Any priest who uses this gem does not understand how the priest class works. The +9 heal / +2 mp5 gems were good because they can't have 1.5 mp5 on an item so Blizzard rounded up and made it 2, making it halfway between rare and epic quality. The same is not true for the +11 heal / +2 mp5 gems. Either use +10 spirit (+4 mp5 does not compare to +10 spirit) or +22 healing.

Even under the most ideal circumstances for Spirit (human racial, significant time outside of FSR), 10 spirit will at best equal 4mp5.

This gem splits the red and blue equivalents directly down the middle. There is no reason not to use two of these instead of 1 red and 1 blue.

Its not that the rounding gives less for the upgrade from rare>epic, you get exactly the same stats from a 22+heal and a 4mp5 as you do two of these.

Its more that as you gear up with T6 you have mana regen coming out of your ears, especially after the 2.3 Meditation changes. Personally I'm looking to drop gobs of mp5 off my gear and I would prefer raw +heal or Spirit gems.

2 mp5 > 11 healing. Unless you think 22 healing is > 11 healing and 2 mp5? So why would you get this gem (since the other new one is 22 healing)

If you think about it, the 4 mp5 gem is the epic that gets the most benefit from going blue -> purple. 1 mp5 > 4 healing > 2 healing. Personally If I ever get these gems, barring meta requirements, I'll be using all 4 mp5 gems.

and one of each of the gems you posted...? exact same.. ;S

I think the reason for the controversy on this gem is due to the rare version Royal Nightseye is overbudget (https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/item=24057). Due to rounding or something the Royal Nightseye ends up also getting 2mp5 even though for it's budget it should have less. On the bright side if you as a healer do choose this gem it frees up the red epic gems you are getting for the mages/locks/shadowpriests/hunters who will benefit the raid more using them.

My two cents anyway.
