Después de leer todos los comentarios en ingles, no puedo acabar esta misión en este parche 4.3.3. con mi picara, no puedo estar en sigilo, 3 minutos es demasiado para mis cueritos.
Lo hice con otras clases, Druida, Caza, Maga, en anteriores parches sin dificultad.
El truco de estar volando y coger la misión y subir sin moverse a derecha. o izq. estar arriba del de la misión (me atacan arqueros me bajan, 4 a la vez) me matan.
Ir al los grifos, (me saltan encima 3 y se agrean los de alrededor, 2 mas) me matan.
No consigo que me ayude nadie con la misión, y si no estas en misión no ves nada. es Fase, de una pantalla diferente.
Alguna sugerencia de este parche . Gracias.

I have spent hours on Defend the Rebel Camp and a whopping 69g for just one repair bill . Either bring an army with you, or forget the whole darn thing. Very unfair of WOW not to have made this a group quest. Without any notice, you're trying to undertake it alone and dying within seconds.
How did others solo this, esp leather and cloth wearers?

Decided that Holy spec made me last longer than Shadow. After dying quite a few times, I hopped on my flying mount after accepting the quest and hovered just over the fight. Got dragged into the fight by some trolls that ran up a little mound, but I avoided having to burn mana long enough that I could bubble, fear and self heal long enough to last.

Blizz is either having fun with this one or they screwed the pooch! Defended the camp but cannot mount the griffin to continue. The mobs spawn to fast and it keeps saying that you are busy and cannot use the taxi service. WTH? Anyone else have any better luck?

All I can say is that this quest is a nightmare UNLESS you're a tank or if you're with a sturdy healer. I did this in cloth with a mage friend, and together we died about six times over. The mobs won't even give you the chance to rez and eat in peace. They can and WILL hunt you down and kill you again.

What I suggest is:

1) Be geared enough to queue for ZG/ZA before you start this. This is your best bet for NOT being overwhelmed and killed.

2) Don't worry about actively defending the NPCs. This quest is about how many you kill, not how many people you save.

3) If you're a clothie, fight from afar. Suck up your pride and just kill them one by one, slowly. That said...

4) Don't fight in the middle of the open camp OR the entrance! Pick a side and start killing mobs along it. This reduces your chance of pulling more.

5) Don't be ashamed to use your CDs. You're phased differently, no one is around, no one is going to see you or hear about it, just DO IT. If you die, you fail. As long as it's not going to pull unnecessary mobs, go all out for this quest.

Doing it on a mage, first I tried flying for two minutes before there appeared some mobs that shoots down people on flying mounts.

Then invisible for the next 20 seconds.

Then I managed to get outside, polymorph my attacker and kill it.

Then I had to flee all the way to Duskwood after turning the quest in.

Guess my warrior will love this, plate and victory rush self healing are needed for this quest.

Another hint for doing the followup:
After turning in this quest, run for Duskwood, when you get back you will not be in the phase where you are dragged into the fight and can safely pick up the followup quest and mount the gryphon.

Edit:
My main warrior, in dps spec, had no problems at all.
Since they do not produce rep or experience, there was no victory rush, but plate combined with better dps made a world of difference.

So do not do this unless you are ready to go for the Z heroics.

This quest is about how many you kill

No it is not, it is about avoiding damage as much as possible for three minutes.

That said, your hint about being geared for the new heroics is possibly a good idea. My mage and lots others trying this may not be.

Figured out a way around this. 85 Survival Hunter. As soon as I picked up the quest, I mounted a flying mount and took just enough altitude to stay above the fray. At about 90 seconds into it, I started taking damage so moved to the northern edge of the camp, landed, killed 2 attackers, then feigned death to lose aggro. Once I was alone, I camoflagued and waited out the timer. Quest completed.

If you can't win by force, use Guile!

- stay mounted, swoop down, grab quest, fly up
- fly to northern area up top in the grass and land
- they will spawn one at a time slowly after about half way thru.
- don't run or try to get away or try getting down in the middle of it because they will find you anywhere and you will just end up with muliples attacking you.
- I died several times trying to avoid fighting. Its best to just stay on the edge and slowly work thru them.

How I did it!
Take the quest from the questgiver, while u are mounted. Do this while there are no hordes near to attack you.

Then go up, fast. A bit higher than the nearest tree. About half way of the 2 trees pointing north of you.

If you go higher, your quest will fail.
Well, better to try high way up and retake the quest if it fail, than die:P, I did die a lot of times trying to fight those guys.
Then try lower next time. The hordes shoot very high in the air.

I was mounted when I took the quest. I flew immediately to the northern reaches on the grassy areas of the hills. I don't think it matters that I was in a northern area so much as I was in a remote area where I did not have two or more mobs on me at once. I did this quest as a mage. After fighting as long as I could, I became invisivible and moved to another remote area to avoid my last attacker who would have killed me (again). I used mirror image to good effect. Disguising myself as an herb failed immediately when the next mob spawned. I spent a lot of gold and died many times completing the quest. Had no trouble flying to the dig site on the gryphon.

After dying approximately 7 times and incurring a 95g repair bill; I flew in, grabbed the quest, then flew straight up til I was well above the trees, making sure that the timer was still going. Waited out the 3 minutes then flew in and the quest completed. Turned in, grabbed the next one and got the heck out of dodge! :)

The best idea I saw, worked for me fighting alone (dk). Clear the road up to the questgiver, then take the quest and move back down a ways to the outside edge. You should see an occasional troll come down the hill and run into the fight. If he doesn't attack you and goes into the fray, you're at the right spot.

An occasional troll will come up the road from behind (shoots a single arrow first), but kill it and you should even have enough time to eat or heal before the next one trots up from downhill. I probably could have done it without healing and I'm dps geared.

I made the whole 3 minutes with ease.

One thing for sure, this quest is phased, so if you don't have a group to help you with it, forget trying to do it. you will DIE!

Tried flying atop the trees with my destro warlock but it didn't work and I died twice.

Then I followed Kaelene's idea and moved to 48.75 / 12.95, a small rock at the right side of the road up to the quest-giver and that was it !

Only fought 5 trolls, nicely spaced one after the other, with no sweating.

Finished with 80 % life without even using potions or bandages.

Thumbs up for Kaelene !

For my nelf priest, neither holy nor shadow seemed to make any difference. I liked the flying mount idea from rhea, as that worked for 70 to 90 seconds before she was dismounted. After that my priest defended herself as best she could until her HP was dangerously low. She then shadow melded (Thank you night elf racial) and waited that out slowly healing back up on spirit alone. The problem was stealthing in a spot where a mob won't discover you by running through you. She did find a spot near the gryphon master and the edge of the short cliff where the trolls rarely passed by. By then she had 20 seconds to go and barely made it simply by healing herself. She got the quest completed, turned in the quest, and was killed for the last time. <grin> Whew! That was one tough quest. 55+ gold repair bill on cloth.

Definitely wait to get the quest when there is no one to attack you until after you get the quest. Use flying mount, shadow meld/vanish if you have it, and as Kiltarnish suggested, feign death sounds like a winner.

85 Druid geared for heals. I tried Boomkin form but couldn't kill and heal fast enough. I tried Resto and lasted the longest but no matter what I did or where I stood, after 2 min.s 7-10 guys were on me and leather just can't take those kind of hits. I could never get the quest when I didn't aggro anybody and when I went to the tree for the 1st minute like people suggested, the trolls actually climbed the tree and whacked on me for awhile. I tried landing on the cart by the north grassy place, I tried the grassy place, I tried the so called rock and saw where only one guy was coming out at a time and it was cake ... until the 2+ minute mark and they started spawning all around me, on the road, and clobbered me. You can't get help from guildies because you are phased. Current item level: 338, 38 gold in repairs, numerous frustrating deaths. I am giving up for now for sure.

I easily did this quest as well as the Horde equivalent on a human ret paladin and a blood elf prot paladin, respectively. However, trying to do this on my draenei fire mage was a repeated exercise in FAIL.

This quest, and in fact most of the level 80+ Cata questing experience, has really convinced me that Blizzard has come to the conclusion that dungeons and raiding are the only things players care about, and that everybody quests in groups. Which kind of screws cloth-wearing classes/specs that have no worthwhile defensive or healing abilities to speak of.

When the quest objective is "Help Defend the Camp", then "Accept the quest and immediately run away" shouldn't be the only viable strategy for success.

I was able to do the same thing. I accepted the quest while mounted and just flew above the trees. The quest timer didn't disappear so I just waited 3 minutes until the quest was complete; I never lifted a finger (sorry Rebel campers)! Before that, I died about 4 times with around 30 seconds left. Seriously, #$%^ this quest. Died three times all by getting overwhelmed with my crappy gear as a Level 85 Combat Rogue. My gear can't handle multiple high HP/hitting mobs.

Kept thinking if I stay Stealthed, they won't see me and I can get away with this without having to attack anyone. New spawns detect stealth in an instant and attack.
I wanted to scream at my monitor for them to just leave me alone and let me win.

I completed this quest solo as a disc-priest and had no trouble.
Keep the mobs in the center of the camp to get help from the NPCs, shield/heal like crazy, then scream them all away and run. As soon a practical outside of the camp, fade and keep running.

Fly back to the camp (if you died, you can take the rez-fine or recover your body)
Do not fly INTO the camp... hover ABOVE the gryphon.
Exchange your quests (The next one is "To the digsite")
MAKE SURE you do not have aggro - if you do, fly up and drop aggro.
Come back down, dismount and IMMEDIATELY talk to the gryphon master to get the flight out.

I just completed the quest after MANY tries. I tried everything up above. What worked for me was to accept the quest and fly straight up. I was at 47.7 & 12.1 (almost directly over the quest giver). I kept pushing up (hoping it wouldnt fail on me) and managed to complete it!

First of all, this should be a party quest.

If you have an ability similar to "feign death," use it. After many attempts as a hunter, and after realizing that you have to be on the same phase to help someone or get help on this quest, I found that you only have to defend the camp for 3 minutes. This is great, because "feign death" lasts for 5 minutes and you actually don't have to kill all of these guys, you just have to survive for 3 minutes.

I few with my gryphon over head and accepted my quest do defend. Then I few behind the gryphons on the edge (48.11) and just laid low for about 50% of the time when I found out. One bad guy shot arows and I shot him back. My pet turtle defended me and pulled aggro.. and I sat back and Press MEND PET button. Then of course, too many started to pound him and jumped him and he finallly died.. That was 90% time that passed by...

When they attacked me I put up fight then FEIGN DEATH.. I waited the remianing time until the quest time was completed. Problem was that they stand next to your body. When I rose up and tried to fly out they killed me.

When I wisped back I returned far from the fight and recovered and flewover head to turn in my quest and picked then next quest while on my gryphon..

I don't understand why people are having a hard time with the quest.

Once you start the quest, the -only- mobs that go out of their way to attack you are the Gurubashi Soul-Seekers. They spawn and go straight for you and ignore the quest helpers around you.

Kill the soul-seeker, eat, rinse and repeat.

The other mobs around you will be shot from the guards and even then, they won't aggro to you unless you are hitting them.

TLDR; Ignore all the mobs and just kill the soul-seekers when they spawn.

Here is an easy way. Accept the quest while on flying mount and immediatly fly straight up out of range of archers. Stay there for 3 min and wait for quest to complete. No fighting.

to those saying "oh I dont know what the big deal is just fly straight up and wait it out"
well there is an issue with that....apparently they can jump like 100ft + in the air and knock you off your mount and you will STILL fail the quest.

dont attempt this solo esp if you're not even geared for heroics let alone ZA/ZG you will just cause you're self a headache and a high repair bill...come back with decent enough gear to withstand this quest. its *!@#e.

Yeah, this quest is just there to frustrate people. Tried it as a mage with 327 gear level, and was tossed around like a plush toy in a dog's mouth. Wouldn't be that big of a deal, but you're not given time to heal up between soul seeker spawns.

THIS IS SOOOOO EASY!

Just fly straight up from the quest giver out of range of arrows and wait til the timer ticks down.

The quest didn't say you have to kill anything, just defend the camp. Defend in this case is a very loose term.

Yep this quest is still a waste of time. They have changed the mechanics of the quest. It doesn't matter where you stand or what you do, the soul seekers will spawn on top of you an overwhelm you. The rebels will not pull them off of you. Good luck... If anyone has any way to actually complete this quest reasonably, please post.

I was getting really mad about this quest when I decided to try something so simple that it was right in front of my eyes and I didn't see it. Fly in, get the quest, then elevate up for about three seconds. Hang there until the clock ticks down, then turn the quest in.

I died like twenty times before I figured that out.

I've tried 5 times as a balance druid with resto gear... the repair cost was 77 gold. Not worth it... going in on a mount, accept quest and fly vertical up. Wait until you got the quest done (while npc killing them hordes), fly down and turn in quest and get next quest immediately. Not worth 77 gold.

Nobody mentions as well just how annoying the troll spirit is. It's constantly getting in the way, blocking clicks. I'm constantly rotating the view to get around her. Rebel camp was it. Dumped the quest line. There was nothing, up to that point at least, that justified the trouble and expense.

As of today you cannot hover above the camp on your mount and let the NPCs defend the camp. The friggin spirit that you're "helping" dismounts you and forces you to fight. If you're a rogue, you cannot vanish and wait for the fight to end. The spirit will make you visible to the next bad guy who appears. So you're basically screwed no matter what. I've tried several of the methods posted here and none of them work.

The easiest way to defend the camp for three minutes is to accept the quest, immediately run down the path to the second from the last torch. If you stand there, you'll get one guy at a time with enough time in between to sit and eat, before the next guy comes.

I just soloed this quest easily on my DK and my Mage.

What a stupid quest! However, it's not worth dropping it out of frustration (for non-plate/mail-wearers). I've done it on 4 toons now (3 clothie/1 leather, in around iLvl350 gear) both when it was new/easy and now/stupid. If you time your quest acceptance just right, you can hover for a short while before you will be shot down. As others have said, then you then must run up the hill so only one mob will spawn on top of you at a time, which will give you just enough time to eat between respawns (impossible to do it if you stay anywhere near the quest giver now). You will be safe to turn in once it completes... grrrr!

All I did was get the quest and fly up to about the tree tops to escape the arrows and just waited. I thought the fighting would stop but it did not so it was a little tricky to complete the quest and get the dig site quest.
I did notice once you start that quest everything else in strangle thorn is blanked out until you complete this quest line.

As of now, the flying trick gives one weird side effect: After you're done with the quest, the Buscador de almas Gurubashi that you were SUPPOSED to kill, just spawn next to you, super high in the air, and use their Puntería de tirador to kick you off your mount. If you are a Druida, you can recast Forma de vuelo/Forma de vuelo presto, but if you aren't, you're screwed.

I tried this quest about 5 times, kept dying (shadow priest), upgraded my gear, tried again, died a couple more times after reading the posts on how to accept the quest then fly to a grassy area on a hill. That still didn't work. After about 80g in repairs, I decided to give the accept the quest then fly straight up advice a try even though the postings said they fixed it so it wouldn't. That worked, didn't even have to fly that far up, about level with the treetops. Finally on to the next step in the chain!

As someone else stated on this... as it wont let me reply to it.

1. Mount up before accepting quest.

2. Get quest.

3. Don't hesitate, fly straight up about a good 30-40 feet.. (To where mobs cant target you)

4. Float for 3 mins. (Quest completed)

5. Wait a min or so before coming back down, so the mobs that would have targeted you, "vanish"

6. Turn in quest, pick up the next one from the FP NPC. and goto the next quest.

(This Does work!)

After dying a half a dozen times, I found the best spot to sit. Right across from the gryphons, there's a spot on the side of the cliff that is still within range of the Rebel Camp, but far enough from the mobs. One at a time, the trolls spawned. Yes, it was one right after the other, but I didn't die. You get one down and the next one spawns almost immediately, but it was better than trying to stay in the air (kept getting shot down) or sitting anywhere else where you were in danger of having 2 or more baddies spawn on you.

The most ridiculous quest I’ve ever seen! Just read these comments! Has ANYONE beaten this quest without cheating (flying away or getting help from a friend?) Even after buying very good gear (at 1k each) I still got my ass handed to me!

It said I “failed” and when I hit OK, the quest vanished. I went back but didn’t see an exclamation mark over anyone’s head. I kept clicking on different ones until it showed me as part of the party. But I was being overwhelmed. I barely survived by dropping down in a narrow channel and running away! I couldn’t replenish my health or mana because it said I was still “in combat”, and I had no option to leave! I had to WAIT the long way...I returned but died.

Going back again, I clicked on them but nothing came up. I could only try for a few seconds each time until I’d come under fire and would have to fly away and heal myself. I tried the direct approach—walking in and picking them off “one at a time”—but they still gang up on you! After dying a FOURTH time, I just quit. Too hard, too much hassle, too expensive!

It’s clearly designed for advanced End Game characters, NOT ones who only just made it to 85! FORGET IT.
