Okay, I have been farming these guys for over 2 hours, looking for the Piece of Rope that starts the quest line, and still nothing. I don't even know how many of them I've killed with nothing to show for it. You'd think with a 1.5% drop, that I'd have found at least one in all the time I've been farming for it...

After having done some test, the quest starter item Piece of Rope will drop from Tormented Tomb-Robber (100%) while ON the quest The Thrill of Discovery.

These guys drop rope to help you Be Prepared for your adventures with Harrison Jones, and there are three ways to get started.

1) If you accept from the , you start out with a 一根断绳, and when you walk over a ground skeleton, the Tormented Tomb-Robber that rises up will drop an additional Piece of Rope, of which you need 6.

2) If you have not yet taken the quest, and you walk over a skeleton, the Tormented Tomb-Robber that rises up will drop the seemingly similar but actually different 一根断绳, which can also begin the quest. When you accept, there is no longer a need to "talk" to the Decrepit Skeleton (you can't even target him), and the quest-giving-rope becomes the normal one...of which you need 6.

I assume (but cannot confirm) that you need to have at least begun , if not completed it (as I had), for all of this to happen.

3) If, before either of these things happens, you complete from the other fork of the quest chain, a third preparedness-being-rope-collection-option opens up. Once you turn in, leave , and then return he will offer the substantially similar . They're really afraid you'll miss it and won't be able proceed with the chain, or maybe they just really really need rope.
