"Desert Fox" was a nickname given to Erwin Rommel, one of Germany's leading generals during the Second World War.

It seems that the Schnottz quests involve several Nazi references(The furrier, Gobbels, Blitzkreig! etc..) So it would be keeping with the theme of things.

I found him just below the "A" in "Cradle of the Ancients" on the map. He's not a hostile. Just look for a brown fox like the ones in Gilneas, with his name "Desert Fox" in green. He runs around so you have to chase him and right click on him to complete the quest.

This creature is roaming around the Cradle of the Ancients, looks like a normal fox like the Gilnean ones. The NPC is friendly, you just need to pick it up.

There's an easy method to find him:

1. Create a macro "/target Desert Fox".
2. Fly around and use that macro. It shouldn't take long until he is targeted.
3. Usually he isn't easy to see due to all the trees and stuff around, even if you have him in your target.
4. So fly up into the air and watch the area from above. It's easy to see him from above once he is targeted.

Nickname of Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, German Commander who served in World War II. Commander of the 7th Panzer Division and Afrikacorps. A man well respected by his friends and enemies.

The German commander the quest is named after, Erwin Rommel, eventually became disillusioned with National Socialism and its leader, and was aware of the plot to kill "Der Furrier". After the plot, known as Operation Valkyrie, Rommel was offered a choice between execution for treason and suicide. He chose the latter.

Hence, in this quest, "Der Furrier" takes ironic revenge on the "Desert Fox" that tried to kill him.

There's no need to kill anything, The Desert Fox is a friendly target.

You just need to find him and "loot" the fox.

if you are a priest make a macro for mind vision
/target desert fox
/cast mind vision
and you find it very easily :)

Hunters - use Track Beasts. The fox will appear as a green dot on your minimap.

You must be dismounted to loot the Fox. He'll wait a few seconds for you to dismount before he despawns and takes off. Also, after I dismounted I didn't have a slot in my inventory and POOF! He vanished. Please have a bag slot available.

Leave your plates on, since he's got a green nameplate, you can see him pretty well. From what I read here, he's the only green mob (the rest are red and yellow).

I did quests for Harrison and didnt notice 2 quests

Which were in Obelisk of the stars.

After u finish questline with activating Obelisk of the stars and obelisk of the sun, u can come here and pick up quest to talk to 4 people in Landing and then Pick up Desert Fox quest! :)

just use "/target Desert Fox" and loot it.

It seems you can /target Desert Fox at a very high range - higher than most mobs. Trick is to target him, then give him a raid icon. That'll allow you to see it through hills, etc. Made it quick and easy.

Funny. He comes up as Tamable with Beast Lore, but since he's friendly, no taming for you.

He seems to respawn almost instantly once he's looted, which will hopefully make it easy for folks questing at higher traffic times. I first found him to the south eastern side of Cradle of Ancients, and immediately after picking him up, another one appeared just slightly north west of me.

Out of curiosity, I raid marked the new fox, then spent some time patting the area with /tar as I killed quest mobs. No other foxes appear to have spawned at the same time. I returned after the quest was completed and turned in, and the same targeted fox was still patting the same thirty or so yards of map, going back and forth, east to west. So, it seems once he spawns, he doesn't go very far from that location, until he's looted again.

on a side note, I felt kind of bad handing this guy over to Schnottz. . . =\

You can find the fox easy if you follow the road. Its just running around.

I found him at 41.3, 72.8. I first used the target command /tar desert fox. Unfortunately, that didnt really work well, nor did the arrow on the mini-map. After wandering around awhile I found him. He is green, so you have to touch him not kill him

The best way to do this quest is to get on your flying mount. And fly to around half a trees height or more. And type /Target Desert Fox, now all you have to do is search for a green name and or circle. I have done this quest numerous times now, and this is the most efficient way.

on your minimap, if u have find beast enabled,...he comes up as a green dot.

Found him in seconds.

He is friendly target so you can turn on the friendly nameplates and then just look for his nameplate.

Best way to catch him if your in the area, type /target desert fox then if you get his profile mark him with a skull icon, it will make it easier to see him and then to click on him!
