For lower level players, I suggest going to Mount Hyjal and killing the Scalding Rock Elementals right outside the door of the Nordrassil hub (the portal takes you here directly). Here you get the added benefit of assisting the guards or the guards assisting you. This would also be a great place for a level 85 to go, if you're in a hurry to get your quest done.

For mid 80s or level 85s looking to beat the crowds, you can kill some of the many elementals in Deepholm.

Right outside the Temple of Earth (the central quest hub) door and to the northwest there are Energized Elemental. They are levels 81 and 82 and are of neutral threat. These are also quest mobs and you may have a lot of competition for them. The northwest location is much less camped. The corpses can be mined.
East of the Temple of Earth is the Crimson Expanse subzone. It is FULL of Pulsing Geode and Fungal Behemoth which drop the quest item. These elementals are level 83. The Pulsing Geode corpses can be mined. Fungal Behemoths are the object of a Therazane daily quest, so you may wish to kill these if you are also doing dailies.

This can also be found on elementals inside dungeons.

Doing the Therazane dailies with this quest in your quest log should net you most, if not all of the Elemental Goo needed to complete it.

When going to Deepholm for this, don't bother killing Lodestone Elementals; despite their name, they do not seem to have been categorized as 'Cataclysm elemental'.

All five jewelcrafting dailies in Cataclysm have references to the TV show Futurama (some references have already been noted, simply cross-posting on all five quests):

A Present for Lila - Reference to the starship captain Leela, who also has purple hair. Also, reference to the robot Bender (Curver) and his constant drinking. (thanks for this to tonydizzle) EDIT: Upon completion, you also get a reference to the fact that Leela is a cyclops.

Elemental Goo - Reference to Professor Farnsworth and all the crazy contraptions he comes up with.

Nibbler! No! - Reference to spaceship captain Leela's pet, who eats anything and poops out starship fuel in the form of dark matter - hence, the "leavings" comment (thanks, Fortunate)

Ogrezonians in the Mood - Reference to episode 3x05, "Amazon Women in the Mood", in which the Planet Express starship crashes on the planet of the Amazonians (large females) who are ruled by the mighty Femputer. The penalty for the intrusion for all male members of the crew is "death by snoo snoo".

The Latest Fashion! - Another reference to Professor Farnsworth and his experiments and potentially to the show itself (stardust sounding like something from space, etc.)

Seems to be a 100% drop now, got 10/10 while doing a therazene daily. Could be incredbile luck I suppose but very unlikely

For those who have completed Hyjal and can not get the elementals there, the Fungal Behemoth in Deepholm had a 100% drop rate when I had the quest.

Deepholm is great for these, energized geodes are right around the door and it's 100%. Happy farming.

It appears Blizzard have changed the drop rate to 100% for any elemental you kill as of yesterday's hotfix. I just got 10 from the first 10 elementals I killed in Deepholm.

For those in the lvl 80's. They can combine this with a dungeon.
2 of the last bosses in HoO have elementals before them as mob packs.
The fire elementals before Rajh will split up in smaller ones. All will give the goo.

Also for the sub78 crowd, do not use AOE because the guards are yellow and will jump off the elemental on to you quickly if you say throw an engineer bomb :-P. Worked really well on my shammie since I could Ankh once. If you drag the elemental all the way inside the building, the inn keeper even joins in with spells.

I prefer the s in 海加尔山, as they have a chance to drop 动燃空气. I usually get 2-4 while completing this quest.

All of the Illustrious JC dailies become available at JC lvl 475.

If you are trying to get rep with Therazane by doing their dailies, just do this at the same time as , since the Gyreworms drop the Goo.

If you aren't, the easiest way is probably to just get the portal to Hyjal and smack 10 , since the portal puts you really close to them.

Fastest and easiest way to complete this quest I found - killing gyreworms in Deepholm. 100% drop, you don't have to look for them, they are everywhere. It took me 4 min to accept quest, fly via teleport to their spawn place, kill them and deliver to Isabel.

Previously, I have farmed s for the Elemental Goo. However, today when I went to Verlok Stand, I found that the zone was being used for the daily and instead of the familiar battle, we have the comparatively sedate mining operation going on.

Oh well, it looks like I'll have to resort to something like gyreworms as recommended above.

Before anyone else says "Just take the portal....", please bear in mind that it is possible to get to a level where your char can do the JC dailies without being high enough to have access to the portals to Deepholm or other Cata areas. I didn't do any of the dailies on my JC alt until I had already got 478 skill but only had reached level 75 (min level to get Illustrious JC). At that level, the only practical way I've found to solo this quest is to go to Nordrassil and pick on Sclading Rock Eles already being attacked by Wardens, and be very careful! As a 75 Demonology lock (with average items) I could still out-dps the Wardens, which meant some runs back to the lodge where the Furious Wardens and vendors kill the elementals (eventually). It would be nice if Blizz made it so you got GoH rep for killing the Scalding Rocks.

For me the easiest way of doing is going through Stormwind portal to Hyjal, and killing those Earth Elementals that are attacking the village where you just teleported into.

I tag (damage) 10 of those, AoE them down (don't hit any hostile players) and loot.
10 quest items plus some random junk or Volatile Earth

Possibly the easiest JC Daily quest.

Got the quest for the first time yesterday. Travelled to TH. Checked drop rate, saying it's 15% from those elementals. I actually got 10/10, so those have 100% drop rate, too.

I'm assuming you have to actually have this quest in your log to farm the goo? I tried farming the goo from one of my alt 85s to give to my JC (mage 75) and I can't get any goo to drop.

If you're doing Molten Front dailies (in Mount Hyjal), there's no reason to go farm these seperately. You'll encounter plenty of elementals during the dailies.

Note that for some reason, not all Elementals drop this. Even inside the Molten Front, Charred Soldier (which looks like a prime example of a fire elemental) will never drop them. Just kill the Vanquishers instead, they do.

100% drop rate - Living Blood puding like creatures in Deathwings fall in Deepholm. Finished in like 5 minutes.
