(Just a small bit of info here on this achievment)

It's quite do-able with just 1 tank, 1 healer and 2 dps. (maybe easy with 1 dps but my group had 2)

I went in a 4 man level 70 group with my guildies and within an hour we all had 3 bug mounts each just from farming the resetting mobs at the enterence.

The red is the rarest of the 4 mount drops it seems, but still the drop rate of the mounts was suprisingly high.

So basically get some competant friends and you're set!

So yeah...we did a run last night with about 30 sunwell geared people took about an hour casually...killed all bosses and pretty much all the trash possible...

We got by my estimate about 15 green 12 blue and 10 yellow and got no red mounts at all!

The red mounts are a lot rarer than the other colors. Do not expect to get any reds during a full clear. My guild got about 4-5 in our months of farming this instance at level60.

When my group took down C'thun, I didn't notice the red ones dropping until after we had killed the twins. I may be wrong, but it seems like they drop more the deeper into AQ40 you are.

At level 80, at least for a tankadin, the trash is completely soloable.

Perfectly soloable by Protection Warriors.

I got mine after roughly 5-6 hours of grinding myself and the best way of grinding it appears to be:

Kill off the patrol at the start of the instance.
And charge the pack of 4 Anubisath Sentinel's.
Kill off 3 of them, run out of the instance & run back in, the 3 you just killed will have respawned and you just continue on killing those 3 for as long as you want.

Just keep in mind that they always have random buffs which they share with their 'brothers' when they die, and when the remaining anubisath's gain a buff and they're healed for 50% of their hp, so don't bother spamming cleave/tc/sw, just focus them down one by one.

Their Abilities (ninja'd from wowwiki):

* Mending aka Renew - Healing for 4752 every 3 seconds.
* Mortal Strike - ~3200 damage to the target.
* Periodic Knock Away aka Knockback - Periodically knock enemies away, reducing their hate. Immune to taunt.
* Periodic Mana Burn - Periodically casts mana burn.
* Periodic Shadow Storm - Periodically casts Shadow Storm. Targets all players outside of melee range and up to some distance >40 yards.
* Reflect Arcane and Fire
* Reflect Shadow and Frost
* Thorns - Causes 475 to 525 Nature damage to attackers. Resistible
* Thunderclap - ~800 Nature damage, no debuff, resistible.

Basically, leave the Mortal strike- & thorn-mobs until the others are dead (Unless you get one with Mending).

Solod as Prot warrior on Tanaris Server. After Solo'ing AQ 20 I had a bug to go check out AQ Temple and first trash pull while insanely high HP was a breeze so I heroic threw at one of the 4 guards not thinking all 4 would come but i managed to live through the fight enough that the Green and Blue dropped. After eating some more +str +stam food I pulled the two pats and pulled the 4 guards in front of the boss and downed them. Red Mount dropped and with an ego the size of a watermelon I charged the boss (knowing full well it was suicidal) Got him down to 75% then his clones owned me. Going to bed a happy camper and thrilled to be able to see some of the beautiful content that falls silent in Silithus. Will make a small group to finish the temple and farm for mounts for the rest of the guild.

I decided to pop into AQ40 tonight and see if I could get this to drop. I'd already gotten blue and yellow from a previous visit, so I grabbed a friend to make it a raid, and went in solo. I tackled the first trash mob in bear form and lo and behold, it dropped. (Level 80 druid, resto spec but wearing my feral gear, which is a mix of blues and purples from quests, emblem rewards, and Naxx.)

Tedious fight, but do-able, one Eradicator at a time. (Demoralizing Roar, Feral Faerie Fire, Lacerate x5, Maul, Swipe, repeat as necessary... I lack the cool feral abilities in this spec. I also lack what it takes to survive the 4-packs.)

All I need now is green.

100% sure guide how to get it:

I got that mount. There were 30 people in the group and I rolled 100. For information you don't need to use the mount to get the archive,you just need to have it in your inventory.In two runs it dropped twice. But only one time in each. The drop is low but the lower the people the higher the chance to get it. I got all bug mounts except the black one. And I got them in 5 runs. With 20+ people and to say its not hard to get one. Just group up with guild and make it up who will get witch, so you make sure you get one. And if you pug never let the group loot on. I know it takes much to check the rolls but its worth then if you make the rule that you don't roll if you get or got already one mount and its on group loot, then they will need, its always one person. So its quite good and safe way that you make master looter in pug then there is always one that ninjaes it. If you read this carefully you wont have a problem with group to get the mount.

It still drops in 3.1, actually all four drop as I farmed each of the four, two runs (about an hours worth of killing) soloable as a prot pally.

You do still get the achievement as well by obtaining this one, the others don't.

Obsidian Eradicator & Anubisath Sentinel
Both has, according to The Armory, 1-2% chance to drop Red Qiraji Resonating Crystal. Therefore, you should in the teory have the mount after ~66.66 kills. which is around 22 resets.(if you kill all 4 on the 22th attempt)

When one dies, the rest will be healed for 46-50k Health (~42%-~45.5%)

I did 18 resets, meaning that i killed 55 Anubisath Destroyers. In this timespan, i had 3 Obsidian Eradicators respawn, meaning that i killed 4 of them, making it 59mobs.
Yellow Qiraji Resonating Crystals Acqiured: 6 - Run 1, 4, 9, and 16 & Obsidian Eradicator Respawn 2 and 3 (~10% dropchance for me)
Blue Qiraji Resonating Crystals Acquired: 3 - Run 3, 7, 13 (~5% dropchance for me)
Green Qiraji Resonating Crystals Acquired: 3 - Run 8, 13, 17 (~5% dropchance for me)
Red Qiraji Resonating Crystals Acquired: 0 (0% dropchance for me)

This is all the available buffs for the Anubisath Sentinels.
On the pull i quickly target all 4 of them, and marking them in the order i'm gonna kill (Skull > Cross > Star) - This goes quick if you have the marks bound.

They are placed in my Ret Pallies killing order.

Fire and Arcane Reflection - Reflects all Fire and Arcane spells & abilities
Shadow and Frost Reflection - Reflects all Shadow and Frost spells & abilities
Periodic Shadow Storm - Casts Shadow Storm every 9 seconds (~500 damage)
Periodic Thunderclap - Casts Thunderclap every 7 seconds
Periodic Knock Away - Casts Knock Away every 13 seconds
Thorns - Causes 475 to 525 Nature damage to attackers.
Periodic Mana Burn - Casts Mana Burn every 11 seconds
Mortal Strike - Casts Mortal Strike every 11 seconds (3000+ Damage)
Mending - Heals 4752 every 3 seconds (1584HPS)

Mending is by far the worst, as you have to do 1584 DPS, which is hard to keep up when you're using your healing 1H/Shield.
The worst combo i have yet to meet is (Mending, Mortalstrike, Manaburn, Thunderclap) - I just ran out and resat
The reflect abilities reflect weapon procs(example), trinkets(example). EVERYTHING in that school

AQ Specific Drops:

Mining:
Each time an "Anubisath Sentinel" dies, a "Small Obsidian Chunk" will spawn.
Mining it can give you:

Azerothian Emerald
Arcane Crystal <- Used for arcanite bars -> Thunderfury

Reputation:
Each mob gives 100 reputation (110 for humans) with Brood of Nozdormu
Since i killed 59 mobs, that gave me 6490 reputation.

Money:
57 Black Stone = 8g 55s
20 Runic Stone = 8g
Mining
84 Small Obsidian Shard = 21g
5 Large Obsidian Shard = 2g 50s
+Random @#$%

That's minimum 40g earned.
My repair was at 52g. That's 12g lost, not considering other drops.

Conclusion:

You farm for a hot "Feat of Strength", and it doesn't cost you anything but time.
The mount also count's towards the other mount achievements which, in the end, will reward you with a Blue Dragonhawk Mount(ally) Red Dragonhawk Mount(horde)

I myself, will continue this untill i get my Red tank!
Why? Because it's red!

I got all 4 colors in the first run. I was in a raid group with a friend's alt that was offline for raid purposes only.

All I did was kill the trash that was at the very beginning of AQ40 before the first boss. If you do not get it all the first run after killing the trash before the first boss, run out and soft reset it and run back in. Rinse and repeat till you get all 4 colors. It's very easy to do and solo.

Easy to farm and solo as a Ret Pally. Just group up with a friend so you can get into AQ40. Pull the first gryphon like pat first, then the next 4 anubus sentinels. Just use Seal of Light, Sac. shield up all times and use judgement of the wise for mana so you can offheal when Art of War proccs for a quick heal. I didnt use consecration because it uses too much mana, and you want to conserve your mana for offheals and attacks because the trash can use mana-burn on you. Use Divine Plea whenever the CD is finished, same with Avenging Wrath. Just kill trash up to the first boss. when done just run out and reset and keep farming the trash till you get the red mount or all 4 of them. Good luck!

Instead of running out, jump ontop of the smaller rock just to the left of the instance portal. The last mob will go into Evade, try to smack you a few times, then runs back and respawns his buddies. Don't jump off the rock until he's all the way back, and has stopped targetting you. I kill 3/4 mobs next to that rock, when there's one left, I jump up, wait 10, and repeats. No red yet though :)

As an 80 feral druid, it took me 5 runs of killing the first 11 mobs of the instance with soft reset. 3 Eradicators, and 8 Sentinels. I also got 4 Blue's, 6 Green's, and 3 Yellow.

The drop rate is pretty low for Red, but after a few soft resets you should grab it easily. Don't bother attempting the boss unless you have someone else with you, it's ridiculously hard and requires skill, or a paladin. Do what I did and alt-tab after 11 kills. Log out, watch YouTube videos/work on your school or something, then get back in after 30 minutes. Rinse and repeat. ^^

This seems like a silly achievement, I could understand it more if you could use it outside the instance seeing how its harder to get and I think I only know of one person with the black bug mount on my server. Maybe that will change in Cat *shrugs*

Easily soloable as a Shadow Priest (with mediocre gear) as well. I get to kill one of the Anubisath Sentinels then leave the instance so they reset. With better gear I'm sure you could kill more than one.

I popped into AQ40 with my Druid friend who was farming rep for the Brood of Nozdormu the other day. One of these dropped the first run I accompanied him on, and I won the roll for it. He mentioned offhand that it was the only color he didn't have, and I subsequently turned it over (read: forced him to take it from me), knowing that he had been running AQ off and on since vanilla (whereas I was running it for the first time). I was surprised to see the achievement pop, and he was bashfully grateful.

Solo farmed this as frost spec mage.This is how I did it:
For start kill the first 3 Obsidian Eradicators in the start of the instance (you can easily kill them without using any of your cooldowns).
After that,you will need to pop elemental and mirror images and nuke one of the Anubisath Sentinels.They stand in groups of 4.You can't solo those groups as mage.So you have to nuke one down before your images get killed and after that you run and use invisibility.Wait for mirror images/invisibility cooldowns and repeat.The one you killed will respawn and the group will continue being consisted by 4 mobs so there is no chance for you to run out of mobs.
Sometimes the Anubisath Sentinel you dps might have a buff which allows them to reflect frost and shadow spells.In that case you have to switch target immediately ,or just use invisibility and pick another target.Also patience is something you need to have :)
Took me about 1-2 hours total but finally I got that red bug dropped.Good luck.

Been farming this for a while now and I've learned a few tricks to help speed up the process. There are several ways to go about farming this. I started with the basic kill order method, which as a prot pally goes something like:

spell reflects>shadowstorm=thunderclap>thorns>knockback>mortal strike>mana burn>mending

You can pretty much follow any kill order you want in current gear, so long as you leave mana burn and mending for last. Mana burn won't be much of an issue for non-mana issues obviously, but it's quite the nuisance if you are. I actually found that it was better to just reset if you got a mob with mending, as the time it took to burn it down was not worth the effort. Following this kill order, I would kill the 4 Sentinels and the Eradicator, loot, and walk out and reset. However, with it taking only 5 minutes or so to complete this process, I started running into the "too many instances per hour" problem.

So, I started using the method described by another user to reset the mobs without leaving the instance. To do this, kill off the mobs until you have your one "undesirable" sentinel left standing, then head to the instance portal and jump on the smaller, rectangular rock to the right of the portal (as you are facing it). If you position yourself so that you are as far away from the sentinel while still on the rock, he will reset after 10 seconds or so. This way, you can reset the first pack of sentinels without having to leave this instance or use shadowmeld or some other type of aggro-dropping ability.

Interestingly, I noticed that the mob which you reset loses its buffs once it resets. As the sentinel is walking back to its original position, it has no buffs and does not gain any buffs upon being aggro'd, however if it reaches its original position, it will function normally. Thus, If you are quick enough to re-aggro the mob by jumping off the rock before it resets completely, you can add a "free" sentinel to your group. This sentinel has no buffs to pass to the other mobs when he dies, so it should be killed first. After using this method for a while, I also noticed that the "free" sentinel does not heal his allies once he dies, unlike the other sentinels.

This leads to the strategy of pulling all four sentinels and performing the rock-reset method. If you can re-aggro all the mobs before they reset, you will have a group of four sentinels without buffs, who cannot heal each other upon dying. With this strategy, you can burn through the mobs much quicker than you would be able to normally, and greatly increase your farm speed. I have also tried this reset method on all 8 sentinels that can be found before the boss, however I found it difficult to keep all 8 of the mobs on me after resetting them, but it would certainly be faster if you could perform this reliably.

I would encourage all people interested in farming the mounts to attempt some of the methods outlined here to see which works best for them. If anyone finds an even more efficient way to farm, I would love to hear it. ~200 kills with no mount is getting old.

I killed 370 of the trash mobs that can drop this yesterday and got 0 reds. Today I've stopped counting the mobs I killed and instead am totaling the mounts I've collected. Today I got 15 green, 16 yellow, and 8 blue and still no red. Starting to get really old really fast. I'm easily well around 500 kills now.

Soloing this as a frost mage.

I just had all the Qiraji Tanks in one run of AQ, they're quite easy to get if you have decent gear, and if not too many people roll on them.

It's Still a rare drop, and since you can only go into a set amount of instances per hour, it may involve some farming

Just for reference you can reset the 4 guard mobs without resetting the instance by killing 3 of them then leaving, it allows you to continually farm them without hitting the instance reset cap. I farmed this over the last two nights with a friend, night one we killed 74 of the AQ trash and on the last mob we did that night it dropped and my friend won the roll, we came back in tonight and it took 94 more kills to get it to drop a second time, at about 20 seconds per mob kill and about 20 seconds to leave and come back in it took about 1hr16minutes between last night and tonight to get us both the red mount. So not really that time consuming if you know the work around the instance reset cap.

just started farming this for my toon. First time i did it with a friend it dropped the third time ( we went in killed all mobs up to first boss for rep) then came out and reset dropped the third time. Came back the next day by myself dropped the third time (coincidence maybe) so i wanted it for my main logged on went in dropped on the third time again....logged on my other alt guess what dropped again(drops off the first mobs everytime i did it)

All right, there are 2 methods of doing this - brute force and "clever usage of game mechanics". The drop chance of the mount is estimated to be 1%, so the grind is nowhere as painful as some other grinds in WoW.

The brute force method is to run AQ40 every week from the beginning to end. On level 85 you need only 1-3 people (although, with 1 it might be risky on C'Thun). There's a fair amount of mount dropping trash, so the chances are not that bad. Personally I had a terrific run with 3 other guys where the red crystal dropped... 6 times!

Another tactic is based on the fact that when you engage Anubisath Sentinel packs, kill 3 out of 4 and evade the last (through leaving instance or otherwise), those 3 dead Sentinels will resurrect. Now the good news is that on 85 their aggro range is relatively small. The trick is to go to the SECOND pack of Sentinels near The Prophet Skeram, kill 3, mark the last one with a raid icon (skull, etc.) and then engage the FIRST pack and kill 3 of 4 there. Evade them after that. This will result in 6 kills instead of 3, so the chances will add up faster. I got the mount in a matter of an hour using this approach.
