Essentially the Cenarion War Hippogryph of WotLK factions. Think about it: they're both mounts from a faction that doesn't give an achievement just from reaching exalted, but gives one from purchasing their exalted mounts.

Cenarion Expedition only gives that achievement on reaching exalted if you are already exalted with thier vanilla cousins Cenarion Circle.

So just hitting exalted with CE does not net you any achievement.

At exalted rep with Sons of Holdir, this mount costs 8000g

As if hitting Exalted Sons of Hodir wasn't hard enough, it then costs a further 8000 gold to even get an achievement for it ;-) Personally I felt obliged to buy one!

If I was going to drop 8,000g on a mount, I'd at least want it to be extremely cool.

This, however, is about as cookie-cutter as it gets. How many mammoth mounts were added in WotLK? Somewhere around 10? It's just not original, and in my opinion, worth nowhere near 8k. Maybe if they changed the model to make it have flames coming out of its' eyes, or large razor sharp spikes protuding from it...

I bought this today mainly for the achievement and also for another mount to count towards the 100 mount achievement, and I noticed that upon purchasing it you get the achievement. The vendor would buy the mount back for 2500g, but I decided to keep it since it put me at 96/100 mounts now and that much closer to the 100 mount achievement.

But if you're an achievement ^&*!@ and just want the 10 points, you can essentially buy this and sell it back and only drop 5500g to receive the achievement.
