How Each Race Changes in Burning Crusade Classic

When stepping through the Dark Portal, many races in Azeroth will experience some changes to their racial bonuses. Weapon Skill turns into Expertise, some PvP related abilities are nerfed or buffed, and some racial abilities benefit from a other changes, whether it be talents for a certain class or changes to how certain attributes effect the class. Here is a look at how the abilities for each WoW race have changed between Classic and Burning Crusade.
Humain
Diplomatie
: Reputation gains increased by 10%.
Perception
: Dramatically increases stealth detection for 20 sec.
Spécialisation Masse
: Expertise with Maces and Two-Handed Maces increased by 5.

Spécialisation Epée
: Expertise with Swords and Two-Handed Swords increased by 5.
(Was Weapon Skill in Classic)

: Spirit increased by 10%.
(Was 5% in Classic)
For Humans, not a whole lot changes. The Weapon Skill Racial bonuses are changed to Weapon Expertise, as the combat skill system is completely overhauled in Burning Crusade. To read more about the Combat system change, check out the

Dwarves see very little change moving into Burning Crusade Classic. To put the Dwarf change into context, 1% Critical strike chance at level 70 would require 40 Agility to obtain. Since Expertise has no effect on ranged attacks, it wouldn't really make sense if the Gun Specialization changed to Gun Expertise. One other important thing to note, because a Rogue's
Cécité
is no longer considered a Poison effect, Stoneform does not break the user out of Blind, which is an indirect nerf to Stoneform.

: Activate to slip into the shadows, reducing the chance for enemies to detect your presence. Lasts until cancelled or upon moving. Night Elf Rogues and Druids with Shadowmeld are more difficult to detect while stealthed or prowling.
Talk about #NoChanges, Night Elves don't see a single change through the Dark Portal! While they don't change much, Night Elf healers are extremely valuable in Arena, as they can quickly run away from combat, sit down and drink, and then Shadowmeld while drinking. If the enemy team didn't see where the healer Shadowmelded, they can get many more ticks of drinking off, which has a huge impact in high rated arenas.

Gnomes don't see any changes, other than a kiss/curse change to Escape Artist. Blizzard decided to remove the 0.5 second cast time on the ability, but increases the cooldown by 45 seconds. This has a pretty big impact on Player versus Player activities, as Gnome

Draenei is an entirely new race in Burning Crusade and didn't exist in Classic World of Warcraft. The main thing the Draenei race brings to the Alliance is the

class. Alliance players will benefit from Shaman totems and of course the insanely powerful Burning Crusade Shaman spell,

. As for Racial abilities, the extra spell hit chance has incredible valuable in PvE, as it stacks with other benefits such as the Elemental

Orcs are one of the most improved races overall going through the Dark Portal. In Classic, one of the most frustrating parts of Player versus Player, is how powerful Hardiness is as a Racial. Working against things like Tidal Charm, Grenades, Mortars, and actual stun abilities, a flat 25% chance to resist was just game breaking. If your class can play Orc, it is almost always the right choice for PvP in Classic. Moving into Burning Crusade, this is nerfed somewhat, reducing the resist chance to 15% instead of 25% and everyone is happier (other than Orcs). Weapon Skill Rating changes to Expertise, as expected. And lastly, new Blood Furies are added for the spellcaster classes. Rogues, Warriors, and Hunters keep the old Blood Fury, Warlocks get a Spell damage/healing version, and Shamans get it all, attack power, healing, and spell damage in one.

: When activated, regenerates 7% of total health every 2 sec for 10 sec. Only works on Humanoid or Undead corpses within 5 yds. Any movement, action, or damage taken while Cannibalizing will cancel the effect.

Undead players join the Night Elves in being a race with zero changes going through the Dark Portal! Because Arena doesn't allow consumables, Restorative Potion is banned, meaning it can be very hard for some classes to break out of fear effects. Because Priest and Warlocks are in such high demand in Arena in Burning Crusade, Undead actually get a buff, as their Will of the Forsaken is a powerful PvP racial ability.

: Total Health increased by 5%.

: Stuns up to 5 enemies within 8 yds for 2 sec.
A Tauren, an Undead, and a Night Elf walk into a bar in the Burning Crusade... All three ask the bartender for #NoChanges. While not necessarily a racial bonus, it is important to note the extended melee range for Taurens,
as mentioned in the Melee Leeway news post
. This has significant impact on Arena for Tauren Warriors and Tauren healers, as they can be hit by melee attacks from a further distance than others.

: Increases your casting and attack speed by 10% to 30%. At full health, the speed increase is 10% with a greater effect up to 30% if you are badly hurt when you activate Berserking. Lasts 10 sec.

While Trolls don't see much of a change from their particular Racial abilities, other than the ranged weapon Skills being converted into Critical Strike chance, the way Haste Rating works in Burning Crusade does change quite a bit. For Rogues, there is a valuable talent for PvE in the Combat tree called

, which has a chance to give energy from off-hand attacks. This means a higher haste rating generates more auto-attacks, which gives more opportunity for energy to be generated. In Patch 2.4.0, Blizzard changed Spell Haste Rating to also impact how short the global cooldown is on Spells. This makes Berserking absolutely insane for PvE, giving

Blood Elf is an entirely new race in Burning Crusade and didn't exist in Classic World of Warcraft. Blood Elves bring the
Paladin
to the Horde, giving the Faction their first taste of

in Raids. While these racial abilities have a very minor impact in Player versus Environment, they certainly shake up the Arena scene quite a bit! One of the most surprising things players learn about Arcane Torrent is how massive the range is on the effect. Being able to silence such a large radius can be game changing, especially when you consider the fact that Arcane Torrent can also knock players out of stealth.
