You need to get 200 Brewfest Prize Tokens and turn them in to get the "Brew of the Month" Club Membership form to get these drinks mailed to you (presumably every month).

Yes you must renew each year. this is mentioned in part of the quest you do to get in the club.

The next month has come, and it turns out that each month the vendor stops selling the previous month's brew.
October's brew is Autumnal Acorn Ale, which makes a squirrel either:
a) Angrily throw an acorn at you.
b) Follow you around for a short time with a heart above its head.

I joined the club today (2nd october). So i did not have the chance to get September's Binary Brew. Does this mean I'll have to wait until NEXT YEAR to get it and finish the achievement?

That would SUCK.

EDIT: You don't understand, im saying that if u signed up in October you never hade the chance to get the Binary Brew. Does that mean we'll have to wait until next September, use 200 tokens to refresh the membership (assuming it doesn't keep going for infinity) and THEN get it

I'm confused. Do I need to hold on to 1 sample (a bottle) of each beer and collect them in my bank? Or does it tick one off as soon as I withdraw a new sample from mailbox on new month?

i was at vecation that week with brewfest are just ^&*!ed, ive done all the halloween achievements now, and i wanted to get all the seasonal achievements so that i could get the mount price, but this one seems like it will take me a whole year more, i really hope blizzard will do something about this one. Im gonna write to blizzard that they should make this diffrint, the beers not bop or something. It $%^&es me really off that i am not able to get that achievement befor a year more. agree?

I just recieved the November brew of the month brew, I checked my Achievements Tab, I already signed up for Brew of the Month in September....but what I don't get is, that it doesn't show that I sampled the September Brew and the October Brew, and the vendor doesn't sell any of those, so does that mean I have to wait till November 2009 to get this achievement or something?

If I do, then that's just boned for people who didn't know.

The spirit or intent seems to be that any of the World Event acheivement titles can be achieved within one cycle of events *after* the acheivements went live. That's the reason, in part, that the 20 mask achievement was taken out (b/c even with the Draenei and BElf masks it would most likely take more than one year) and the multiple Children's Week pet achievement is not included in the Children's Week title.

Brew of the Year cannot be completed within one cycle of events without not only foreknowldege of the achievement, but also having gone through extraordinary lengths to stall the timer on the September brew until the patch hit on October 13.

Working to complete all the World Event titles is not just an achievement, it's an *accomplishment*. I think it would be quite a disappointment to succeed in completing every single criterion for the drake over the course of a year, but then essentially sitting around for an additional year to receive the reward.

I plan to lobby Kaplan and others steadily on this one over the next ten months.

December's brew is the Lord of Frost's Private Label. It no longer just makes you see your breath, it will also freeze you solid occasionally for 30 seconds. After that buff is gone, you get a 12 second debuff that does make your breath show.

I totally agree with baldulf, i was very excited when i learned that the proto drake was a 310% speed, but was extreamly dissapointed to learn that just because i didnt want to go out and find what i needed to do for the brewfest achivment weeks before the achivments went live that i will not be able to get this achivement done untill 2010...One of blizzards most important jobs blizzard wanted to do with WOTLK was to put everyone on same ground as everyone else and this achivement seems to have #$%^ed those of use who did not go ahead and try to find out this stuff before the achivements even went live
I also plan to remind blizz of this at every turn for the next 10 months until we can get this removed

Oh come on boys and girls, can't you figure this one out. Blizz wants to you to have an active subscription forever. Why do you think they invented a 1-2 year achievement? Personally, I only play in the fall so I let my subscription lapse. I can't do that if I want the mount can I? Pretty clever of the Blizz team.

Sign in this thread to change or remove this achievement. We shouldn't have to wait an entire year after doing all the work to get the reward. It doesn't make it any harder, it just makes a delayed reward.

its likely that all the beers in the club will be avail for purchase at next years brewfest. Maybe for people who purchase the club member ship, or for tokens themselves. it doesnt say you have to be a member of the club, just drink the beers. It would be asinine to not have a way to complete it otherwise.

People should of looked up the requirements for the proto-drake and bought the ticket. I bought it, so now I only have to worry about the mount dropping. Every time a world even happens, people flood the forums demanding them to be changed in order to suit themselves. IMO, that's distasteful.

I think, this will be removed, but not at this time.
Don't stop doing your achievements and wait for the next Brewfest to start.

There will SURE be a Patch Note maybe a month before Brewfest saying:
"Brew of the Year Achievement has been removed from the Meta Achievement"

yeah the blue post was just horrible. As if removing or changing this one achievement will make getting the drake ez-mode. I think blizzard will have a lot more fussing and complaining as brewfest approaches, and really any achievement that should have been completed before wotlk actually came out needs adjusted. 2 years is a bit much for people that missed it for any reason for the first time round.

yea, that blue post was complete fail and so "form letter" like they usually do for something. Sure it takes a lot of dedication to be pulling all the holiday events off (granted i missed hallowed by the pet cause i never saw it drop in two years, but im only one holiday behind so im not too concerned).

But they totally fail to call upon the blatent fact that the event ended AFTER the achievement system was in process. Thus, the only way for someone to possibly get this, was through exploiting (tho totally fine and legit, still an exploit) the mail system to be able to get the first beer and be up to date.

They even mention Death Knights...So you put this great new class into the game...start them at 55 because you obviously want people to play them. Now they are going to sit there and say they are not dedicated enough?

You removed the mask achieve, and people were still able to get it. You remove the Perma-Peddle which is also easy to get if you get on every hour...but you are going to leave an achievement in that takes a year to get INSIDE another achievement that already takes a year to get...

They are lying they didn't take into account Death Knights, as if they took them into account for Halaa mounts, or even old reputations (it took them a patch to realise), Ogri'la, you can solo the chain but you need 4-5 people to complete it anyway. To name a few. We can't even collect warriors T6 tokens as far as I know.
They didn't take into account DK. And I don't blame them for that, it's a complex game, but don't lie...Be honest and unmercilful...

Let's count how many Violet proto drake are out there on october 2009, if there isnt as many rogues, mages etc as death Knight (lol) that means they lied...

The worst thing you know what is having every single event completed, and having to sit around 12 &*!@ing months, getting drunk with that stuff, reviving (uselessly ALL EVEN a second time), to finnaly get a proto drake that we wont even use! because there will be the next extension! it will probably even be out before we get the hands on it, if they take on word the "one extension per year"

So how stupid is that? there probably gonna even be 3 personn mounts....

I purchased a Brew of the Month club membership but drank my Binary Brew a bit early and did not get credit for it. So I asked a GM about it through a written petition, and here was the response I received (along with my original question):

Petition: I did not get the achievement for Binary Brew despite having a Brew of the Month Club membership. Can I be provided with another Binary Brew?

Answer: This brew will be available once more during the month of September. Please note that the Game Master Department will be unable to provide any Brews missed during the course of the year. Players will need to wait until the appropriate month arrives in order to regain them.

Hopefully this means that those of us who bought a subscription will not have to buy another membership just to drink the Binary Brew to get credit for the achievement, though I don't think it's entirely clear whether the brew "will be available once more during the month of September" because you have to buy another membership or whether you will be able to purchase the brew directly from a vendor if you already have a membership.

We're still comfortable with the length of time it takes to achieve the Violet Proto-Drake with Brew of the Year included -- and, yes, we're taking into account Death Knights, new characters, and people who missed last Brewfest or did not join the club. You'll be able to complete the meta achievement in time if you choose to concentrate on those achievements.

There is a perception out there that the Violet Proto-Drake is the drake for "casual" players, but that isn't strictly true, in all honesty (and can devolve into a debate on what the definition of casual happens to be, which is subjective and not something I wish to get into.) It's the reward for participating in a great deal of the holiday content, and Brew of the Year factors into that content as it is achievable through participating a single instance of the Brewfest holiday and following through for one year. This is in contrast to Veteran Nanny, which required you to participate in Children's Week thrice, and achievements like A Mask For All Occasions, where the probability involved was too low to be reasonably included in the meta achievement. The Brew of the Month club is easily acquired during Brewfest, there's no game of chance involved, and it doesn't require revisiting the holiday provided you check your mail every month.

I agree with the others, any achievement that cannot be completed during that event, such as this, should not be required for the Meta achievement. It's one thing if it can be done during the week, but if it's impossible to do it during that event week, it's rather unfair towards new classes and players. It will be sad if they leave this as part of the required Meta achievement.

The character I'm now using was only level 62 during brewfest. the trick is getting the membership before you buy the other stuff. That way you have all year to drink and you can get all the other achievements you missed or couldn't afford the next go round (instead of getting the other stuff waiting a year and drinking it monthly).. it cuts back a year of waiting. really not that difficult. I'll get my drake in October. And I for one.. don't really want them to remove this from the requirements because it shows that I worked for it instead of having it handed to me.

This is just ridiculous to have has a requirement for the meta-achievement. I just managed to get enough tokens for the membership on Oct. 1st, so I missed out on the Sept. brew. Not only that, but for some odd reason the Oct. brew i drank didn't count either, so the latest I can get this achievement is October coming up. Honestly, Bliz should remove this from the meta-achievement or at least change it around a bit. I don't have any idea about how insanely hard it is going to be to get enough tokens for all of the clothes AND renewing the membership.

I was playing for the horde side, got to lvl 40, and discovered that some friends of mine were playing the alliance side, so switched over in September. Seeing as how i was busy leveling my character, I didn't have any idea about brew of the month club and all that stuff. I have worked super hard to get all the achievements I was high enough lvl for, and was thinking I was going to get my drake in december next year. I missed 3 achievements for the halloween one, (and went through great lengths to get the coaches at lvl 26 I might add) and one achievement for winter veil.
Can you imagine my disspointment when I found out I would have to wait a whole other year to get my drake because I wasn't high enough lvl to be worrying about brew of the year? What a way to encourage new players..

Alright, many people are not satisfied with the fact that you can't get his achievement after the achievement system was launched and that it's a requirement for the violet proto-drake. That can always be discussed, but this was said in a comment at the top of the first page, complaining in a new comment here will not help you. You need to contact Blizzard instead, wowhead has nothing to do with this.

I'm betting that this achievement will be removed from the brewmaster meta-achievement, but not until brewfest '09 or shortly thereafter. Currently only a fraction of the player population is aware of the situation. Not all of us go to websites such as wowhead, and even a good portion of those that do may not be looking as far ahead as brewfest '09. But when brewfest '09 finally does roll around and ALL the players who have been diligently working for "What a Long Strange Trip it's Been" come to discover that it was all for nothing if they didn't sign up for the brew of the month club last year before the achievement system went live... well I imagine Blizzard will receive complaints in volumes they have never seen before.

The thing is, many people DID know, and there was a lot of talk on trade and various forums about getting Brew of the Month. The PTR had been up before Brewfest, and the achievements were known. The post from Blizzard that Aparicion quoted says it all: these achievements as a whole take time and dedication - and part of that dedication involves research.

Me, I got Brew of the Month on my druid, but missed it by one day on my paladin, because I failed to notice that the holiday ended at 6am of its last day - I was counting on that last day's daily to kick me up to 200 tokens, and woke up after it was all over with. I'm angry, but I only have myself to blame. Likewise, you can't blame Blizzard for not knowing about this achievement, when it only shows that you did not do the research.

last i knew the mask for all occasions was taken out because it was impossible or at least extremely improbable (like the bag of candies achievement)
but of course it does not really matter anymore because they are "fixing" the BotM club achievement and the bag of candies... now we have noblegarden achievements though =(

There is something wrong with this achievement.. I got the membership last year and they havent sent me each beer each month so i have missing months and I will have to do it again this upcoming year. Make sure that you notice if that happens to you, else you will be stuck in my position :( you can also buy the beer once a member by the portal place in org. So i recommend you do that if the brewfest doesnt send you one.

It is possible to get brew of the month and all the clothing in a single year. You have to be good at beer running, but it is possible. I've done it.

The reason people aren't getting credit for Binary Brew is because it is the September brew, and achievements weren't put in place until mid October.

Unless Blizz fixes it to give credit for the people that joined last year, you will have to spend another 200 tokens and join the Brew of the Month again this year (assuming it only lasts one year, and is not a liftime membership).

The Brew of the Month membership will last until this coming September, so everyone who signed up last year will get Binary Brew this year without having to redo their membership. This is according to Kisirani:

This particular club technically lasts from October 2008 - September 2009 no matter when you begin the quest, though if you bought it earlier you had access to the vendor and thus Binary Brew.

I'm SO mad. I worked all the year to get my What a long, strange trip it's been. I need the Brewfest event and the Halloween's Pet then I have the Violet-Proto.. I'm always preparing few days or weeks before an event. Thats why I just saw that Achievements; ''Brewfest of the Year''... I am so disappointed.. I have to wait an other year? Wow I just wanna leave WoW right now xD I hope so much that blizz will change that achievement.. I'm so frustrated.. Only if I knew about buying a beer each month =( Even that, I'm not in the brewfest club... Its worst.

Oddly enough, I had gotten credit for Binary Brew, but not the Acorn Ale. Had the squirrels and all, but never got credit for it. I know it isn't required for the meta, but I still want the achievement. Which means that now I have to renew my BotM just to get the Acorn Ale ... that is a lot of tickets :(

Spoke a GM about this problem. He confirmed that the only option is the get another membership, although it's a known issue. Kinda unfair i think, but i want the achievement. Still have time till the 5th of October, but I have to pass on the Pint-sized elekk now...

My rogue joined the year it came out, and dosent carry on after the next years brewfest therefore if you want to carry on getting them you have to rejoin.

As sad as it seems I did have some trouble with this achievement. I originally purchased my Brew of the Month Membership on October 29th, 2009. Since I got the membership at the end of the month, the 2009 October Brew did not get mailed to me. However, because the membership stated 12 months I figured I would just have to wait the full 12 months and I would automatically get my 12th Brew in October of 2010... This never happened and I didn't get my last brew in October of 2010.

I recently decided to go to the Brew of the Month vendor to see if I could pick it up there (thinking maybe I had accidentally deleted the October 2010 brew); but I when I got to Ironforge the vendor said I was no longer a member >_<.

I spoke with a GM about the matter and I was told:

1. The member ship is only for 1 year only. If you want it again you need to redo the quest every year.
2. The Membership does not last a full 365 days (12 full months) but rather the memberships considered retroactive to the beginning of the 1st month that you got the Membership. Meaning regardless of when you activate the membership in October, the membership will always expire on September 30th. (and that is why I did not receive my missing 2009 brew in 2010)
3. Because the monthly brews are only mailed at the beginning of the month AND the membership expires before the same month comes around twice, players ALWAYS need to purchase their FIRST brew from the vendor in Ironforge or they won't get the achievement.

Also. The Brew of the Month Vendor in Ironforge only sells that months specific monthly brew. ie June brew in June only. Once the month passes you cannot get it any more. So make sure to drink you're brews right away when they come in the mail and make sure to visit the vendor if they expire. Other wise you're stuck like me waiting another whole year.

Mails with the monthly Brews as attachments no longer get deleted if your subscription has expired as of MoP.
I let by subscription expire in 5.0.5 and when I came back in 5.2 a couple months later, I had all the unclaimed brew mails in my mailbox.

Anyone know if they mail the new drinks? The forgetful kind I am I know I won't remember to buy a new one every month. I know this isn't for the meta achievement but the perfectionist I am, I want the achievement nonetheless.

At some point I think they've changed this where once you join, you stay in the club. At least for me, this happened on 4/27/2011 (4.1?) because I got flooded with a brew I missed and I seem to keep getting the BotM on all my alts. Even if I did renew, the brew I missed was a summer brew (either June or July) and I got it in April. The problem is that I have no proof of that.

Note the achievement is completed on 4/27/11 and I didn't renew my Brewfest membership. I originally got it 9/26/09.

My alts got their brews again on 10/1, regardless of quest completion time.
