Silly as it is one of my favorite moments was crafting my hat of wintery doom. I was stuck wearing spellstrike hood for 2 years because I'm in a casual guild and the helm from Malacrass never would drop so I was stuck wearing that set forever. When I hit 80 I was so excited to go back to my bank and put on a hat I could stand to turn on the graphic for. That it takes me back to the days of wearing the pimp hat from dead strat.

One of my most epic loot was probably The Unstoppable Force, it took me so long to get that weapon, but it was worth it. When weapons required rep and money. Wow exalted and 120~ gold, I used that thing all the way into TBC
The day my Nemesis Skullcap dropped. I had run Onyxia about 20 times and missed one of them. It dropped on the one I missed, so it became the item I desired the most. That night was one of my most memorable wow experiences for epic loot.
I'm a minipet collector, so of course I always go out and farm them.Perhaps one of the most 'epic' ones is my Hyacinth Macaw. I had spent -months- farming that thing, and with absolutely no luck. I was starting to get frustrated when one of the pirate hats dropped... and then another... and -another-. At first I was mad that the game would give me three hats which were about as rare as the pet, but no parrot. I went and sold 'em all and got about 500 gold... and then saw the macaw on the AH for about 100. I was one happy druid with my minipet and 400 extra gold.
Desecrated Headpiece from Thaddius. I was like, 8th in bloody line for that thing after all the rolls we did.
After WotLK was released I made a Death Knight like (most) everyone else. After getting out of the starting area and getting to 60 I just had to play some AV to see how well things worked in a PvP environment. After several matches in a row of 16/40 (Alliance/Horde) I decided to put my foot down and make everyone listen."We need to summon Ivus if we want any chance of winning this match!"It too a few tries but eventually there were other people I was continuously in matches with that realized this was the way to go. We were pushed back, all the way back to the bridge and it seemed like we were going to lose until I turned in enough Storm Crystals to get the Druids moving. We then pushed forward with all of our healers on the Druids and pumping out as much AoE as we could. We finally managed to push all the way to the field of Strife! We began the summoning and finally, we summoned the Forest Lord.Things got a little hectic at this point. As it would seem, Death Knights were able to serious hurt Ivus and he was dropping fast. Every healing class we had available went into healing mode to keep him up. That is when the Gryphons arrived. The Horde had no chance after this new development and the Alliance finally broke a few day long loosing streak. The next match things were completely different as the Alliance had way more than the Horde and this continued throughout the next few days. This is what I consider an epic moment and I am proud to have taken part in it.
My favorite epic i have ever gotten was the dragonstrike mace. I spent weeks farming and getting up to 375 blacksmithing. I built the drakefist hammer and, was trying to get the mats to buid the next one. I mentioned it to some friends and they decided to help me get not only the dragonmaw but also finish with the dragonstrike. So we pooled resource ( theirs mostly) and got all the mats and got it finished that night at like 2:00 am.
The Broken I.W.I.N Button of course!
when my guild first starting farming kara and i won the first sunfury to ever drop for my guild, twas awesome :D
