Best place to farm in my experience is Eclipse Point in Shadowmoon Valley. A key to gaining rep fast is to sell the greens and blues you get for gold which in turn can be used to buy Sunfury Signets.

Netherstorm is also good for farming, albeit crowded.

A third way to gain rep fast is to farm Motes of Water in Skettis off the water elementals. In my case on my server, it is faster to sell the motes of water (10 for 20g) and buy Sunfury Signets (10 for 7-8g) than it is to farm the Sunfury Signets and Arcane Tomes directly.

Demon Hunter Supplicants have the highest drop rate for these at 44%, but they don't drop a whole lot of anything else though so no cash to buy some off the AH. Edit: WoWhead apparently records this value wrong...

It takes exactly 480 signets to go from Honored to Revered and 840 signets to go from Revered to Exalted, bringing that to a grand total of 1320 signets, good luck farming!

I was farming with my kara+ geared hunter and I got exaclty 1 tome and 60 signets in 1 hour, so that's maybe an indication for you about the time it takes to farm to exalted

You can also grind firewing signets and sell them on the AH, then buy sunfury signets for the same price (or less if you're lucky) and turn them in for rep. Firewing signets are a lot quicker to grind at lvl70 than sunfury signets (and you'll get plenty of netherweave, greens and an occassional arcane tome)

With the introduction of Shattered Sun Offensive and it's related dungeons/quests, the value of Sunfury Signets (and Arcane Tomes) dropped like a brick. It's almost useless to trade them for Aldor equivalent, unless you are giving at least 3 or 4 signets/tomes for one Aldor mark/armament.

I actually got most of mine from Eclipse Point after reading this thread - but found eventually (whilst trying to break the monotony of the task) that the drop rate seemed much better at Manaforge B'naar (Netherstorm).

The mobs also go down a lot easier, drop some good greens and occasional blue - Arcane Tomes seem to drop better here too.

Only wish I'd tried farming this area earlier.

Anyway, give this area a try for half an hour, see how it compares to your findings in Eclipse. If anything, I've found it a less boring area to farm.

Ok I'm a 69 DK and im sided with the scryers...I have 30+ signets and i cant turn them in. I've done the Arcane Tome quest and still nothing...any comments?

It's much more efficient to farm instances if you're a tank class and also an enchanter at 80.

1. Droprate is higher.
2. DE greens/blues and sell the mats.
3. Use the gold to buy more Signets.
4. No competition (at WotLK hardly a concern anyway)
5. Spare change from mobs are greater, 20s-80s = More signets from AH.
6. Arcane Tomes drop VERY frequently. (2-3 per instance reset on average)

Go to Botanica, farm to Satyr area, get out and reset.

Fun macro I made:

This will count the amount of tomes and signets you have, multiply the rep value for each (25 per signet, 350 per tome) and then add the two values.

In other words, it counts the amount of signets and tomes you have and tells you how much rep they are worth =D

The Mechanar seems to be the best place to farm these in my experience. Nice quick dungeon that you can blitz through at 85, plenty of blood elf mobs that drop Signets/Tomes, and an exit right next to the final boss so you can go out, reset and go straight back in again. Plus you'll probably end up with two or three stacks of Netherweave and a bunch of assorted greens each run, and it's right next to the Cosmowrench flight point.

I soloed both The Mechanar and Botanica on my decently geared BM hunter. Here's what I got:
The Mechanar took 24 minutes and yielded

22 sunfury signets
16 marks of sargeras
1 fel armament

You start getting signets only after the first boss, so you basically need to do the entire instance to get the signets.

The Botanica took 30 minutes and yielded

35 sunfury signets
4 arcane tomes

You start getting signets immediately and until the Thorngrin boss you already have nearly all the signets you're going to get if you finish the instance. If you intend to farm these, just turn back as soon as you see the room full of satyr, run out, reset and repeat. That should save you some 10 minutes per run and maximize number of signets per minute.

So clearly, Botanica is superior, at least as far as farming signets/tomes goes.

Best place for me to farm these (and Arcane Tomes) is Shadowmoon Valley at 51.7 63.2 west of Sanctum of the Stars. Many humanoids, fast respawn, need about 15 minutes for a whole run at the edge and gives about 50 signets and 2-3 tomes.

If you're level 85 and looking to grind Scryer reputation then The Path of Conquest in Shadowmoon Valley has large clusters of blood elves that are perfect for farming Arcane Tomes, Sunfury Signets and Netherweave Cloth. There's probably 120~ mobs within the area all located close together for easy grinding.

I find that the Mechanar gives approximately 25 signets each run so if you run both regular and heroic that's 50. Plus you will get rep with sha'tar if you still need it.

If anyone needs more of these, I decided to check on the AH to see if others are selling them, because I have no use for them, and yes, there are some for sale, so i put mine up there too. So, if you need 3 or 5 more, you can most likely find them on the ah.

I just finished farming the Blood Elves around Manaforge B'naar in Netherstorm for about an hour. I was able to run around shooting everything in sight, and by the time I made it back around the forge, all of the Blood Elves had respawned. During the hour, I didn't see another player at all.

After 1 hour:

Sunfury Signet - 94
Arcane Tome - 7
Netherweave Cloth - 191

Gold - approx 75g from looting/selling junk

This is by far much more than I have ever picked up from running the Tempest Keep dungeons. I also didn't have to worry about killing worthless mobs (demons, Satyrs, plants etc) over and over again, or resetting a dungeon.

I wish I had read the previous post before I did this!

Anyway, I went to Eclipse Point in southern Shadowmoon Valley and killed 100 of the Eclipsilon blood elves. I was grinding for Sunfury Signets and Arcane Tomes. Here is what I got...

28 Sunfury Signets (700 reputation gain)
2 Arcane Tomes (700 more)

So, 1400 rep gain for 100 kills averages to about 14 rep per kill over the long haul. I am a DPS shammy, so this took me 60-75 minutes (?).

I also got the following from chests and other mobs:

16 gold in mob loot and vendor trash
52 netherweave cloth
2 greens
1 super healing potion
5 knothide leather
3 wind scales
2 khorium ore

Save these until you're honored and just use Firewing signets to get you there. Firewing signets become worthless after honored, but you can still turn these and Arcane Tomes in for rep.

I saved all mine for honored, along with my arcane tomes. Once I hit honored, I could not turn these (sunfury) signets in to the lady in Shattrath. I had to first do the quest in Shadowmoon Valley, at the Scryer outpost there. Turn in at least 10 signets to her for rep, then the repeatable turn-in quest in Shatt becomes available.

So:
Until honored - firewing signets
Once honored - repeatable sunfury signets in Shadowmoon
Still honored - sunfury signets in Shatt/Shadowmoon, Arcane Tomes in Shatt

And quest, turn in signets, turn in tomes until exalted.

imo, if your not in a BT raiding guild, the way too go for these is netherstorm. i know SMV esciplon point (or whatever its called) has a slightly higher drop rate, but if you go just southeast of manaforge b'narr theres an encampment of Sunfury geologists that drop them nicely.

just got exaulted with scryers today frm farming there. (altho obviously (again) it took more than just tonight)

why there instad of SMV? the mobs are closer togeather, and easier to kill.

Obviously the best zone for it would be around the Netherstorm Mana-Forges due to the great amount of Blood Elves in there.

B'naar - 4/10; since the NPCs there are relatively easy and low lvled, the drop rate is rather low.

Coruu - 6/10; lots of arcanists and guards to go around, the mobs around that close to each other and normal drop rate.

Duro - 7-8/10*; better drop rate, squishy mobs and they're spread out in a way which makes pulling one after another very easy.

Ultris - 0/10; completely populated by demons, zero drop rate, zero blood elves.

Ara - 5-7/10**; nice droprate but there are a bit too many Demon NPCs in there so it might be a bit irritating.

*(7) the mages have a Frost Shield which makes meleering rather annoying.
*(5) the spellbreakers and mana burning pets make it alot harder for casters than melee classes.

I prefer grinding these and the tomes out in Shadowmoon Valley, southern tier of the Black Temple area. Especially as a mage, it's really easy to AoE pull around 8-10 of them. Goes by reallll quick.

I forgot to mention that Eclipse Point in Shadowmoon Valley is also a very nice spot but it's usually pretty crowded and the dragonhawks in there can get on your nerves.

Besides that, it's very nice for farming so I'd give it 7.5/10.

But I suggest you don't try the "walk" area east of the Point; the patrol, the giants, the 100 mobs which come at you at one time = bad idea

I've been farming at manaforge duro for around an hour, and i've gotten around 40 signets.

-low health mobs (only 10secs to kill each)
-mobs are close enough to keep pulling but far enough to avoid chain aggro
-lots and lots of netherweave
-average 10-20s cash loot + greys and greens

~lvl 70 destro lock

Edit: But remember to bring heaps of food and water coz the horde DO gank and sometimes u will get chain aggro as a result of bugs/patrol

You do not have to be at a particular rep level, you DO however have to at level 68 to hand these in.

If you aren't 68 yet, then hold onto them until you are. You'll get there soon enough.

Everyone on here says that Manaforge Duro is the best for grinding these. I got @#$% there, like 2 signets in an hour, no tomes. Same for every Manaforge in Netherstorm.

So I tried the Ruins of Karabor in Shadowmoon Valley. I got @#$% for signets there as well, about 1 in every 5-10 kills, sometimes worse, never better. However, I got 4 tomes there in about 2 hours. Much better than Netherstorm.

Either way, I'm getting horribly low drop rates on these. All my friends are saying 50-30% drop rates for them, I'm getting 23% according to my MobInfo mod. Getting kinda pissed off here....

I started grinding today for more signets in Netherstorm like i have in the past. The drops rates are now terrible. I used to get the average of about 1 in every 3-4 kills. Now its like every 5-6 kills. I think Blizz changed something for the worse.

The right-hand approach at the Black Temple offers well spaced mobs that drop at 25%. In particular, as you accend the ramp, there is a side alley to the left. Kinda out of the way and respawns like clockwork as you go from one end to the other.

It also doubles as an uninterupted place to practice that funky new move or piece of equipment with a damage meter on opponent clones.

I don't get the ongoing drop rate lament. By now you have done some sort of drop grind, presumably the Firewing signets, and should have observed that drop rates are VARIABLE. I've picked up 20 signets in an hour and 20 signets in four hours. I've had arcane tomes drop in the space of three kills and none drop for 100 kills. If you keep track of everything, you usually find that the drop rates even out and reflect those suggested on these sites. It's a crapper when you have a bad day and worse when you have two in a row but it does not mean that any one one location is no longer good for the drop or Blizzard has nerfed the drop rate. Grinding is just that: grinding. Mind-numbing, monotonous, frustrating, and once in a rare while you have that amazing run. Savor it during the low times.

If you can make at least 2g per minute I don't even recommend farming the Sunfury Signets, just farm for gold and buy them off the AH, you'll save yourself A LOT time this way.

I ended up with 33 of these signets, and 5 tomes, after doing the manaforge quest chain in netherstorm. No extra grinding, just these quests. Haven't been to Ruins of Karabor yet, but it'd have to be pretty good to top this, i'd say I got about a 33% drop rate. Not to mention the netherweave.

This is just a little something I've found out while crying myself to sleep about not being able to turn these in.

You need to complete a quest in Shadowmoon Valley to be able to turn it in, called "Sunfury Signets".

Just something I want to share, so you don't waste time like I did :)

Notice the cost/reputation ratio is generally much better with signets than with tomes. For anyone who wants to check: multiply single price by 10, that's 250 reputation per turn-in. Now multiply by 7/5 and check how much you had to pay for 350 rep. This amount is normally lower than the price for 1 arcane tome.
BTW it's the same with Aldor reputation.

Just a heads up for grinding them out....In Shadowmoon Valley basicall at the black temple. There on the left hand side is just a line of blood elves....about a 29% drop rate accroding to thottbat....My lvl 66 prot warrior doesnt even have a problem grinding them.....very very easy rep/money.

Im a lvl 70 aff lock who is trying to get exated with scryers and shattered sun offensive so i can get ring from scryers and neck from th offnsive, I find th eziest way to get rep with both of thm at th same time is to do the dailies in quendalas witch gets u ton of money and then with the money u hav earned doing dailies u buy sunfury signets of the AH , this strategy is no good if u need money but is very good if thats all ur working on and money is not rly ur biggest concern, i alreay have my flyer and im getting pvp gear so money is not rly a pressing matter for me but getting the ring and neck are (my guild i gunna strt doing kara soon) hope this hlps, i know it did for me

I found a sweet spot in B'naar. Its a nice loop that my almost all epic lock cant keep clear fast enough. Land at about 24,74 and just follow knoll around . good drops. a few single pulls, several 2-3 pulls and a few 4+ pulls
No elites patrol this knoll. I get around 50 signets adn 5 tomes an hour

Haha, yea the isle is an awesome place to get these.
When I don't try I get like 15 while doing the dailys.
and when I do try I get like 50 an hour.
