Just do the quests given to you by an orphan matron to save a village.

What you have to do is put out all the fires on the buildings in the village you got it in, using the Buckets of water which you can get from the giant tub.

The best way of doing this is to start at one place and move in, as the fire will gradually spread. So the best place to go to is where most people are as it'll be put out quicker and won't spread so much.

Put out 5 fires...and did NOT get the achievement when I turned it in.

Then the questgiver had a blue ! over her head...but NO quest. Relogged and the blue ! was gone...nothing.

I may put a ticket in if it doesn't let me do it again :(

Ok Monopolist....any ideas on how to even get this achievment when I can't even pick the quest up again?

There is nothing available...no quests for anything.

I put out 5 fires...and was helping everyone else do the same.

But...noone could turn the quest in because we had 1 really idiotic guild on their huge mounts standing on top of the quest giver. It got so bad with so many people around....that a GM showed up and started to teleport / temp-ban some of them.

I went and did the HH in SM...came back to turn in and nothing.

HOW TO:
1. Show up to the villages on quarter hours.
2. HH will yell, then you can pick up a quest (blue !, daily) from the Matron or whoever to put out the fires
3. Help others to put out ALL FIRES. You do not have to do anything individually, e.g. hit 5 fires.
4. When all the fires are out, you get credit for the quest, can turn it in, and get the achievement.

Now seriously
Here's how putting out the fires works in Horde villages:
1. Brill - long way to run, lots of obstacles, flames on both sides of three buildings, seen "groups" of like 10 ppl failing it
2. Razor Hill - still long way to run, a bit less obstacles, dunno havent done that one much, but seems a bit easier
3. Falconwing square - are you kidding me? about 5 yards between the tub and the place where u can stand and throw buckets, only two buildings on fire (atleast ive only seen two)... easily two-manned (and I mean very, very easily), and im sure it can be one-manned... by a druid maybe...

However, I see tons of ppl in Brill and three at best in Falconwing
Yes, Brill is closer to zeppelin. But you can save a lot of time by quickly putting out the flames.
And Falconwing is really, seriously a lot easier

Alliance side:
If your having problems getting this done because you can't get a bunch of people together, head to Azure Watch and do the event there. It's nearly solo-able, and should be easy for two people to do.

Start the event, grab a bucket and wait at the side of the in for Him to start the fire, and right away put it out, and finish the Inn. Then work on the other building. I did this solo and had the second building almost complete when someone else finally came up and tossed the last bucket on the fire for me.

first off, You pick up the quest from the matron (any quest that the Matron will give you Besides the one with the HH), the Matron is at Goldshire, Kranos, Dolanor or Azure watch (or the horde little towns like Brill) then wait to the next Quarter of an hour (_:15, _:30 , _:45 or _:00) and then the Headless Horseman will put the buildings on fire.

This is where the Fun Begins! Grab a water bucket from the water barrel next to the Matron and go save those buildings.. you have 15 minutes to do this, or else the Healess horseman will say

The Fire Consumes, You've tryed, and failed! let there be no doubt , Just prevailed!

and the fires Smoke off and u have to try again..

once the fires are out (and the HH is killed) you may go speak to ms. Matron and Flash! you got The Savior of Hallows End. and when hes killed, he drops a Jack o' latern that Contains a Daily!

When the fires start he says

Prepare yoursevles, the bells have tolled, shelter your weak, your young and Your old, Each of you shall pay the final sum, Cry for mercy, the Reckoning has come!

in the middle of the fires he says

The Sky is dark. The fire Burns. You strive in vain, as fate's wheel turns.

and at the end he says (when the fires are out, if u do it):

my flames has died, yet not a spark, i shall send you myself, to the lifeless dark.

and when u kill his shade he says

So eager you are, for my blood to spill, yet to vanquish me, tis my head, you must kill!

and if your close to not doing it:

the town still burns, a cleansing Fire! Time is short, ill soon retire!

I can confirm that falconwing square's version of this quest is indeed soloable on a mage or paladin. Just completed it on 10/26/09.

Would highly recommend going to falconwing if you are having problems with this achievement as a result of no one doing it later on in the holiday.

The azure watch "Save the Village" can EASILY be duo'ed with a hunter with pack. We had a TON of time left.

I'm pretty sure this can be solo'ed as well.(##RESPBREAK##)6152##DELIM##CalaelenDT##DELIM##

I keep trying Falconwing and the horseman never comes. He came on the clock to Razor Hill but we kept failing. Anyone know anything about Falconwing not working?

He finally came, not sure what was different, except that there were more people there.

I don't know if its still soloable at azuremist.
I do know trying to get a group to do bucket brigades is like herding cats.
SO, in Goldshire, the best way to do it is to get the group to work on building, first, before working on the other.
It doesn't really matter whether or not you start with the Inn or the Blacksmith.
Everyone needs to work on one building, together.

For Horde, Eversong Woods (Falconwing Square) is def. the easiest, ive done the quests at brill, razor hill, and eversong, by far, eversong was much easier, i was not fast enough to solo, but with 2 or 3, you will have no issues, whereas other towns will prob. require several more. For parts of the Inn, you do not even have to move to refill your buckets and throw them on the fires if you stand in the exact right spot, you can be in range to target both, for the other building, tossing buckets to another player is very effective.

Also, in case you're thinking of getting a big raid together to help ease communication when finishing these quest, like most quests, it will not work if you complete the task while in a raid! (Learned the hard way, a moment of stupidity :/)

Me and a friend did this today in Azure Watch. Really easy, especially if it's on one building. But you have to be careful though, we immediately extinguished all of the flames, no more appeared and thus we failed. We had to retry, and do it gently that time, allowing the fires to spread, and only finish it when The Headless Horseman yells "The Sky is dark. The fire Burns. You strive in vain, as fate's wheel turns.". Then we succeeded, it's really easy if you know this.

This is soloable for Horde at Falconwing Square. Start off by extinguishing the building furtherst away from you (the one that does not have blue drapes hanging at the entrance). Rememer you don't need to run all the way to the building, although the higher you extinguish the fire the closer you will need to get. After the fires from that building are extinguished go back to the other building (the one with the blue drapes at the entrance) and extinguish the fires there. The building is very near to the fire water supply so you should have little problem doing this one. If the Headless Horseman says you are running out to time, just keep going and concentrate. If you have anyway of speeding up your movement, like Travel Form, Ghost Wolf, etc... I would highly recommend you use that. Also, put the bucket icon onto your main screen so you don't have to go into your bags to use it... any thing that will save you a few seconds here and there will help you.
