Seems like this achievement would require the DPS to quickly switch to and burn down any parasites that spawn before they can infest somebody, as the infection has too large of a range for the parasites to be kited. I imagine AoE stuns like Shadowfury could be helpful for this (Assuming they even work).

EDIT: The range on the infest ability used by the parasites was originally 40 yards, but was reduced to 10 in a hotfix.

Here is how my guild did it last night with myself(Frost Death Knight) kiting the adds. It was much easier on healers because they didn't have an offtank to heal as well. If someone happens to not move out fast enough, the threat provided by the DK will be so quick there's very little chance of anyone becoming infected. Rinse and repeat. I noticed that sometimes we'd get 2 waves, and other times we'd only get 1 in between chaining Magmaw and dpsing him down. Someone suggested that a frost mage might be able to kite, but I don't believe he would be able to keep aggro with everyone nuking them down. They must die before the next set of worms spawn approximately 25 seconds after the first one(I noticed my DnD cooldown of 24 seconds was up barely for each wave).

Completed the achievment tonight on our first kill of the boss, even tho we weren't really aiming for it...a frost DK trivializes this encounter pretty much (imbalanced howling blast damage). Our group was mostly ranged oriented -- 2 mages, 1 hunter, 1 ele sham, 1 frost dk, 1 shadow priest.

I'm guessing getting this achievment with more melee then ranged will be challanging!

How we did it - 25 man Magmaw - Not kiting:

Have two stack points in ranged, always move from one to the other when Pillar of Fire happens and keep them about 30 yards apart. The less people hit by Pillar of Fire, the bigger chance that the worms won't get into someone right away.

Use a Destro Warlock stun rotation, followed by a boomkin knockback. Use all aoes and slows, and single target the last few alive.

Rinse and Repeat.

Frost DKs trivialize this encounter and this achievement, Howling Blast is insanely powerful, just make sure DKs are stacking in the ranged group, if the worms aggro to them in melee then someone will certainly get infected.

Honestly we weren't expecting this achievement, but it makes life so much easier when worms aren't spreading and infected people aren't DPSing the raid group.

We completed it with 2 hunter frost traps and 2 Demo locks. The Felguards tanked them in place and brought them down to about half health and the rest of us used our normal AoE without fear of pulling. They went down so quickly that we actually had time to dps the boss in between pillars. We killed him on his 4th exposed head.

Managed to do this last night without using the popular DK kiter or pet off-tanker tactics.

Raid setup:
1 Tank - Prot Paladin
3 Healers - Holy Paladin, Resto Druid, Holy Priest
6 DPS - Two Hunters, Two Mages, One Rogue, One Warrior

Hunters both stood at 20-30 range from boss in the middle of the room while remaining DPS and healers were to the left of the giant spike next to the ledge (within melee range of boss). Tank was on opposite side of the spike, next to the ledge.

On Pillar of Fire both hunters would Disengage back to the DPS/Healer group and begin AOEing the parasites. The two mages would have begun their AOE by the time the hunters joined the rest of the group. The melee DPS were instructed not to engage the parasites at all and focus only on the boss.

The two hunter - two mage combo was more than capable of downing the parasites before they made it half way to the DPS/healer group.

Rinse, repeat.

Got this last night, my guild uses a Fire Mage with a specific build to help him kite and slow the adds a bit to do this fight while the rest of us focus the boss the entire time.

Last night he pulled off his kiting perfectly and up popped the achieve.

This achievement really wasn't made as an achievement to be aimed at earning. This achievement is moreover just a result of proper movement and planning on the raid or selected persons part. Our guild achieved this on accident, but it should be an achievement that you aim for during the fight as a normal part of the encounter. You can easily earn it by having everyone within melee range and the hunter(s) out of melee range, the hunter(s) will get the Pillar of Flame and then drop an ice trap and move. Very simple to do if everyone is paying attention, hunters help a huge amount, but are not needed.

My guild did this with me as a Balance druid and a DestroLock taking responsibility for the adds. We did it on our second night into the boss.

Communication is key. The ranged stack in one spot and run to another spot like your supposed to for this boss. The boomkin put down mushrooms around the area the ranged had stacked. When the pillar of flame comes, the first person who sees it should call it out (even though we should all see it, it still helps to have a someone telling you to move). After the worms spew out, I detonated the shrooms. This deals damage & agros them toward me AND slows them down (keeping them together, do not let them agro toward melee). The lock does his AOE flame and a stun to slow them down. I do hurricane AOE to help kill them. If they seem to be getting too close, I do Typhoon to push them back into the slow-ing shroom area and call it out to the Lock so he can keep his AOE on them.

I call it out to the group when they're down.

If there's a stray worm, I spammed moonfire or starfire on it & called it out to the toon it's agro'ed and told him/her where to run.

Rinse & repeat each time you run to new spot.

If something unexpected happens, like not having time to put shrooms down, I let the Lock know so that he can stun them sooner; probably had to push them back sooner and hit my instant cooldown AOE.

In between worm-duty, I was just hitting Magmaw to solely proc Eclipse to keep my mana up so that I could innervate a healer and not myself. You're supposed to hit cooldowns when Magmaw's head is exposed, but Boomkin cooldown is AOE and powerfully useful (Oh @#$%!) in case worms got out of control, so I saved it. My personal DPS wasn't as high because of it, but my guild got the achievement.

Rarely get to use the Shrooms (useful in Strand of the Ancients PVP, actually) and it was fun this helped make the Achievement.

A guaranteed method for getting Parasite Evening.

Assuming your group has downed Magmaw before, I will skip the discussion of other mechanics, and the healing will be MUCH simpler since there will be no worms or their subsequent effects to deal with.

That said, to do the Parasite Evening (and no worms makes Magmaw a relative breeze) use the following setup:

Have all melee in the hitbox to the left of Magmaw as you are facing him. At the top edge of that hitbox, just far enough away to allow hunter ranged attack but still grouped with melee, place 3 well-geared hunters, as of 4.1 Survival has the strongest AoE but our group was 2 SV 1 MM. They should typically be the 1, 2 and 3 on your Recount for best result. Directly in front of Magmaw, and pretty much in the middle of the room right to left (on the line where the floor would burn on one side or the other) is a Mage at his maximum range from Magmaw. The mage is the designated target for Pillar of Flame.

When DBM warns the Pillar of Flame is coming the hunters stop any shots that cost focus and fire Cobra shot to fill up focus to maximum. When Pillar of Flame hits the designated Mage location (Mage has blinked out just before hit), all 3 hunters now with full focus bars turn from Magmaw, target and and spam multishot the worms till their focus is empty. In that massive AoE barrage the worms will not make it more than 30% of the way to them, no kiting or trapping required. No drama at all, it makes what was once a tricky mechanic totally simple.

We originally did it with the SV hunters specced for Entrapment, "When your Ice Trap or Snake Trap are triggered you entrap all afflicted targets, preventing them from moving for 2 sec. (or 4 sec Rank 2)" The hunters dropped Frost traps on the Mage (Pillar) location, and this ability when the trap triggered kept the worms immobile for 4 secs. while we all blasted away. We then realized the barrage was so strong we could kill them fast enough that we did not need that trapping at all.

This actually works even with lesser geared hunters because even if all the worms are not dead when they are out of focus from the first MS barrage, they can target the individual survivor worms with Cobra shot, and down them before they reach anyone else. If you have SV hunters you could also use Entrapment for safety in this case as well.

me and my guild have done this many time, we use the same strat every time we do this boss

we have me who is tanking the boss sand on one side of magma and we have our frost DK with the talent Chilblains stand in the middle of the room where magma is, we have the rest of our dps stand on the oppsite side of where i was at(the need to be as close to the boss as possable)

doing this will alow the adds to only spon where our frost dk is standing ( if the adds spon somewhere else you have a raid member too far away from the boss)so he just has to worry about the adds and sence he hasChilblains it will be less likely that the adds will get him

we do this every time because it much easyer then not doing it, and we get the achevment everytime
