- The Burrowers shell (which I had a long time ago) is an on-use that absorbs 900 damage, that's it. There's no way this could be a 1 second cooldown because it says right on the trinket that the on use effect is 2 minutes.
That is a clear example of another trinket that is implemented in exactly the same way and I assure you, this is an on-use trinket that absorbs 3200 damage ONCE every 2 minutes. It is not underpowered at all. It does NOT share cooldown with battlemaster trinkets, therefore can be popped at the same time, giving you a substantial window to be healed in.

1) its a micro shield... absorbs 3200... and the shield last 20 seconds... just that
2) the stamina its nice and its easy to get since its from badges
3) the other 2 from raids are better (stamina ones)
1 gives you permanent armor and stamina that stacks fast and actually stays quite a lot
the other one gives a usable resistence to spells... and with that you reduce damage overall and on only 1 minute CD
While this trinket is nice compared to 3.2 and before... its "worse" than the ones at 3.3

This is the first trinket in a long time that can help to mitigate all damage (rather than just physical). It may not be the best for all situations, but I think it would at least be worth keeping around for caster bosses-- and maybe even to pop right before dragon breaths.

For Druid Tanks a silent note not to forget about this trinket cooldown would work nicely with:
/cast Barkskin
/run UseInventoryItem(”13″)
or:

according to 13 is top trinket, 14 is the bottom one.
Since many ppl use to forget about trinket boosts and similar things this combo could do its almost the best possible uptime beeing inside 1 of 2 Barkskins (barkskin=1min cooldown - trinket=2min cooldown), if used every cooldowns.
Incase you want to add it to your Mangle spell this could be most logical way of use!
3200 damage is hardly 'substantial' when a boss is hitting you for 20k.
- still 3.2k is better then nothing if we speak! :)

Cleary BiS as your LFG trinket, as all anyone looks at your HP and GearScore. Swap it out without something else once the raid starts, if you theorycraft a better one - no one will notice ;)

So many people ragging on this and none are seeing the important aspect of this.
Yes it is only 3200. But bosses aren't hitting for 20K a pop in Icecrown all that often. They tuned down the damage to go with lowering avoidance.
Unlike armor, this will eat 3200 points from a magic attack. This means the bubble here is going to be useful in all situations and not just when a swing is happening.
And more importantly, you can put this on a macro when everything a panic button is needed. Drop below 20% health, know the healers are working on it, pop this. It's not as good as last stand, but these trinkets never are. Use it with last stand or some other cooldown and the bubble might be enough to keep everyone from enjoying a repair bill.
I'll be happily dumping a brewfest trinket for this. (The Ignis trinket is a myth as far as I am concerned)

firstly, the stam is pretty nice.
secondly, its a badge loot.
thirdly, regarding the proc, its INSTANT and uses no GCD.
although its not very very good, it isn't that bad either. take it as a mini last stand/survival instinct.
3200 mitigated is 3200 mitigated.
as a bear tank, coupled with barkskin, i believe the 3200 bubble can save you a second or 2 for heals to get in.
coupled with shield wall etc, its effect is amplified by x% where x is the % mitigated by your defensive cooldown.
take it like a back up potion which you can use every 2min which doesn't overheal.
i know theres better trinket out there, but its a pretty good upgrade from pre 3.3 trinket and you don't even need to go raid to get your hands on this.

SUSTAINED
Effective Health until we get to Sindragosa.
As for the on-use effect, while it is true that it might seem weak to some, and overpowered to others, i believe i have a reason for this. See, some people are doing 10-man content, where bosses are tuned to deal less damage. Here's where the 3200 bubble might seem overpowered.
Other people are doing 25-mans. This is where it might seem underwhelming.
It's simply about perception. I know that i'll personally be buying it to upgrade from
Royal Seal
.

Not bad for a badge item, but it's not a cheap badge item either. I would be a bit more impressed if it was in the 5000 point range. I would only consider this trinket after I've gotten the other (more useful) badge goodies.

I'll be getting this trinket for my pally tank but I can't decide which one of my current trinkets to replace.
I'm using the
Brewfest trinket
and
The Black Heart
. I really like the armor proc on The Black Heart but I don't know if it's worth keeping it over the stamina from the Brewfest trinket.
ICC bosses are supposed to hit for less but more often, right? So armor should be more useful than stamina.
Anyone having a similar problem?

For a warrior I could see this being useful in some situations. Pop this at the same time with Shield Block and you could mitigate a decent amount of damage. Would only work well if are expecting a big hit.

i think some of u r really underestimating the pwr of this trink sure it may seem week only cuz ur not using right
i use this trink around my cds and ive found out it works better than anything else 1st of all the dmg it stops could me magical or melee.......a few ways i use this is when am doing lord mar....who hits me for about 12.3k just about every 2~2.5secs i normally use this when "i feel" i could potentially b in trouble which in my case is when i hit around 30~45%(around -20k i have 41k unbuffed around 47k fully buffed could b more but i never pay attention to that lol)i hit shield block + this trink......it stops 3200 + around 4k dmg of me blocking so thats around 7200 lets say 7k flat.....i just took only 5.3k and if i am at 20k am i left wit 13.7k......IF for some weird case of life i dont get healed(aka ppl standing in fires and healers paying more attention to them lol) i would fully survive another 12.3k hit which can still b cut down since i should still have shield block up.....not 2 mention i could completely avoid it if i parry or dodge it and still b able 2 go for another hit at which point if ur heals cant heal u in the whole 7.5sec (if u dodge it) or 5sec(if u dont) that u just gave them then they r just bad lol
another way i use this is in voa's flame boss which after the 1st fist my shield wall is down (2min cd) so i save this for the 2nd fist when all i have left is pretty much shield block so after the very 1st hit on the 2nd fist he gets i use this since am normally down to 15-25%HP and i just basically saved my skin from dieing to the 2nd hit on of the 2nd fist buff if my healer was unable 2 top me fully
this could also b a great pvp trink since having over 1k resil is cake walk if could time it well when u have those pesky mages about die but they freeze u in place/blink out and its about 2 nuke u wit a pyro.....hit this and live another day lol.....this trink is actually very important when i pvp as prot and say i have a 2v1 and i win most of the time just keep watching the lock while u pwnd the healer put this up (for immo dmg)and after u get the immolate debuff put spell reflect and reflect either chaos bolt or confla bamm! u just reflected 16kdmg(b4 ur resil)quickly switch 2 him and shield slam hit silly he dies.........i do the same 2 arcane mages i give them room 2 cast a few arcane blast then reflect the missiles then put this up 2 cut down any fireblast they may use and pwnd them silly................i tell ya this can b either very good or very bad according 2 how u use it
but most important this is clearly another item created by blizz(along wit now the 232-245 wellfare epics) so the non hardcore raiders wouldnt fall so back so most likely this will b ur best friend for a long ass time lol considering the other stam trinks drop from a boss which is not out yet and the other is a drop from heroic mode

Hm, I asked my guildies, most of them aren't convinced that this is a good trinket.
But you should consider:
1. For
now
there is
no better
stamina trinket in game.
2. The
damage reduction shield
is regulary better than
Sindragosa's trinket effect
. Magic attacks aren't common and often you will have in magic intensive fight some resistance gear or items (and buffs of course), but the absorb shield will always help a little at every encounter.
2. It's great for gearing up, because it's so cheap. It's only 2-3 weeks of emblem farming. May be not so great when you have already 60k life, but then you are looking for your t10 pieces and so on.
3. For some subclasses like Protection Paladins there are multiplier on stamina. That means 228 stamina =
2871 hp
.
4. Dont understimate the combination effect. You can combine (via macro, no GCD)
Hardened Skin
with panic skills like
Divine Protection
(Paladin) or the
shield wall
of the warrior. That means that you have in real about 6000 dmg absorbed. Not much, but better than some armor effect...

This should be buffed. The on use effect is underwhelming. When compared to other trinkets that give health on use. Health on use is more useful in almost all practical raiding situations. For me to be interested in this trinket it would need to have in the ballpark of 8-10k absorption.

Since their procs share a cooldown and stamina stacking was the only purpose, this is a clear upgrade over one, or for most other tanks an upgrade over brewfests/black hearts. The stamina alone is worth 60 emblems. This was a solid upgrade for me, and I will use it until I get
Sindragosa's
at least. Even then, Sindragosa's won't help on patchwerk-style fights anyway.
On the proc... since it DOES absorb magic damage AND its off the GCD, this has had uses so far in raiding, mostly as a cushion effect at moments such as in deathwhisper when you know that frostbolt won't be interrupted when the rogue DCs, or anub when you're on 60% and freezing slash just came off cooldown. Its no shieldwall, but it will be better than nothing when predictable boss damage is incoming AND you're not topped off, but you need to save your cooldowns or they've already blown.
EDIT: A shorter cooldown will overpower this item in PvP. Its the way it goes, bosses hitting for 20k will laugh as this bubble vanishes, but you try to tell the ret pally pounding on you in vain that your 3200 damage bubble needs a shorter cooldown.

This one together with the other stamina trinket that increases your resistances will pe the perfect set for tanking versus magical damage.
For encounters with heavy melee damage you want to use other trinkets, maybe those with armor or procs of armor.

this trinkets use aint that bad at all, atleast not in my opinion since i'd rather take a say 8-9k dmg than 11-12k dmg hit then im close to death which is the dmg range of lord marrowlols saberlash which is why i pop it at around 20k hp so that i know that i have some chance of getting topped or just healed a little before next saberlash.

Odd thing I noticed - you can only pop Satrina's when this is off CD, but you can pop this trinket whenever. So set your macros up so that it uses Satrina's first, then this one.

My question is, if a paladin tank binds both this trinket's effect and Divine Protection (50% reduction to all incoming damage), which effect takes priority? In other words, does the 3200 get absorbed before damage is reduced by Divine protection or does Divine Protection reduce the damage by 50% and THEN it gets absorbed the the Key?
Seems to me like this is similar to Power Word: Shield. How does it work there? My guess is that both absorption effects occur first, then Divine Protection reduces the remainder of the damage.
Thoughts? Proofs?

Other people are doing 25-mans. This is where it might seem underwhelming.
While things do hit harder in 25-man, they can't really hit THAT much harder than 10-man. Bosses are still tanked by a single character for the most part. Sure, you might have to switch tanks, or have a second to take "cleave" damage or whatever, but that single tank is only going to have slightly more HP in 25-man gear than 10-man gear.
If the damage absorption is good in 10-man, it'll still be good in 25-man. You're correct that it won't be "as" good, but I wouldn't think it's really underwhelming or anything.
My question is do I replace my black heart or my brewfest trinket... hmm...

No one seems to have touched on how the increase in health absorbed and decrease in time has affected the use of this trinket...
Also, at least in the Saurfang fight, damage absorbed (vice mitigated) simply "doesn't count" for him building up blood power...which to me would seem to make this a very useful trinket for this fight.

This trinket is really good for any tank. The 226 stamina and 6400 absorb every two minutes makes it ideal for a boss fight with both magic and physical damage.

This trinket is great for a pvp warlock. With Sacrifice and this trinket you can get over 17k of damage absorbtion.
Not much use for it in PVE but it could be very valuable to a squishy toon in bg's.

This is actually rather useful as a PvP trinket for rogues. I've just replaced my Battlemaster's Trinket with it.
You lose a little offense (in the way of AP/Crit) However, the static health boost is massive, and "bubble" it provides is especially useful for rogues.
Since it completely absorbs incoming damage, it will let you vanish and with DoTs still ticking on you and not break stealth. Sure it'll only last 10s max, but that can be long enough to escape and heal up. It can also be used offensively, vanishing in combat when it would otherwise be impossible (with a bleed ticking on you for example).
If you can afford the frost emblems I urge PvP rogues to give this trinket a try in place of a Battlemaster, it's more versatile, and the cooldown is shorter by a whole minute!

Now that many people are getting to the point that they have a lot of extra frost badges every week, the versatility of this trinket is really coming to light.
I recently replaced an offensive trinket in pvp with this, and holy cow, the difference is astonishing. The stamina boost is colossal, and the bubble has honestly saved me more times than I can count. As a hunter, when our only true survivability CD is deterrence (FD can help, but it's not a real damage mitigator), this trinket is a godsend when CCs are on CD. Give it a shot, purchase one with your extra badges and see how you like it. It feels a lot better than a Battlemaster's trinket to me.

You can use this item during a raid and return it to the vendor after the raid or every 2 hours.
You can save up for your 95 badge item while using the skeleton key in this way if you don't have it yet.

For the classic/tbc raid soloing hunters. This is possibly one of the best trinkets you could get. The stamina is great so you can use a few pve pieces instead of pvp and the absorb on it is especially good on bosses such as Moroes or MGT HC Princess where you take alot of damage. Also

adds another 23 stamina to it. thats 2500 hp and with what
Endurance
adds to it this trinket gives you roughly ~2750 hp
I am combining it with

and with 2 x T5 I can pretty much play in my MM raiding spec and gear with one glyph replaced with without worrying my pet will ever die.

for a bear tank? As for PvE content, I'm only tanking the first two wings of ICC on 10-man difficulty, and we don't have Rotface down yet (that means no access to the trinket from Putricide). I have emblems to spare, so I'm seriously considering buying this since it'd be a significant boost to my hp if I did (around 44,4k in bear form with only GotW).

I've used this trinket on my druid tank, and it is only good for magic damage fights (where stamina is better than armor or avoidance), and the 6400 absorption on use is quite minor. It's a nice addition to the oh crap macro of survival instincts + barkskin, but its really just the 228 stamina that you are going for. For most fights, there's enough melee damage that this trinket is surpassed by avoidance trinkets of lower item level.
I've also got this on my resto shaman, and the stamina is great for pvp (pushes me over 30k health unbuffed), and the 6400 damage absorption while silenced is especially good when fighting a mage or hunter that silences you. It really is more of a pvp trinket than a pve trinket (mainly due to most of the ICC fights being heavy on physical damage).
It's also a nice addition to the pvp trinket + nature's swiftness + healing wave macro.
I haven't been able to test yet how this trinket's absorption of damage works if you have already dropped a stoneclaw totem, or if you drop a stoneclaw totem after using this trinket. I'd be interested to see how it works - if they stack, it might also be a nice macro for shamans to use this trinket & drop stoneclaw in the same macro and get a 10k+ damage shield. If they overwrite one another, then I will be disappointed

Here is a statement that is going to make a lot of tanks angry but hopefully it will cause them to make a gear change: This trinket is terrible for tanking pre-ICC heroic 5 mans.
This trinket is for raiding. Survivability is a big issue in raids and stamina can be very important for that. When you're getting hit for 10-15k, having over 50k health helps.
Survivability is rarely ever an issue in heroics. You're not getting hit for 15k and you don't need 50k health. Threat is going to be your biggest problem because you have more mobs and dps that isn't going to hold back. Even if you don't have a dps spec you should pick up trinkets like
Needle-Encrusted Scorpion
or
Banner of Victory
(or
Darkmoon Card: Greatness
if you've got the money) to use when doing heroics. You can also swap in some pieces of dps armor, but you don't want to lose too much defense rating. Trinkets are good to swap in because you probably don't get any defense from your trinkets.
Lots of tanks wear this trinket in heroics and think they're awesome because they have so much health. Then they look like an idiot using their taunt every time its up because they don't generate enough threat. Nobody who groups with you will be impressed by your health if you can't hold aggro.

I'm gonna let you in on a little secret this is an amazing PVP trinket for arms wars and I'll explain why. If your speced right this provides huge advantages. If you get this trinket for PVP I suggest using this in battlegrounds and arena-->

In battlegrounds I know this would provide over 10k+ in heals just the stamina alone and this is not including the 6400 damage absorb every 2 min.
In arena this provides 5k-10k+ in self heals and increases when you use commanding shout and this is not including the 6400 damage absorb every 2 min.
I've seen a special blood speced DK pvp geared with over 60k health use this he was able to solo 3 fully geared players in arena. It was pretty amazing to watch. I was just shocked. This trinket helped him tons.

I will confirm this trinket
extremely useful for rogues
, in both BGs and arena. First off, adding 2280 health makes it look like you're wearing a ton of pvp gear and resilience even if your not. This is usually enough to make people think twice about training you in arena. The extra health not only helps with making you look tougher, the absorbing affect is completely awesome.
This trinket makes your
vanish failure rate go from about 50%-75% of time the time, to LESS THAN 5% if used correctly.
Put it in a macro like:

/stopattack
/cast Cloak of Shadows
/use Corroded Skeleton Key
/cast Vanish
/stopcasting
And you will be able to vanish, remove all dots, and even if your bleeding, the 6400 dmg absorb makes it so the bleeds wont remove you from your vanish, because it's absorbed and doesn't do any damage to you. Also using this trinket makes it so you can vanish, and even if a frostbolt or hunters steady shot or other arrow hits you after your vanish, it will get absorbed and not break you out of stealth. For anyone who plays rogue knows this happens A LOT, like I said at least half your vanishes probably break prematurely. However with this trinket, your vanish success rate will go up to around 100%. Not totally 100%, b/c still weird %^&* can happen like getting blow up for more than 6400 dmg in the mila second after you vanish, and break your vanish, or sometimes weird pet !@#$ can pull you out. But I'd say you have a good 95% success rate with this trinket and your vanishes.
In arena, it also helps because after the fight starts, Everyone rogue usually uses cloak + vanish for a guaranteed 2nd opener. Then after that if you have this trinket, prep, and use Corroded skeleton key + vanish for a guaranteed 3rd opener, even when cloak is on CD. Thats because the absorb effect will last long enough to guarantee your opener to work, even if you have tons of dots and bleeds on you, so basically a skilled rogue in arena can use this as another cloak of shadows and another opener. Or just use it similarly to battlemasters, and use it when being trained and your healer is CC'd. Its extremely versatile, and I dont pvp on my rogue without it anymore.
I just pray, that since blizz isnt "fixing vanish", they will continue to release an updated version of this trinket for each tier set, because I dont ever want to play my rogue without it.

I play a draenei paladin tank and I use this trinket in my "oh &*!@"-button;

Coupled with DP, the amount of damage incoming to the absorbsion shield is halved, meaning the effective absorbsion it doubled to a rather significant 12800 damage - enough to almost completely negate the next boss hit. Coupled with the healing cooldowns, I'm back in business in no time.
It is almost as if Blizzard intended this trinket to be coupled with damage reduction cooldowns like Divine Protection, Shield Wall or Bark Skin.
And I won't even mention the wonders this button provides in pvp :D
Edit: And if you got the TPS to handle it, throw in a
Glyphed
Hand of Salvation
for an additional - or rather multiplicational - 20% damage reduction (60% total, equivalent to a Shield Wall at the cost of 20% lost threat) ramping the total effective absorbsion to a whooping 17000. (Keep in mind though, that Hands trigger the GCD)

If you need pure dps trinkets to hold aggro, much like if you need to gem for such stats to hold aggro, then you are doing something very wrong... no... just no; learn to tank, will you?
Even the best aoe tank would have problems if each dps opened with a 10k crit on different mobs. DPS scales better with gear than aoe threat generation abilities do. This is especially the case with trinkets because tanking trinkets tend to do almost nothing for threat.
Any decently geared tank could tank a heroic with no trinkets equipped. You don't
need
either trinket (threat or stamina), so the question isn't what's necessary but what is better. In heroics survivability is almost never a concern but threat and dps are. Even if you don't have threat issues increasing your dps will make the dungeon run go faster.
However, when the 4 other players fail to clear their frost-stacks on forgemaster Garfrost in PoS and die like flies, and you need to solo him the last 15% - I promise you, you'll be very glad you had those 50k health.
I specifically mentioned pre-ICC 5 mans, but anyway:
You would think that having more health would help in a situation like the one you mentioned, but often having a higher dps is preferred. 15% of Garfrost's health is 100k, that could take a long time (60-90 seconds) for a tank to solo. It is more likely that you'd have a better shot at surviving if you dropped 5-8k health to pick up a couple hundred dps (though this is highly dependent on class) because you'd cut so much time off the fight that you'd take a lot less damage. Play around with the numbers and see for yourself.
I agree that there are times in heroics when having more health might be preferred, but those cases are rare. Most of the time spent in a heroic is spent clearing trash pulls but most tanks gear themselves for those rare cases where having 50k health might come in handy. Tanks like to think more health is better but sometimes tanking is counter-intuitive.

Even the best aoe tank would have problems if each dps opened with a 10k crit on different mobs. DPS scales better with gear than aoe threat generation abilities do. This is especially the case with trinkets because tanking trinkets tend to do almost nothing for threat.
And speaking for myself as a paladin, none of the mentioned trinkets (Perhaps with the exception of the darkmoon card) are gonna help with that due to my threat-damage not being physical. And how on earth is random procs and critical strikes gonna help any tank get a head start on threat before the dps unload?
No no no, the key is to learn how to get this head-start on threat in a given pull. Know your abilities and your mechanics and how to use them.
I had this very problem you complain about once, way back when I was a new 80 in all blues, but then I discovered the wonders of Seal of Cleave and haven't had a single threat issue in a heroic since, especially not now when I'm in all purples. And if a mob does get away at the very beginning, it's nothing a single taunt won't cure. In fact, that's one of the reasons why we have taunts.
I think you are complaining about a problem that's not really there. Sure, there are a lot of lousy tanks out there, but suggesting that they start picking up dps trinkets is not gonna help with that. The best you can hope to accomplish in making many dps'ers angry as the tanks start to ninja their trinkets.

Yes I would, because I've done it! It took every cooldown and every trick in the book (Including switching to Seal of Light - ie sacrificing damage for survivability), but I pulled it through.
Your reasoning is quite typical for a dps who's had a lot of bad tanks but never actually tanked himself. Am I right?

It's worth noting that this is a stellar trinket for PvP as well, especially if you feel you need more survivability. Obviously, you'll take a major hit in the DPS department, but keep in mind you do 0 DPS if you're dead.
If you're Human, this will let you continue using the DPS trinket everyone else gets to use, and you get to use your "free" trinket slot for this without losing any DPS. 2280 extra HP and another 6100 or so on demand is nothing to sniff at.

You are wrong about the unidentifiable organ being better. It has only a 60% proc rate that DOESNT proc on blocked parried missed or dodged attacks. So lets go to our good friend math to find out what this means.

Just some minor advice for Paladins with this trinket (either Protection tanks, or pvpers as Holy/Ret/Prot)... I've found the Use on this trinket synchs incredibly well with the glyph of salvation, which gives you a 20% shieldwall every two minutes.
Macroing the two together to pop as a buffer+DR is a very powerful additional cooldown and in the environment of Arenas it can eat the timed burst of a Spellcleave team and thus save your Bubble for later. The 20% damage mitigation also serves to make the 6400 absorb more useful as a cooldown when tanking rather than just popping it constantly.

No-one has posted this yet, and many people have been flaming over a 3200 absorb bubble when bosses can hit you for three times that amount regularly.
This trinket now absorbs double the amount of damage.

I play a Draenei hunter and I'm currently doing Herbalism / Inscription for my proffesions so I just thought I would share this awesome macro with you.
/use Corroded Skeleton Key
/cast Lifeblood(Rank 6)
/cast Gift of the Naaru(Racial)
/use Heavy Frostweave Bandage
You can also put a Runic Healing Potion in there but I dont use them anymore, too expensive. As long as the shield holds Your bandage will not be interrupted. You can still use the macro while moving but the bandage part wont work. None of these trigger the global cd so its all instant.
This has saved me countless times when fighting arms warriors, feral druids and warlocks. The other day I was fighting a lock (running away in terror of course), I was spamming this macro and I literally had 1 hp left when when it kicked in. Serpent sting and my pet killed the lock and even with a hefty dose of dots on me, this brought me up to about 50% health and I could just feel the dissappointment for the poor guy as I /danced with his corpse just before he released.

Here's an interesting question... Does anyone knows if the Absorption is calculated with or without your defense?
in case it is calculated without the defense the damage absorbed will always be 6400 no mater what.
but in case it is calculated with the defense depending on the amount of defense you have your could reach much larger benefit from this trinket.
lets say you have 50% damage reduction from your defense that means that to take down 6400 HP you will actually need to take twice the damage therefore the trinket actually gives your 12800 more effective HP in those 10 seconds.
lets say you are a paladin and you use your Divine Protection that equals 50%*20%=60% damage reduction.
so 6400*(100+2*60)/100 would give you 14080 more HP to work with.
It would be great if someone could give a clear answer about it.
