The quest text is slightly misleading, don't stay too close to him, as the Windcaller also walks through fire he hasn't doused yet. Actually，if you can selfheal or has any damage reduction spells，there's an shortcut to the furnace at the left side, and you will only take fire damage 2-3 times ( it still a bit hurt, and be careful not to fall off) but avoid all the trash mobs fight. After you reached the furnace, just burn the big pyrelord dwon and the quest done.

On some servers this quest is currently bugged. The Windcaller never spawns. This is only a minor inconvenience as you can ~~follow the advice given above and walk on the far left edge of the path, avoiding most of the damage.~~ (not any longer, see below) Killing the pyrelord satisfies the quest objective and unlocks the furnace.

Hopefully today's rolling restarts is part of a hotfix to repair this broken quest.

Edit 2011-7-10 8:15 AM EST: While it appears to be working on some servers that were broken yesterday, others are now effected and some are still buggy. This leads me to believe the rolling restarts were not intended to address any part of this issue. I'd expect it to be a crapshoot on whether or not it's working on your server (or will remain working if it is) until we read something specifically about it in a hotfix changelog.

I find it faster to bypass the entire event anyways. I don't expect the pyrelord to pose any challenge to any character eligible for these quests.

Edit 2011-7-13 4:39 AM EST: A hotfix applied during the last maintenance period should have this (and other fireland dailies) fixed. The relevant information from the changelog is:

Windcallers now respawn within 1 minute on average for the quest Into the Fire when both are rendered inactive. Additionally, players will only experience a maximum of approximately 75 seconds of a delay before they are able to initiate the escort event.

Additional info: Included in the hotfix is extra fire along the left hand side making sidestepping the event much more difficult. If the Windcaller still appears to bug out, waiting a minute and then speaking with Skylord Omnuron seems to set things in motion once again.

FINALLY I found Thisalee Crow... after dying so many times falling off the edge of the world on a false lead. Go to The Furnace, in it there is a giant hole. Grab the rope and repel down... this is only available after you complete the quest Into The Fire.

Just did this quest with a Night Elf Hunter on Nazgrel. It's seriously bugged! The NPC never showed up. After reading posts in wowhead I just went to my left and ran around the flames. Used a few bandages and died once. You res where you died so just carry on around the flames. There was nobody else doing the quest so I soloed the elite. Easy with a hunter. Attack and run around him, stop only to heal your pet and let him have at it. (I used my favorite fox) Elite will die and you drop to next NPC. I have no idea what is going to happen next.

Still bugged on Madoran.

I attempted the workaround mentioned by others on this thread by running around the left side. I failed and died, but I made it about 2/3 of the way there. I was able to rez on the other side of the wall of flame where I was able to take down the elemental.

Be forewarned that when the elemental is killed you will fall down a deep hole. Falling after killing the elemental allows you to slow fall so you don't die. You will find another quest giver down in the tunnels below.

If you leave the tunnel area and later discover you need to go back down for another quest (a very real possibility), do not attempt to just jump back down into the hole. You will die! Instead, there is a rope sitting near the rim of the hole which will allow you to repel back down safely.

If the person isn't there, just run along the edge, you will probably take damage and possible die, if you do just get out of the fire and res. Then kill the elite, it's super easy to solo and you get credit for quest and can continue from there.

Like other pointed out, the quest is currently bugged(Eu- Runetotem). Yesterday after some waiting the NPC showed up and started the event. Today, I stood there, just waited and waited... relogged, abandoned and reaccepted quest, exited and reentered the area, nothing... And the end I just said screw it and popped Dispersion while riding through the flames, barely took any damage. Fortunately, I can confirm that if you kill the Pyrelord, you will get credit for completion, fall down the Furnace as usual and turn it in at Thisalee Crow.

Sorta makes me wish I had chosen Shadow Wardens first. I guess they also have to do some sort of introductory quest every day, I hope it's at least not bugged for them

Even standing near the Pyrelord during the fight will give you credit (assuming he dies). I had rez sickness (I fell off the edge while mounted). Somebody else started the fight and I never lifted a finger while they killed him. I had to move out of the spawning fire spouts a couple of time. When he died I got completion and I could jump down the hole with the rappelling rope.

Don't let the name of the quest fool you and actually go into the fire. You will be incinerated in about three seconds flat. >.<

I will see if an NPC spawns for the quest when next I get the chance to play. But I just walked into the walls of flame after picking up the quest, thinking I could head to the highlighted area on my map. Not quite right! At least my guild pays for repairs... :o

On skullcrusher (us server) the quest is still bugged! couldn't complete it...was on my alt (disc) and even tried to stay to the left to get it completed and no luck. Hoping that it is fixed today during the update! ty thou for the help

We’re aware that there are currently some issues with this quest, and the Windcaller NPCs may not spawn consistently as a result, but this has already been passed on to our QA teams for further investigation and we hope to have the situation resolved as soon as possible.

In the meantime, although the quest may appear to be stuck, you should still find you’re able to complete it nonetheless. Simply follow the path along the far left edge of the mountain, avoiding as much of the fire damage as possible, and you should be able to reach the top without issue. On nearing the end, a pyrelord NPC will come into view – killing him should award you with the necessary credit, and allow you to complete the quest.

Apologies for any inconvenience this situation may cause, and thanks for your understanding.

Yeah, not only is the quest still buggy, BUT they have MORE fire on the left side AND the hole is gone and I have no way to descend and get my dailies from the Druids of Talon!

Come on Blizz! Those of us who chose this quest line instead of the Shadow Wardens are being left behind big time!

This... is a daily? It was hard as hell for my Hunter. Seeing how I finally had access to The Furnace, I thought this was a one time quest.
I DO NOT want to have to be forced to do it again!

If you don't have Going Down yet, stand near the Pyrelord when he dies, and you will 'fall' down the hole (don't worry, the fall causes no damage) and it counts for the achievement!

And incase you dont have Drunken Stupor (falling while Drunk) remember to return here during the next Brewfest too.

I have been doing this quest for almost a full week on Gilneas, and I have had the Druid spawn every day. We may be lucky, or it may be that I never rush right over. Also, the one time he didn't spawn immediately, walking back to the questgiver (not mounted) and back caused him to spawn.

After dying man times, I finally tried the run up the side, mounted tactic - I still died - but I died close enough to the Pyrelord that I resurrected right in th fight zone & got credit for the kill - thi may be my method every day, just accepting one death a day to di ti. LOL

Any quest where the recommended strategy to complete is just take a death is, IMO, completely broken. The spawn rate of the adds as you escort the windcaller is impossible to overcome with some (probably all) classes unless there are multiple people doing the quest at the same time.

I find the whole Druid quest line inferior in quality / overly difficult compared to the Warden quest line and I will never take this path again.

For those having trouble with the adds on this quest, which is pretty much everyone, here's is how I deal with this quest:

I avoid aggro at all costs. I hang out in the back. I let the adds go right to the windcaller and attack him. I just run along and stay out of the fire. Occassionally, if I get bored, I'll pull one add off the windcaller and kill it in my own sweet time.

I've done this on my priest, hunter (with some trapping), and my feral druid and have not had the windcaller die once.

Not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but you can still complete this quest by defeating the Pyrelord, even if the windcaller dies.

After you reach cap (unlocked all vendors) and you are only going for achievements (死从天降) you still need to do four quests before this one unlocks in given day.

You have to do basic quests inside Molten Front before this one unlocks. Basic means those you had when you first entered Molten Front which are quests including:
killing elementals, hounds, druids of flame,
planting seeds,
healing druids

These quests does not include quests from or
You do not need to do quests outside Molten Front (in Hyjal).

this is THE worst quest/daily quest i have ever seen so far since i started playing in 2005....

I have died at least once every single time I tried this quest unless there were more people doing it, sometimes even then

first; the spawnrate of adds is insane. it's a flamewalker gank fest.

then, when i take the time to fight the adds the flames creep up upon me and it's instant death.
if I fight and try to stay close to the druid I am "facing the wrong way".

when I do NOT fight the adds they take down my hitpoints at an alarming rate, at ilvl 358....

when I drop out of aggro (I got a nightelf character, so I'm lucky enough to be able to shadowmeld), they kill the druid and i end up staring at a huge elite that then one-shots me.....

what is this?
solely designed as a genuine fun-sucker?
is this from the same developer that made some of the worst quests in Vanilla because basically he hates players? (i know who you are!)

this is ridiculous. it's a genuine insult to players.

Has anyone else experienced this quest disappearing? I was on the quest, died, lost my escort and abandoned quest to start over only I was not able to pick up the quest again. Been about a week now, and it has never appeared again.

I see the bugs with the escort not showing up but this one is new to me.

Any help would be awesome.

One thing I found handy as a Paladin is if you use Divine Shield and mount up as soon as you pop it you can run across completely ignoring the mobs and get straight to the Pyro miniboss. I've used this tactic a lot and it does save a lot of time. (You still get credit for escorting the npc to safety).

For people just doing achievements now, I've tried every possible combination of pre-quests and you have to do them all before General Taldris Moonfall will give you the choice of Spire or Into Fire

Was just hoping I could do 1 or 2 then get to the achievement part for the day, ohwell!

For all people who don't want to finish those dailies just want to pass the fire, you need to finish those 2 dailies from General Taldris Moonfall, 1 daily Burn Victims from Captain Irontree, and another daily form Rayne Feathersong. After that, this quest or The Forlorn Spire will be available.

Went to do this quest. Had read up on it first, so knew to stay back. Found that I was getting 3-6 mobs attacking one after another, so I end up fighting them all at once. Which I might have been able to handle, if it wasn't for the Windcaller constantly leaving me behind to die in the fire. On the third attempt and fifth death (two extra fire deaths trying to get my corpse back to avoid rez sickness), I ended up on the other end of the fire, with the quest marked as complete. Only no elite to kill and no hole to go into to turn in the quest. A guildie suggested logging in and out, which I did, after abandoning the quest and picking it up again. Same deal. Another guldie said I was getting way to many mobs, perhaps due to people tagging along. Tried making sure I was alone.

Still same deal. Gotta seriously wonder what's going on at Blizzard that there are these kinds of problems so late after these quests came out. I'd like to hope that this is a bug, but I suspect it's a poor piece of quest design. Even if the quest does let me eventually kill the elite after dying (which is REALLY poor quest design), if the other quests are like this, I'm not sure I want to do them. I don't mind having to work to figure a quest out, or spending a certain amount of time grinding to get the rep to progress, but it seems very wrong to have to commit suicide every day to cheat my way threw a daily. If you can even do that anymore. It may be that the problem I'm having isn't a bug, but rather a new "fix" to keep people from exploiting the rez past the fire option.

These are the kinds of problems and quests that make me want to ask if anyone can suggest another game to play online.

I only keep getting The Forlorn Spire. I tried doing them in a certain quest order, Charred Combatants, Charhounds, Burn Victims, planting the seeds. Is it random what she assigns? I have done Druids of the Talon.

Little help for warlocks.
Anytime you doing this Q, kill Pyrelord and fall down, your pet will dismiss. My tip: put pet into passive and "Move To" your pet near druid of the talon. After you kill Pyrelord, wait until you start falling down and hit Follow. Your pet will run to you, and fall with you, so you will save re-summoning pet or soulshard with soulburn instant cast.

I hate this quest with a purple -- no, orange -- passion. Thanks to the advice here for staying behind the dude a bit, but all the adds still manage to nearly kill me every time. This is not awesome for a priest.

I did this quest with Wolfmeat level 85, Warrior-Fury! This was a tough act to follow, from all the other bloggers! I just kept dying until as a Ghost, I saw the Pyrelord! I then resurrected, as he was dying and was pulled down in a deep cave of a hole, fire all around, to meet Thisalee Crow and completed an Achievement "Fireside Chat". but she also gave me another quest to continue! Level Up!

I can regularly solo it with two of my toons: a blood DK tank and an elemental shaman.

With the blood DK I just absorb and avoid so much damage and can self-heal with death strikes that I can make it through while slicing on the mobs on the way up. Really easy.

With the elemental shammy, I get about 1/3 of the way up and then throw down one of my elemental totems (earth or fire) and they keep the first half of the mobs pretty busy while I continue up the ramp. Then about 2/3 of the way up I throw down the other elemental totem and that occupies most of the rest of them until we're through.

I just managed to use the shortcut to the left, so it's not completely impassable. It did kill me before I got all the way to the end, but I didn't die until I was away enough from the fire that I could res within reach of the Pyrelord, so it's still doable with the shortcut (squishy rogue here). I agree with everyone else that it's absolutely ridiculous that this is a daily, though - this should be a one-time quest to unlock the Furnace as a daily hub.

I completed the quest and then went down the hole, however inside i died and then rezzed back at the start before the fire trail. Now i can't get back down and the pyrelord won't show up anymore. Any suggestions?

As of 4.2.2 you don't have to fight a mob on other side. You just have to get to the other side of the flames - which you can do as a ghost. I found this out because after failing to get through several times I decided to take of all of my gear and die my way in. On my second death I was looking for a res spot just past the flames when I got the quest complete message; the flames died down and I was able to res and look for the turn in NPC. (I may have gotten lucky with someone else killing the Pyrelord just as I got there - but I did get the completion as a ghost.)

The turn in is underground. In the center of the sub-zone you will find a large sinkhole. At one edge (the east - I think) you will find a clickable object - Its a rope that will lower you into the hole when used.

I don't understand how it's at all possible to solo the escort portion of this quest. Too many mobs spawn, and I can't down them fast enough before they kill me.

I discovered a trick while doing this quest. you do not need to "escort" the druid at all.
I was in a hurry and missed the last druid someone took, so I just ran on the western side of the path of fire (I did get burned a tiny bit, try to stay away from the fire as much as possible), but I jumped over the ledge and into the main part with the fire elemental.

Later when I tried to just get done quickly today, I just skipped escorting the Druid-NPC altogether and ran along the west side and hopped in and killed the Fire Elemental.

This is how to do this daily quest easily. When the windcaller druid starts his trek blowing out the flames don't immediately follow, but stay behind him, about 15-20 meters (or yards). When the enemy mobs arrive, let them attack the windcaller. He'll keep on walking, but won't take much damage. Near the end of his walk, one or two mobs will start attacking you, don't bother attacking them. Once the windcaller clears a path to the end elite, run behind the elite and start attacking it. The enemy mobs will leave as the druids all start attacking. The elite is easily defeated, and then you'll float down to the tunnel below and will be able to easily run to the quest turn in.

破碎影像之镜 makes you pretty much immune to the fire. Follow the Windcaller part of the way and pop your trinket and Sprint, Blink, Dash, Rocket Jump, etc through the remaining fire. Once you engage the boss mob, the adds despawn.

This quest isn't bugged as of 02 Jan 2012 - it is just impossible to complete without dying unless you play a class with the ability to:
(1) resist fire, and:
(2) take a lot of high-damage hits from mobs that are BEHIND YOU, because you have to keep moving forward.

This is typical of gaming firms that have little to no competition. They put out poor product, with quests that can't be completed or are full of bugs. Then you, as a paying customer, are told: "It's working as designed."

Blizzard needs to wake up and implement the business practices that got them where they are: good product that is fun to play.

This quest is a great example of how you lose customers.

Ok, I just did this quest....I don't know why everyone is saying its so hard? It doesn't seem to be bugged anymore if it was. It seems you have two choices as I saw from people showing you how to do it on Youtube. You can skip following the druid, mount up and ride on the edge where there aren't any flames. Or I chose to follow the druid and defend him against attacks, which weren't too hard, once you get to the Pyrelord you start attacking him. Until he's almost dead the ground will open and you will fall down, don't worry you won't take any fall damage. Then just run up to Thisalee Crow and turn in the quest who will have two more daily quests for you to do.

You can still get credit for completing the quest if you get killed then run through the fire in ghost form while the Druids kill Pyrelord as long as your ghost is near by then he dies. You can then res and use the Rappelling Rope to descend to hand in the quest.

I died along the way and was able to resurrect farther down by the big fire elemental. It showed 'quest complete' for me.
