Went there without a single Cleft in sight, but loads of elementals. Killed some elementals and the clefties started to come back.

Noticed the same thing today. Ran 30 minutes without seeing 1 single Aged Clefthoof; started to kill the Living Cyclones and they came back.

I fully agree with everyone, if you cant find any just grind on the Living Cyclones for awhile and you'll get some to pop sooner or later.

For kicks and giggles, these things are big enough that you could hide from the opposing faction in the body of one after killing it, if you're on a PvP server. Or wait for some poor sap of a skinner from the opposite faction to come along, and "Boo!"

IMO i think these beast have the highest % of droping Clefthoof leather dont bother with the clefthoof bulls.

Well, I guess im just lucky, got one of these on the first kill, but yeah, they share respawns with the cyclones so kill them if you have trouble finding the clefthoof.

100% certain they share a spawn with Living Cyclones. I also had very bad luck with the drop chance of the quest item blubber but I can confirm it DOES drop from them.

Also: There are a few dead Aged Clefthoofs north of the circular area, on the west side of the map. They are circled by Greater Windrocs that fly around like buzzards. Completely ignore these. Even if you kill the birds and wait for the Clefhoof to spawn, it spawns as a corpse so you still can't get anything from it. This area is also marked as a quest area in-game but it is referring to the Windrocs, not the Clefthoof.

Living Cyclones are also a PH for Aged Clefthoofs, so if you see a bunch of those, kill em to get out of the way for Clefthoofs to spawn.

Got it on 5th kill....
the map for these spawns is accurate.
And killing the Air Elementals does give a chance for Aged clefthoof to spawn there.

In short the entire West side of Nagrand can spawn these...

The spawn rate of these isnt that bad.. there are usually about 10 up unless someone is killing them. However, the drop rate of the Blubber is a nightmare.

The Living Cyclones do indeed share a common spawn with the Aged Clefthoofs. (Check out the map for where the two appear -- they trace out an identical pattern.)

So, killing Living Cyclones should cause more Aged Clefthoofs to spawn in their place.

Since locating these Clefthoofs down is half the hunt,

I recommend you program a /target macro so you can constant click on the said macro while you run around.

Done it with 3 different characters, the item have dropped from the first mob every time.

IF you have killed ~20 mobs you should turn off your addOns and try again, since some addOns is making some quest items unable to drop

Unless you suffer from OCD.. Skip any quest involving this mob.

i spent 2 hours riding up and down the western coast killing these. I haven't yet seen the blubber drop.

The mobs are always in the same spots. By the time you ride all the way north and all the way back south, each will have respawned. Just keep tracking back and forth. it really sucks.

Killed these for two hours before it dropped. The hilarious part is that the other two reagents drop on the first or second kill, almost guaranteed.

Made our leatherworker really happy, though.

Just did the "Vision of the Dead" Quest for the 6th time,
All the previous 5 times, I got the blubber within the first 5 kills no problem.
On the last time, I killed 2 Aged Clefthoofs, and then no more were spawning, so I took someone's advice, and killed all the Air elementals, Finally like 5 Clefthoofs spawn, and I still didn't get it.

Just FYI
The Aged Clefthoofs spawn all along the south of Oshu'gun, and to the southeast, that's where I got mine after about 7 kills.
I went behind Telaar like someone else suggested, but only found some Clefthoof bulls.

All in all I wouldn't skip this quest though, You might get the blubber quite easily, or you might not, but it does unlock the repair guy outside Auchenai Crypts in Auchidoun later in the chain, so I would do the quest, just for that.

How do add-ons effect drop rate? If they do, then your add-on is in violation of the EULA. Add-ons are cosmetic, and do not effect drop rate.
