Any word on if this can be done to all players or just the blacksmith's own gear (similar to enchanters being able to chant their rings)?

Key word here being "your." Gloves and bracers both say "your" while 1-handed weapon says "a" (e.g. "Socket a one-handed weapon" vs. "Socket your gloves"). I think some sockets will be self-only, while others will be done via trade window, sort of how ring enchants are self-only but all other enchants can be done via trade.

This bonus is currently for the Blacksmiths only, and will probably stay that way. Whenever you ''enchant'' this spell your bracers gets an additional colorless socket, and will require Blacksmith (xxx) to gain the bonus. This makes dropping Blacksmith after adding sockets an ineligable choice.

This would be even more useful if you could actually do it on anyone's gear as a modifier like an enchant, only with a limit as to how many you can do per 24 hours, say 5 sockets.

Wowhead's Data is decieving, currently on live servers this skill is trainable at 415 and not 425.

It's also starts at green quality and is only green from 415-420, when it goes grey. Sad that such a cool skill gets you no real points.

Trucktech: You can make sockets for other people's belts, and possibly make some money for that. Bracers and Gloves are self-only.

Darkmanian: Why should Blacksmithing not have any bonus that only applies to the Blacksmith itself? Sounds pretty stupid to me. I was quite annoyed during TBC that in order to make me the best armor, I had to be an Engineer, not an Armorsmith. I'm happy that I sticked with BS, though.

And all professions now have a self-only buff, even the gathering ones. Seems like a nice trait, you chose profession X, so you're getting bonus Y. Since all professions have one, it's only fair, not?

Just a question I have been asked by people that I do not have an answer for them so I might as well ask on here.

When you add a socket to bracers or gloves, or socket your belt with the eternal belt buckle, is it possible to use a meta gem in those sockets?

I personally want to say no, but I am not 100% sure and want to know if anybody would know. Thanks.

heres a question.....i get that its a colorless socket....but what ever gem you fill the spot with....will you get credit for that color gem towards a meta? wars have a serious lack of blue sockets in gear and our 2 best metas need blue to be active =\

I've socketed a couple of bracers/gloves that had no sockets altogether, that went without issue. What I'm wondering is if I get a piece of armor that already HAS a socket spot on it, can I add this additional colorless socket to it to have 2 gems on say, my bracers or gloves? If so, that'd be awesome.

From what I've read here, I want to say its possible, just haven't gotten any gloves/bracers with sockets on them initially to try it out on.

When I read this thread I see that it should be possible to add sockets to items already containing sockets.
However, be.imba.hu, witch I use to tune my character has a different opinion.

When I equip gear with sockets I don't get a warning saying that the item miss a crafted socket.
When I equip gear without sockets I get this warning. I really hope its just a glitch on the website, but I would really appreciate confirmation.

The Blacksmithing bonus isn't as good as the others in terms of money, you still have to buy 2 extra gems : /

actually this bonus is better than say Enchanting bonus (ring enchant) because you can socket with best gem for yours spec or necessisty

for example as Retribution Paladin Strengh gem inside it will be better than this enchant due to Retribution talent and ability that scales with strength.

Here, I made this chart which includes ALL the professions, concerning spell power:

Alch: +47 SP (Mixology gives an extra 47 SP on Flask of the Frost Wyrm.)
BS: +46 SP (Two extra sockets, both with +23 SP.)
Ench: +46 SP (+23 SP to rings.)
Eng: +45 Haste, -1 SP (+27 SP replaces +23 Haste on cloak, +68 passive haste replaces +28 SP.)
Herb: Heal over Time (Heals for 3600, affected by maximum health.)
Inscription: +46 SP (+70 SP, +15 Crit, instead of +24 SP, +15 Crit.)
JC: +48 SP (Three +39 SP in place of three +23 SP.)
LW: +46 SP (+76 SP instead of +30 SP.)
Mining: +60 Stam (Toughness.)
Skinning: +40 Crit (Master of Anatomy.)
Tailor: -23 Haste, +50-60 SP (Roughly +50-60 passive SP replaces +23 Haste.)

In cataclism, the reagents for this recipe has been changed to 4 strong flux, probably to avoid forcing blacksmiths to farm previous expansion mats.

With the addition of epic gems in patch 4.3, and nothing being given to balance out the other professions, Blacksmithing is going to become the best possible profession for ALL characters.

This has even been confirmed by blues. The ability to have 2 extra epic gems far outstrips all other professions.

whats also wrong with this and Socket Gloves is that since this from trainers and people with wowhead data completion and the looter, this is not being counted as being learned. Already sent feedback about it a couple patches ago but still hasnt been fixed even talked to a GM about it. For example on mine BS it states i have 59 incomplete and for these 2 since its from trainers it should state 57, well really 58 as I havent gotten the BoP Plan from new 4.3 Plans Phantom Blade, but seems the data mined plan still not showing up for toons with BS if they are tracking their blacksmithing.
