of Highland Mixed School's, try searching Lake Ere'noru, and Lake Jorune for more schools.

Got Mr. Pinchy after fishing in Skettis on the second pool of Highland Mixed School 2/14/2012 @3:00 PM on Echo Isles server. I tried yesterday on a few pools. Keep trying and you will get it too. Hopefully I will get the pet and Achievement. I will update if/when I do. 525 skill + Sharpened Fish Hook (100) + Nat's Lucky Fishing Pole (25)

I just caught my Mr. Pinchy in the Highland Mixed Schools pool in Terrokar Forest at Blackwind Lake (along the shore) at about 1:20 AM EST. First wish, was luckily, the Magical Crawdad pet. It took me a few days of fishing in the different Highland Mixed Schools to finally complete this achievement. Good luck everyone!

Ok so Ive noticed a trend when I have gotten Mr. Pinchy
on each of my accounts, Ive have gotten him after completing the Crocolisks in the City quest and successfully getting one of the 4 companion rewards from it. Each time I was able to complete the quest and get one of the companions, Mr. Pinchy dropped for me.

Once you complete Crocolisks in the City you will be rewarded with Bag of Fishing Treasures and inside it can contain one of the 4 companions, Chuck's Bucket ,Snarly's Bucket, Toothy's Bucket and Muckbreath's Bucket.

After that I went and tried to fish up Mr. Pinchy, and it seems each time as was able to get him.

So I don't know if it was a coincidence or luck but it might be worth a try to see if it works, seems to work pretty good for me, and I now have Mr. Pinchy on 4 of my characters after finishing the Crocolisks in the City quest with a companion reward.

Hey all :) Just wanted to confirm the locations of the Highland Mixed Schools. They seem to be mainly concentrated in the lake just above the Allerian Stronghold and in the lake in the middle of Skettis. Both locations are in Terrokar Forest for anyone that doesnt know, and are located in the south of the area, Happy hunting and goodluck :)

I can confirm that while its a long, slow pain to grind the Highland Mixed School nodes in Terokkar Forest : Blackwind Lake, it does eventually produce Mr. Pinchy. It took me 57 casts in total. Since each pool / node allows 3-4 casts before it goes away, that equals 14-19 nodes fished before it dropped. Side note: as there are only 4-5 pools active at any one time, it took me more than an hour but less than two.

Go to Terokkar Forest and fish out of the Highland Mixed Schools. It's RNG, so everyone saying what cast they got it on or how long it took them was either bad or good luck. It might be on your first cast or your 200th that you get Mr. Pinchy. That's the glory of RNG...

Lakes:
- Blackwind Lake (above Allerian Stronghold where you do Sha'tari Skyguard dailies)
- Lake Ere'Noru (right next to Allerian Stronghold)
- Lake Jorune (northern Terokkar Forest, east of Shattrath City)

Took me about 4 hours grinding these bad boys till I actually got Mr. Pinchy. Wouldn't have minded so much if I didn't have to fly around every minute or so.

After winning the Kaluak Tournament, I went to Terrokar to see if Mr. Pinchy would drop. I was fishing pools of Highland Mixed from the island in the middle of the lake. I saw a pool next to an elemental. Figuring that Blizzard would put a wrinkle in my plan, I decided to fish that pool. Voila! I caught Mr. Pinchy!

I asked for the first wish but my bag was full! LOL! At any rate, went back home and check mailbox. There was a nasty letter warning me of Mr. Pinchy's wrath because I discarded a gift. The gift was also in the mailbox; it was the Magical Box. I got my pet and both achieves! It's been two years!

Just thought I'd go for the Salty title since I won the Master Angler in STV a couple of weeks ago.

Read about Mr Pinchy and vaguely remember it from my TBC days on EU server but never got it so figured I would try it.
Flew to Highland Mixed School area just south of Allerian Stronghold.

3rd cast = Mr Pinchy!
First wish = Magical Crawldad!

Usually RNG doesn't like me very much but today it was smiling on me :)

Just got it. Popped up as a blue item Mr. Pinchy, clicked it, got achievement for the Crawdad Box, and it was the pet! So got Petting Zoo as well. 270 Furious Crawdad, 91 Golden Darter, 7 Enormous Barbed Gill Trout, 5 Huge Spotted Feltail, 5 Goldenscale Vendorfish, and a smattering of other garbage. Super excited!

So I got Mr. Pinchy way back in BC, before achievements existed, back when you had to keep companion pets in your bags, so to save bag space I deleted him. Now it doesn't show that I ever caught him. Ok, so I'll fish him up again. I have spent dozens of hours over the past year, and have thousands of Furious Crawdads and Golden Darters, among others, and have yet to fish up the box. My question is, is it possible that I have some kind of bug preventing me from fishing it up since I already have a long time ago? I want my Salty title!

Is there anybody that can confirm that this stupid thing still exists in WotLK Classic? I have my backpack (20 slots) and 4 x 16 slot bags (64 slots) for a total of 84 slots. My hearthstone is in one slot and the rest of the slots are filled with JUST CRAWDADS. Ive been throwing away all the other fish that I catch and only keeping crawdads but I have filled 83 slots with stacks of crawdads and have not caught this thing yet. At least 2000 casts. Up-side? I've almost maxxed out fishing while doing this.

After 2 hours of Fishing and flying around Terokkar i got him. First Use and didnt get Pet (sadly :D). I didnt use anything special for. Got 262 skill in Fishing and used +5 Fishing Pole.

I got lucky hunting this pet down, fished up Mr. Pinchy on my 42nd Pool cast, but my first use was Mr. Pinchy's Blessing. I decided to hit the three pools next to where I got my first one and not even 5 minutes later I fished up a 2nd Mr. Pinchy on my 55th Pool cast. Waited for cooldown and got my pet second try. They share a cooldown timer, unfortunately.
