Next week should have the
Détonant
affix in Mythic+ on live servers and the Shadowlands Pre-Patch has brought some changes to the Bursting Affix. Bursting is now a Magic debuff dealing a flat amount of damage, but there seems to be an undocumented mechanic preventing
Détonant
damage from scaling with Key Level beyond Mythic +15.
Bursting Affix Changes in the Shadowlands Pre-Patch
Bursting received some important changes in the Shadowlands Pre-Patch, as noted in the 9.0.1 Patch Notes.
Blizzard
Bursting
Bursting is now a dispellable Magic debuff.
Bursting deals a flat amount of damage instead of a percentage based off of max HP.
However, from our tests, what wasn't mentioned in the Patch Notes is that the
Jaillissement
debuff stops scaling its damage past the Mythic +15 difficulty. This means that if you do a Mythic +15, a Mythic +20 or a Mythic +25, the amount of damage
Jaillissement
does per stack does appear to be the same.
Bursting Scaling in the Shadowlands Pre-Patch
Here is a table containing the damage amount of a single stack of Bursting in the Shadowlands Pre-Patch.

Conclusion and Thoughts
Bursting caps out at 632 damage at a Mythic +15, so if you take a fully geared character in the Shadowlands Pre-Patch with ~23,000 health. This damage works out to be about ~2.75% health per stack, a nerf from the 3.5% per stack from BFA Season 4! If a geared character decides to help a friend and do a lower level key, the % of damage done by
Jaillissement
will decrease further. Just by tuning alone, Bursting will be dealing less damage per stack than BFA Season 4 at all levels because it's capped at Mythic +15. Blizzard probably decided to cap it at this level or else Bursting damage could possibly scale out of control at certain key levels or in future Shadowlands seasons. It's good planning ahead by Blizzard in my opinion.
But that's not all, as
Jaillissement
is now a Magic debuff and can be dispelled! Every healer can at least dispel one Bursting stack from a player, but there are certain specs and classes than can help out with Bursting a little more now!
All Priests:
Dissipation de masse
to dispel Bursting on all clumped players.
Mistweaver Monk:
Regain
to dispel Bursting on all players.
All Warlocks (Imp):
Brûle-magie
to dispel Bursting from a player.
Of course, immunities will still work such as
Cape d'ombre
and
Bloc de glace
. But overall, this allows many more classes to counter Bursting while have a minimum of 1 dispel per group from the healer.
Together, these changes should reduce the impact of Bursting, while also helping some healers which had trouble with
Détonant
, especially out of combat. Priest specs may become a higher priority to look for on
Détonant
weeks due to their ability to complete negate all
Jaillissement
debuffs once every 45 seconds.
