In order to complete this quest you will need to exit the keep and patrol around outside. Don't leave the compound though. Keep an eye on your chat log as you will get periodic messages that an assassin is evading your gaze and slipping back into the shadows. Eventually the assassin will attack you so you can go ahead and kill her. Loot the head from the corpse and return to Overseer Gorthak.

Leads to "Sheelah's Last Wish".

I had to patrol inside the keep as well to get the assassin to appear. After a while the assassin attacked me at the keep's entrance. She had ~1100 health and hit moderately hard.

As of Patch 4.0.3a, the Assassin was located outside the main building over to the left. As soon I made my turn she jumped out of stealth and sprinted to me.

after a lap inside I did one outside, she attacked me just north of the keep, Im fairly sure her spawn is random if your wandering around.

I also found the assasin inside the hold, just make circles around the outside till you are attacked.

Terrible quest. Not worth doing for how long it takes to get the mob to spawn. Just horrid design by Blizzard. hard to believe it came with Cata. For reference, I spent 20 minutes running around inside and just outside the compound. A chatlog filled with messages about being watched and assassin in the shadows, but never a spawn. Ended up abandoning the quest.

So, I just finished this quest. As stated previously, random emotes will pop up in your quest log; there doesn't seem to be any particular order:

A kaldorei assassin evades "Char. Name's" gaze and slips into the shadows.
You hear a shuffling noise nearby, but see nothing.
You think you see a shadowy figure out of the corner of your eye.
You have a feeling that someone is watching you...
And finally: A kaldorei assassin leaps from the shadows and attacks "Char. Name!"

I did a couple of laps both inside and outside the keep. Took about 5 and a half minutes all and all. Good luck!

Just did the quest. I ran around the building and only got one emote before I got ambushed by the mob. Seemed to work alright.

working towards the quest achievement...make sure you have your pet on passive or not present. an 80 lvl pet will kill the mob if you are not quick enough, thus preventing you from looting the head to finish the quest. prolly a common sense kind of thing, just thought I'd mention it

This works completely fine. I went out of the building, stood still for a couple of seconds and the assassin attacked me without a warning.

This might have just been a fluke but I did not get any emotes until after I dismounted. I had been running around on my mount for about 5 minutes and as soon as I did that I got tons of emotes and was attacked in less than a minute.

ok so i spent way too long trying to do this stupid quest.

PRO TIP: ignore the emotes and keep running circles (in front of keep and inside it) until the assassin attacks you. I wasted so much time looking in a small circle for the assassin after I read things like "you think you see a shadowy figure out of the corner of your eye". dont look for her, she'll find you.

Also, if you're a higher level Hunter/Warlock/Death Knight make sure your pet is in Passive stance, otherwise once the mob attacks you, your pet will kill him and you will not be capable of looting the quest item.

This happened to me, and believe me, you don't want to wait again for that mob.

Shaman's Lightning Shield is also not good there, you dont get quest item if it suicides in you.

The WORST QUEST IN THE GAME. I seriously wandered around for over 10 minutes before randomly being jumped inside the stronghold. Over 10 minutes so I could kill one person in about 5 seconds? Yeah, really cool design.....just wander around and hope for the best. There doesn't really seem to be any rhyme or reason as to how you get attacked. I tried the tip listed above of turning quickly when you get an emote. I tried looking around the immediate area when I got an emote. But none of this really helped, leading me to think it's random. If you get attacked right away, you'll have no problem with the quest. If it takes an obnoxious amount of time, you'll probably be ready to throw a brick at your monitor. Good luck...

After spending ~10 minutes running around, I came here to find out what to do. Went inside the Keep, and ran 1 lap before she attacked. Got 2 emotions before the attack.

Its pbly just my luck but i spawned her just as i went outside the room of the questgiver. Might have been a fix to shorten the spawn timer but pbly just luck

i ran around outside, got emotes, ran inside, got emotes, outside got emotes, back in. decided to drop my pet incase he was scaring her off and she jumped me right away. called my pet back and he couldn't regain the aggro. i came so close to dying. don't even want to think about what i would have thrown my mouse at if i had. she's a random spawn, my only advice is to take deep breaths and keep saying to yourself "this is only a game, this only a game..."

Inside the keep, seems to be the place to go. I ran around for a while outside, but apart from some emotes, nothing.
Then I ran one lap inside and was attacked. Died. After finding my body and moving one step, attacked again. Died.
When I found my body, I moved one step and saw her in front of me. No despawn? Turned her into a sheep.

Walk around the keep and watch your chatbox. When you get the emote "A kaldorei assassin leaps from the shadows and attacks you" You kill her.

She is hidden in a small house that has metal fences for walls. Once you leave the place you get the quest. Leave through the wooden gate and turn right. Go forward for a few seconds and on your right you will see the house.

She ended up leaping to attack me. You don't have to kill night elves to get to her.

Just a word... STUPID

this quest was rediculous... the elf is stealthed and wandering around the camp... over 1000 health so i advise being in your twenties... i found her inside the main camp just to the right of the door to the main building... make sue to watch your convo box( chat screen) you get little hints like scurrying feet and "you feel like someones watching you"

Took me 3 f$#&*@g hours... it does start a chain... if your not worried drop it... waste of time

An insanely annoying quest! Contrary to popular belief I had actually found the assassin inside the main building, on my 17 time around the circle and numerous emotes on the outside! Severely annoying quest!

I've probably done this quest at least 5 times on various toons. This was the first time on a level 85 so maybe level had something to do with aggro? Idk.... All I know is that all the times before I completed the quest within a minute of picking it up. Spawns varied with each toon I'd done it with - inside the building, outside the building, but I never left that main yard ouside the building where you get the quest. With my level 85 toon it took me about 15 minutes of running around and seeing those annoying emotes over and over again. I did abandon and retake the quest eventually (yes, I was able to pick it back up) and finally saw the assassin within 2 mins of picking up the quest the second time right in front of the building entrance.

Oh... and then there's the quest that follows soon after that one to gather Thorned Bloodcups. Good luck with the eye strain from trying to find those. (unrelated I know, but I had to say it)

I found her at 90, 57 inside the keep. I was wandering around outside the keep thinking she'd be out there then randomly ran into the keep and poof she attacked me.

I walked back and forth in front of the keep several times and had the chat posting warning me of hearing shuffling but seeing nothing. When those messages stopped I ventured inside the keep and headed south (right) for a ways down the outer ring until she appeared behind me to attack. Easy kill for rogue.

For 85 Mages and upper level mages in general ... TAKE OFF molten armor, this will kill her in two hits and if you don't get a hit in you won't be able to loot from her.

This being said the first time I aggro'd her was on the right side (facing keep). I was able to abandon and pick up the quest again. The second time I found her in front of the path to the keep. Seems to be a random spawn in a limited space.

OMG! ok, so listen to this! I got killed by the Kandori Assasin so i respawned myself. Then she suddenly attacked me and i vaneshed out of her sight (as im a rouge). After all of my health had regenerated, i walked out of the center of the keep and found the Kandori Assasin in the hall! So i say "l0l n00b4" and then go to backstab her. As my sword hits her it says "Baackstabb's Ambush hits Kandori Assasin for 381 physicle.(Critical).

I didnt get a kill, just a load of gauds telling me we had to kill all of the elves LOL!
Did this happen to anyone else?

I went out of the area - dropped the quest and was able to get it back. As stated above went left and was attacked. Just used RoF as I am an 85 lock, killed the mob and cashed in the quest no problem.

I had the comment of "A kaldorei assassin evades ******* gaze and slips into the shadows" but after 9 mins nothing spawned. Dropped quest & picked it back up. Did what trelliema suggest, ran out of keep & then back into Kargartha Keep. Didn't even make it through one lap around before character was attacked. Advice - don't waste time running outside for NPC spawn, run out & back in for a lap.

This quest requires the quest As Good As It Gets as a prerequisite.

And the quest As Good As It Gets comes at the end of an entire chain of quests from Splintertree Post and from The Mor'shan Rampart beforehand. Completing the Mor'shan Rampart quests unlocks a quest which sends you to Splintertree Post. Completing this breadcrumb quest unlocks several other quests at Splintertree Post which are not available on their own. And it is these quests which lead to the quest As Good As It Gets, and then to Security!

As a shammy for this quest and as elemental i just waited until i saw the chat message saying the asassin is watching you then immediately clicked thunderstorm which showed him and let me kill him. i dnt know what other aoe's this works with but worked pretty well for me. you do have to be very very quick tho.

after 15 minutes of running around on my new hunter I finally abandoned the quest. In about 15 minutes of questing I can gain almost a level, but now that Im headed to stonetalon, it will be about 5 levels in an hour. Good luck with this lousy quest

This quest really SUCKS. Attempting to use the tips given here did nothing; I wandered around inside and outside for way too long, seeing the orange messages in my chat box, and she finally attacked at random before I had a chance to turn around.

I relogged and abandoned the quest and retook it and ran outside, took a half walk around the building and she appeared.

I found the assassin in the outer ring of the building after speaking to gorthak. I think she was cloaked, I didn't see her until I was being attacked by her.

I just completed this quest, and was killed in the early process by ally. Point being, it took me about 10 minutes. Had I not died, I'm guessing probably would have taken about 5 minutes. I ran around mostly outside, and she seemed to trigger randomly. Thanks to all of you for your help!

I'm a lvl 83 Orc Warrior and I ran around for about 20 mins with occasional comments about the assasin, dropped the quest, stripped down naked (per other peoples suggestions), retook the quest, ran outside and to the right and got immediately attacked.

Keeping this place operational is hard enough without constant elf and draenei harassment.

Now, on top of everything, there's an assassin lurking around the camp who's killed an important diplomat... on my watch!

Whoever it is couldn't have gotten far, <class>. Scour the camp until you find her and then avenge the diplomat!

At least I can bring the assassin's head with me when I have to answer to Hellscream.]
