this may just be chance but I haven't found any of these from pickpocketing after i hit lockpicking 360, odd coincidence perhaps? (this is after pickpocketing like 40 times)

odd coincidence indeed, just found one. also theres been some rumors of the trolls that stream out of Drak'Tharon are pickpocket-able but that is a false rumor, they have no pockets to pick :(

Another bonus to farming at the Avalanche, is that you don't have to walk back to your body. If you die you will instantly respawn at a nearby graveyard, which is the time I used to sit down and open all the junkboxes. Graveyard coords: 57.8, 34.8 (a very short flight away)

I spent about an hour last night at the Avalanche, I made 100g, found about 30 Runic Healing Potion, and a Spare Hand.
If anyone wants to take farming this place seriously,
I suggest picking up the following two glyphs:

Just turn on auto loot, you never have to stop moving, and this place becomes a breeze.

Another place to consider farming is in Zul'Drak. The Gundrak Savage and Drakkari Snake Handler have above an 80% chance of dropping the junkbox.

While not running heroics or doing dailies, I will definitely be farming these for the 2 epic weapons that drop:

I would just like to add that with the glyph for pickpocketing and a macro i modified you never have to change targets. Just keep spamming the macro and face the thing you want to pickpocket.
It works try it ;)

like my fellow rogues said above, Avalanche is the best spot to farm.

If you do plan on farming seriously get the glyph of Pick Pocket, Seriously it helps ALOT and will reduce the chances of being discovered.

Believe it or not I am finding it easier to pickpocket the Avalanche without Master of Deception rank 3. The mobs would always run right over me and aggro when I had the talent. Without it they, conveniently, stop when they get close and that also gives me a couple seconds to loot multiple mobs. The patrols however are higher level and need to be handled with care.

they still dropping epics after the recent patch? i have went 6hrs straight without even a green....gold is awesome as well as the healin pots, but i dont wanna waste my time if they fixed it....sent in a ticket and reply i got back was they cant give hints.....big help GMs are.

in the last few weeks i have found the dagger(sold in ah 2800) and the krol cleaver which i am using =) all found in shalozar on the alvalanche area

Remember, all epics are RNG so your chances of getting it are always pretty much zero, so don't give up if you don't get it on the first day! (Or week ~_^). Another good path I found is to fly to the top of the mountain, and zig zag your way down, getting all the mobs.

Once at the bottom, you should have quite a couple lockboxes. I normally end up with at least 20. Open them up, then fly back up to the top and repeat the process :D

If you have anything that gives you +Stealth, such as a Shadowsong Panther if you're a JC, throw that on as well, since it lets you weave through tight clusters of mobs without trouble, unless you walk right on top of one.

Another thing worthy of mention, is every now and then a group of Scourge will run down the mountain in a pack. Now, instead of avoiding them, distract the whole group and pickpocket as fast as you can, this works especially well with the macro listed earlier on in the comments.

Magmoth at Borean Tundra seems like a good place to farm boxes. Its humanoids include both the kobolds and the magnataurs. In the cave, there are some neatly packed groups as you're going down, as well as in its bottom.

The location is just north of Fizzcrank Airstrip.

edit: Might be better if you're not high level enough to go to the Avalanche.

Before 3.2, I would hit the Avalanche in BT and Conflag in IC, spend very little time there and pickpocket a bagfull of junkboxes. I have been to both places recently and they drop rate has dropped dramatically. I think they nerfed the junkboxes. Can anyone confirm?

I have a much better solution:
Get the daily Power of the Great Ones (may vary, but once you get it don't deliver)
And basically you just farm Frenzyhearts without any downtime!
The best spot is the "Fightclub" like circle just north of the most SW Frenzyheart camp.
Theres about 15-20 mobs gathered in a circle you can FoK-spam to death after picking.
After looting all corpses they respawn in about 10 secs ^^

Got a few the other night from skinning the skellies while I was doing the Argent Crusade quest to kill 15 Cult of the Blackhand. I'm a lvl 80 Hunter.

The skellies in question are on the lower platform, just below where the Blackhand casters walk around with voidwalkers.

2 Reinforced Junkboxes in less than 2 minutes. By that time I had finished the quest and had moved on.

I may spend an hour or so a day over the holidays doing lazy circles there since the respawn rate is actually fantastic (not too fast, not too slow). Killing and skinning I may be able to walk out with tons of boxes and maybe an extra 40 or so gold.

i just looted a Chaîne de Figaro of the Soldier. so there is more than whats listed here. though ive probly opend about a hundred of these boxes, and its the first green ive seen.
