Any word on if this can be done to all players or just the blacksmith's own gear (similar to enchanters being able to chant their rings)?

This bonus is currently for the Blacksmiths only, and will probably stay that way. Whenever you ''enchant'' this spell your gloves gets an additional colorless socket, and will require Blacksmith (xxx) to gain the bonus. This makes dropping Blacksmith after adding sockets an ineligable choice.

Blacksmiths can add a socket to their own bracers and gloves, and sell boe sockets to everyones belts.

This is a nice added benefit to blacksmiths in the expansion.

It has to be a bug, it would shouldn't mess up the socket bonus, although it is true that a single gem is better than any socket bonus.

Wowhead's Data is decieving, currently on live servers this skill is trainable at 415 and not 425.

It's also starts at green quality and is only green from 415-420, when it goes grey. Sad that such a cool skill gets you no real points.

I saw on wowinsider that we'll able to add socket to one-handed weapons too. So, can we?
Did't see it on this list, perhaps it will be added in some later patch or will blacksmiths be able to discover it like alchemists do for some of their recepies?

No. Meta socket gems can only fit in meta sockets. The only gear slot that has meta sockets currently are helmets. I am unsure however if you can socket regular gems into meta sockets, but I'm pretty sure you cannot (Unless someone can correct me on this).

Would be a bit crazy if we could socket meta gems into any socket. =)

It's only on helmets to make sure you can only have one Metasocket equipped at a time.

The blacksmith's gloves will have a new socket (Prismatic Socket) It did not affect the bonus I already had on my T7.10 Gloves but I haven't put a gem yet.

Here, I made this chart which includes ALL the professions, concerning spell power:

Alch: +47 SP (Mixology gives an extra 47 SP on Flask of the Frost Wyrm.)
BS: +46 SP (Two extra sockets, both with +23 SP.)
Ench: +46 SP (+23 SP to rings.)
Eng: +45 Haste, -1 SP (+27 SP replaces +23 Haste on cloak, +68 passive haste replaces +28 SP.)
Herb: Heal over Time (Heals for 3600, affected by maximum health.)
Inscription: +46 SP (+70 SP, +15 Crit, instead of +24 SP, +15 Crit.)
JC: +48 SP (Three +39 SP in place of three +23 SP.)
LW: +46 SP (+76 SP instead of +30 SP.)
Mining: +60 Stam (Toughness.)
Skinning: +40 Crit (Master of Anatomy.)
Tailor: -23 Haste, +50-60 SP (Roughly +50-60 passive SP replaces +23 Haste.)

In cataclism, the reagents for this recipe has been changed to 4 strong flux, probably to avoid forcing blacksmiths to farm previous expansion mats.

Incase anyone is wondering, the glove socket gained from blacksmithing DOES stack with the engineering specific enchant (Synaps Springs for example), meaning that you'd get no penalty by both having engineering and and blacksmithing.

I dropped blacksmithing and these sockets still work. I can see the gem in my extra socket like normal even though the description in the professions page says you need blacksmithing for it to remain active. That means I've taken another profession and still get to keep my 100 stats from blacksmithing for a total of 260 stats from professions.
