This achievement and similar will result in the revisitation of Azerothian raids! Good for those who wish to see what it was like to raid in Azeroth - not so good for those who have painful memories of 20/40 mans that they raided to death. Still, fun.

This will require onyxia attunement.

I suppose this means anyone who turned in will get credit for this.

If that doesn't apply to being in the raid and him being defeated and as kaeb getting the killing blow doesn't give it to you either then without getting loot or having a quest completed is there anyway to compelte the achievement?

Blizzard can't retro-actively check if you have killed Neferian in your Warcraft career. So if you, like me, have killed him a bunch of times without getting a drop, you will not get this achievement.

However, nothing is keeping you from forming a raid and clearing Blackwing Lair once patch 3.0 is out. The kill will count then, for all raid members, even if you did not make the killing blow.

I've killed Nefarian quite a few times before tbc, yet I don't have the achievement for killing him. Never got his head, nor any loot off him, that's probably why :'(.

I killed Nef many many times, but never got the only piece of loot i wanted, the stupid BP...

Cant i send a GM ticket and ask for this achievement to be recognised? as this is the only instance that is greyed out and it's really annoying after all the effort i put into nef, but i assume the only way blizz can ensure that your not BSing is an item or quest from him?

How much does shadow flame hurt without an onyxia scale cloak at 70? anyone know?

my guild recently did this. before running BWL, down onyxia and and get some onyxia scales so you can make the onyxia scale cloaks that are required for a number of fights in BWL, and give them to the tanks (you'll need 2-3 tanks at lvl 70). BWL is pretty straightforward, you'll want at least a group of 15 for vaelestrez. we tried 10 manning it, but the burning adrenaline buff killed us too quickly. nefarion himself is cake compared to the rest of the instance. when the drakonids stop spawning, have everyone without a cloak hide behind the throne as nefarion is landing. after that its a pretty simple tank n spank fight. at 70, the class calls shouldnt give you much trouble.

BWL is a joke at 80; my guild ran this with 12 people, all lvl 80 except me (78), and all the bosses dropped like flies.

The mobs during the Razorgore fight are simple to solo as they hit like weenies and have only about 7k health.

Vael only got off, I think, 1 BA before he died (his buff now also affects RP for DK's, incase anyone was wondering).

Suppression rooms are still extremely annoying (particulary with no rogue in group, for obvious reasons), but the mobs/Broodlord are simple kills.

The three drakes (Firemaw, Flamegor and Ebonroc) are little more than big trash mobs.

Speaking of the trash, it's easy to kill and easy to avoid, too, but you may still want to kill the technicians for elementium.

Chromaggus' breath abilities don't pose much of a threat (we had Ignite Flesh, but he died too soon to see what the other one was), but you might still want to have people remove the brood afflictions.

Nefarian was mostly easy, but his "coming in for landing" shadowflame did pose a problem, because it scaled up (final tick hit me for 20,000 without a cloak), so what we did was we just hid in a small hole-type-thing in the back of the mob-spawning-cave, where we were able to outrange it, and he died pretty quickly, we all got our achievement, I won the head from a random roll, and everyone walked off satisfied, except for one guy who logged off prior to the fight and stayed in vent to avoid the shadowflame, only to find that he couldn't log in during the fight, so no achievement for him :P.

Oh, and yeah, cash drops from bosses are decent with a small group, too.

Blackwing Lair was merely a setback.

Nefarian's coming back for Blackwing Descent in Cataclysm.
