Drops from the final boss of each 5-man instance in Outland, both on Normal and Heroic modes. In Normal mode, each instance's final boss has a 5% chance to drop it, while in Heroic mode, it is a guaranteed drop.

This item has dropped both times that my group killed the end boss in Heroic Mode Slave pens and Steamvault. It most likely has a 100% chance of dropping in heroic mode from the final boss of the instance.
It also has a small chance (5-10%) of dropping from normal high instances beginning with Old Hillsbrad and Sethekk Halls.

The Primal Nethers are a great way to make sure that the market is not flooded by the new craftable items. Though it will literally be a pain in the ass for the crafter himselfherself to get the Primal Nether, as it is bind on pickup, it will be worth it in the end, and the items has a potential of selling for a better price than you'd get in the past.

- Blizzard's way of limiting the effects of gold buying and farming mats (it's a pain but it's probably best for the game)
- 100% drop rate from last boss in heroic instances
- approx 5% drop rate from last boss in non-heroic (confirmed Shadow Labs, Mechonar)
- depending on server, anywhere from 200g to 1000g to request an item made with a primal nether

So TBC has been out for awhile now and more and more are running the heroics for that 100% Primal Nether drop. So what exactly are crafters getting for the trouble of completing an heroic?
Assuming I provide all the mats and this is someone out on trade channel and not a well known guildie, how much is a reasonable price to pay to have them craft the item with them providing the precious Primal Nether required?

The value of a primal nether, now that they've priced em with badges of justice, can be determined by a comparison through approximate AH value. For example:
Mana Binder's Cowl costs 50 badges.
crafted equivelent, with nether, is the Spellstrike Hood. The mats for this, on my server, cost approximately 1000 gold. 1000 divided by 50 comes to 20. 20 gold per badge. So, if a nether is 10 badges, then at 20 gold a badge a nether is worth 200 gold.

The drop table for this item has the interesting side effect of showing which instances are completed most often in Heroic mode. Currently, it shows 7252 end boss kills for Mechanar, but only 322 for Old Hillsbrad Foothills.
For those who don't know, the Primal Nether is not the only reason to run a Heroic dungeon.
Each boss drops a Badge of Justice, which can be used to purchase general-purpose epic necklaces, rings, off-hands, shields, headpieces, cloaks, and trinkets. They are also used for the best fire resist boots, gloves, chest pieces, and leggings in the game. The trinkets, in particular, are very good.
Each boss drops level 68-70 superior (blue) items. For dungeons that are level 70 runs in normal mode, this loot is the same. For dungeons that are not level 70 in normal mode, the bosses use a different loot table.
Each boss has a chance to drop an epic gem. The end boss is guaranteed to drop an epic item, in addition to a badge and the two superior items. This epic item might be a gem.
Trash monsters award 25% more reputation than normal mode. All monsters award reputation up to exalted, even if they did not do so in normal mode. Bosses also award considerably more reputation, although I don't have a formula handy for that.
What's the catch? The catch is that trash monster attacks and spells hit *much* harder than before. They will kill anyone but a well-armored tank in 2-4 hits. They also have a little more health. Bosses also hit harder (a few hit much harder), have more health, and have more abilities. On trash, each pull must have flawless healing, crowd-control, and tanking. A single mistake means a fast wipe, almost every time.
The epics attainable via heroic runs are typically one step below Karazhan epics. The badge system makes some of them a viable way to fill in gear gaps.

What's the lowest level that you can get a nether (assuming 4 well geared 70's to run you through whatever)? I'd love to be able to get one of the epic engineering helms at 50, if that's feasible :-D

In theory, if you have a nice enough guild with the right 70s on at any given time, you can farm these. Sure it'll be a pain, but you don't need them until level 70 anyway. Being a ret pally with BS, I'm going to need 8 for Deep Thunder. Hopefully my guild friends will help me farm these. Suggestion: Do with friends who will help you farm, as long as they don't need any either.

Are my friends and I just exceedingly lucky with these, or does it seem like the drop rate for non-heroics has been bumped up recently?
Out of the past 10 combined slabs and SV we've run, we've quite literally gotten no fewer than 6 primal nethers and I honestly think the real number might be 7 or 8. I cannot remember the last Murmur that didn't drop one and the last 3 Kalithreshes in a row I've done have also dropped.
I realize it's all chance and such, but at a rate of 5% it's incredibly improbable to get the results we've gotten lately... lucky or not.

It will probably be a bit less then most crafters ask for their Nether
On my server it goes in most cases between 90g-100g crafting costs so I guess the price will be around this price along the lines of 70-80g if I'm optimist. People who have nowhere to spend their badges anymore (like those who have full BT gear) can buy Nethers with their badges and sell them for some quick extra cash...

im guessing people could make a !@#$load as a leatherworker selling netherdrake gloves/helm, and simply farming these primal nethers selling them for 200g+ seems a bit ridiculous...
definitely shouldnt be boe imo.
(p.s. gold farmers wouldnt get their hands on these unless they managed to find a competent group that could farm heroic instances constantly, which i highly doubt would ever happen)

These things seem to drop a lot more than 1% of the time in non-heroic instances from my experience. I have seen around 6 drop off the final bosses and have not done anywhere near 100 instances, let alone 600. I have done maybe 40 or so. Now either I am INSANE lucky or, more likely, the drop rate isn't quite that low. I believe a 10% drop rate is a better figure. That's still only about 1 nether in 10 runs but seems much more likely from what I have seen, and also considering how many items that use primal nether are being made. The best way to get primal nether is definetly doing heroic instances if you can though. In heroics you are garunteed at least 1 primal off the end boss.
As for these being BOP? GREAT! That means you are only having the people who can actually USE these rolling on them, not chumps who are just going to go sell them. Yes I know you might of helped run that instance with the bs/lw/tailor/etc. but they arn't rolling on your BOP armor or weapons only you can use, now are they? Why should you roll on items they use in their trade? It's just like a recipe, pattern, whatever. If one drops everyone who can't use should pass while the person who is that profession needs. Sure you helped get it but it's worthless to you where as it isn't to the person with the tradeskill. It goes both ways too, you should need items only you can use.
And yes I realize there are items that you can have made which help and use primal nether. But if you want em without paying you should have trained that profession. The whole point of taking up a tradeskill is to make armor for yourself, and others at a COST (unless guildies or friends). It's not easy leveling up tradeskills and the fact that you make little to no money selling your goods after farming the mats yourself just sucks. That's not how it was meant to be. On top of getting up skills you also have should have to compete with others for mats? Others who will just under cut you on the mats and sell them super cheap on the AH? I think not. Canedriver hit the nail on the head with his post.
And to the guy complaining you can't make armor or weapons for your guild cause you need to farm primal nether? Ya, you are a moron. If guildies or friends need armor/weapons made they should help you run the instances and then let you take the nether to make them items at the end. They can still gather all the other mats pretty much, then help you do a 2 hour heroic run and you got an epic. You can easily farm 2-3 primals a day doing heroics with guildies.

These are going for around 100-200 on Frostmourn atm. they arnt

Well, if you need to use 1-2 hours getting to the last boss, and have to roll over the primal nether with 5 other ppl, that counts up for about 5-8 hours to get that specifik item.
and you can grind about 85-125G per hour, depending on the server ofc. so the price for a primal nether must be around 500-1000G. i wouldnt sell it for less. why should i?.
When i can spend the same amount of time, grinding everything else and make tons and tons more cash.

I mean I spent the time farming that nether too but since its BOP I can't get it and hand it to him. I need him to loot it. So Should I spend the time getting that nether and still pay gold for it? Th at doesn't seem right to me. I think as a guildie you do things for each other to help out. Whats the difference if he says he come help me in a Heroic cause I need X item. I am not getting anything out of it except for the badges. I don't make money going in there to help him. Why should he make money off me?

Ok so if anyone still wonder about where the Primal Nethers drop, they are from
Lv.69+ bosses in the "higher" spectre of the instances, typically seen as Lv.70
instances.
As far as I am aware, without saying this is printed in stone and how it works;
It seems that they have a 100% drop chance on defeating the last boss in
the Heroic versions of any instance (Meaning Lv.70).
Or it has a low droprate chance, might be less than a percent of a chance to
drop from bosses in the "higher" spectre of the instances, I would say from
end bosses in instances where they are Lv.70+, but this rate of dropping is very
very low, and it is pretty much a waste of time to not get yourself into some
static groups for heroic instances wich can be run "once" every day for each
instance, so 15(?) different instances in a day, but some of these are generally too hard
having monsters that crit you for 7000+ damage, so I would say the most run instances
are a few Coilfang and Hellfire ones.
Anyways to sum it up short as far as I have been noticing:
Primal Nether drop from;
- Heroic instance last boss 100%
- Normal instance last boss (Lv.70+) <1%
And Primal Nether is not for all in the group, it is _1_ PN that drop wich you have to roll for.
Hope this clears things up.
(As a motivation to do Heroic instance, every boss you kill drop a Badge of Justice
for every member of the group, wich you can use in Shattrath to purchase some
very nice items and equipments. At least you have more than the Primal Nether's
to do it for, and the last boss has a 100% drop of a epic item as well I think.)

I see a lot of players asking how much they should pay for Primal Nethers. That is just wrong. Prices for Primal Nethers are not significant since what costs more in order to craft an item are the plans, the pattern used by crafter.
Let's say one pays 1000g for some Felsteel Reaper plans, and u come along and say: "Hey, i would like to have one felsteel reaper, i will pay 100g per primal nether and i provide the rest of materials." I'd tell you to get lost. It is the crafter's freedom to make his own price according to the evolution of the market.

The bind on pick-up is a great idea. However, I would like to see this mat used for other professions in the near future and not only subjected to certain ones. The fact that I can't even roll on it while those who need it are profiting when they are require to use their Primal Nether.
I don't see myself paying an outrageous amount of money for a Primal Nether especailly when I have contributed to group runs when this item has dropped and have passed it many times. I rather Need it along with those who can use it, just to stock up in case they expand this material to all professions. It's only fair. Or better yet, I should charge the person who can use it an "X" amount of gold to pass on the item. Hey it's just buisness, if people are greedy enough to ask me to pay 100-250g per Primal Nether.

The best way to deal with it is this IMO: Don't sell anything to anyone, just make for yourself and guild mates (guild mates get it at cost). That way your guild mates are happy to let you need em, and everyone else can go hang if they want something crafted :)

I must have seen 30 of these drop, I need them for crafted items but cant pick them to give to the crafter. So I pass, the crafter picks up and wants to charge me 250g for the nether. Didnt I earn the nether just as much as he did? Why should he earn 250g per run while the others get nothing?
This is a rip off. These things need to be changed to allow anyone to pick them up and hand over to a crafter. I dont mind paying a crafting fee but its over the top to charge me for nethers which I did just as much to earn.

This really messes up the market in the idea of it's limitation. If it is to actually have value then it has to be BoE. Not every crafter is going to be willing to do runs for this is they want to sell out of guild. A guild isn't going to run you so you can make $ selling to the masses so you'll be spending countless hours farming nethers to make items. The high end crafter with Epic recipes has probably spent enough time broadcasting what they can make after hours already spent acquiring the designs alone. Now they are in a situation where they have to work again in order to make the item someone else wants. This is more work for the crafter so the charge can be warranted. Ideally they should make it BoE and then it'll still have $ and it shouldn't be a loss to the crafter do to the fact that the person that wants something made will be paying for it. Then a crafter can charge for the work farming the designs or buying the designs. Then more people would be able to get the items crafted that they want. Too often have I been asked or asked others to make an item just to discover that there was no nethers so nothing could be made.

Perhaps Blizz should have made it lootable only by professions that could use it. It seems silly that such an item can be won by someone who can only vendor it, but then I suppose it is not impossible for it to drop for a group that cannot use it. But then, it would be a non-drop or not visible if Blizzard had it so ...
In any case, the damn thing might be blue and rare and hard to get, but it is a friggin mat. Leather workers are not rolling on miner's nodes and alchemists are not rolling on skinner's skins (well, okay, there is that whole Beast issue) so I really do not understand why JCs and Alchemists would roll for this.
On the other hand, if you have a group together to run an instance in order to gain a specific drop for one person (whether it is nether for a leather worker in the Underbog or an axe for a warrior in Zul'Farrak), it is selfish and short-sighted when the whole excursion is treated like a regular pickup run. If your guild or friends are supporting your acquisition, make damn sure they are rewarded whether through drops, tips, or crafted items. I've been on too many of these wehre player X needs Y and then during the actual run also wants to need an unforseen drop and wins a bunch of greed rolls and then you don'te ven get a thank you.

so how can someone put a price on a primal nether when it's soulbound ? I mean really come on . How about the the person that has to use his hard earned badges for the nether ? and if they are the lucky one they win it in the heroic instance . I just don't know how some wise guru of WoW formulated soulbound item that it should only be worth 120 gold . I have people wanting me to make the Khorium Destroyer ? They say , " I buy the mats and you make me the Khorium Destroyer for the price of the primal nether ." I say sure but my taxs are high and I have kids to feed the price is going higher . First to use my hard earned nether and make it for 120 Gold ? I don't know about the rest of you , maybe your in good guilds and go in and kill enough bosses get badges like running water or your guild buddies let you take it . But I for one don't have that luxury not this guy . I don't have a guild and most of my runs are with pugs and not to mention the wipes that come with them plus the armor repair cost can easily cut that in half . So you spend hours on end running Heroic Instanes getting enough badges or you have a 1 in 4 chance of winning it . This is the way I see it . You hire someone to build a fence . You pay for the material but the labor for that person is not yours to set . You can take your car in to have the oil change . You can buy the oil you want and filter that you want from Wal-Mart ..sure they will put it in and sure you save some money , but guess what you still don't set the labor cost just because you bought the material . Ok sure someone has put some imaginarily 120 gold on primal nether ok sure I will accept that but guess what now comes my labor charges for all the Heroic Instances that it took for me to get that many badges or win one and I'm including the armor repair cost . They are still saving about 1000 Gold but that's not good enough for them . So the formulated scientific formula of some WoW guru 120 gold doesn't include all the labor that goes into getting the primal nether..Hmmmm I wonder why ?

Well sure a lot of oppinions and info here...Here's a overview:
1.Most proffessions use it for high end epics ( Blacksmithing / Engineering / Leatherworking / Tailoring ) , some don't use it ( Alchemy , Jewelcrafting ( not sure about that last 1 ) )
2.It IS BoP which I think is sometimes great and sometimes sucks...depends on if you need it or you got it...
3.It CAN be sold - If you have 1 of the above mentioned proffessions at high skill ( 375 ) you can make a good epic that includes primal nether in it's materials to make...So lets say some1 else wants you to make 1 of those , but Primal Nether is BoP... Well you use your own primal nether and charge him for the use just like if he bought it from you...easy

The problem is all you hear about is "it's expensive because we can only get it in instances" so what? a lot of stuff you can only get in instances. You are still making a huge profit off an item that other people helped you get, not to mention there is enough stuff in these instances that are incentive to run them, so getting the nethers is "collateral". You were probably doing the instance anyway to get all the other stuff you need.

idea of BoP mats is not new. Leather Workers that wanted to make a nice cloak for all you rogues and hunters out there that weren't raiding, had to farm for the Skins. Blacksmiths have a hammer that requires them as well. No one thought that was weird? Granted, they were used in quests as well, but the idea was there. Just find it amusing people are so bent out of shape about it. Just goes to show how greedy some people are getting....
And there's my two cents. Maybe someone out there will agree with me. Maybe not. ^^

Well, the problem with primal nether is that it only drops from the last bosss in heroic( 2nd in ramparts) and it was possible to get 3-4 skin of shadows in one run from scholomance. Just my thoughts:)

People asking for money cuz they can't use Primal Nethers just make me want to laugh. Recipes that require you to use Primal nethers are High end recipes/plans/patterns, hence it takes a while to get to that point. Just try and see how many hours and how much money someone spent to get ot that point (tailoring / BS + Mining/LW) (375). We chose crafting professions while you didn't; why need when you can't use it and why ask for money when we already spent lots trying to level our crafting skill.

I think most people have good points. Personally I'm a JCer, so I have no need for primal nether except for a weapon that I want.
Basically we all just have to suck it up. When it comes down to it, the person that is charging for the nether can charge whatever they like. It's the way it is. But just keep in mind that the consumer can decide to tell you to talk a long walk off a short plank as well.
But when it comes down to it, when the people who are selling them at stupid costs start having a cry that people aren't paying enough for them, they have to keep in mind that they did it to themselves through poor sales skills.
Oh, and by the way, the "I paid heaps to lvl my skill, what about labour?" people? Sure, no worries. So I charge you an extra $500 on a necklace because it took me 5 hours to farm the mats? No, didn't think you'd think that was fair. Don't be silly, we ALL pay money to lvl our skills, you aren't special, and your time and gold isn't worth any more than anyone else's.

SIMPLE, you ask a crafter to make something, he says it's will cost 200g more for HIS nether. DONT buy from him. you can do with out it if it's not worth that 200g hes asking.
And on a same note, don't complain when some tells you YOUR item cost to much.
Take your car down to the garage, take YOUR parts with ya, see what THEY SAY.
Look at a neather like a propritary computer part, who cares if you have a modem, your computer will only work with DELL's modem.
some crafter charge high rate for items involving nethers, simply because they have to put up with BS from half the folks that roll on it needlessly.
that nether sitting in YOUR bank, or sold to a vendor because you feel YOU EARNED it, is what makes it RARER, more difficult to get, supply and demand dudes, your taking them out of suplly, but your still demanding them.
economics 101.

No longer BoP
Sold by G'eras in Shattrah for 10 Badge of Justice
This item is a guaranteed drop from the final boss of every 5-man instance on Heroic mode. It also has a low chance to be an additional drop from the final bosses of high level dungeons.

Compared to some of the components needed for craftable sets in the pre-expansion we should be thankful that none of the x-pac components require 40-man raids to acquire. If you recall dreamscales, firey core and leather, etc were dropped in 40-man raid areas. No offence to the previous posters, but a 5-man instance is much easier to work with than 40-man or weekly dragon spawns. The fact that it is BoP is not relevent for discussion, it is what it is so deal with it.

As a pally who has all the mats for the Oathkeeper's Helm except this, you'd think I'd hate that it's BoP (I'm a miner/skinner). Actually, I think it's a brilliant idea on Blizzard's part.
To begin with, epic crafted items will actually have epic-quality AH prices now, instead of just being traded mats for the epic with a minute surcharge, depending on the crafter. Also, I've chosen mining and skinning so that I could make as much money as possible by selling raw mats - but this item being BoP means that having money isn't everything. What I like most though is that it is beautiful for guild comradeship. Basically, a guild crafter gets a recipe you want crafted (ie. Oathkeeper's Helm like stated before), so you both at least have to work together to get them the Primal Nether, so that you can get to epic item. Usually, other members of the guild will help with this common goal. It's a beautiful thing really. ^^
Well, those are my thoughts. Of course, I won't be unhappy if they are no longer BoP in the future, but I think they are groovy right now. ^^

I don't mind it being BoP, I just wish the person who wanted the item should be forced to get the item his/herself. Everyone seems to be complaining that crafters just sit in cities and craft. Well, I spent way over 1000g, farmed for days for my BoP plans, watched the AH for weeks for my low epic low drop percentage plans at 600g a pop and it is about time I get to sit back and get to profit, not go out and continue to farm the mats.
Plus, if the nether needed to be farmed by the person with the item, it would prevent someone who just turned level 70 from getting some of the best gear in the game without doing any dungeons or work for his/herself.
Also, having crafters use end-game drop items as mats is the best way to solve the crafting balance problem. Crafters traditionally don't have anything really worthwhile to craft, because if they did it would trivialize instances, but since instance stuff has to be better, it makes crafted items useless since there is no reason to blow a few hundred gold on something that you can beat with a free dungeon drop. If the person who wanted the item had to get some of the mats, it would still force them to go to all of the instances, but it would still keep the game in balance if the crafters could out-craft a lot of the instance drops.

3 ways to get Primal Nether:
//1 They drop off final bosses of outlands instances, low chance but still a chance.
//2 The drop 100% of final bosses of heroic outland instances.
//3 Buyable of Shatt's heroic items vendor. They cost 10 Badges, and badges you get from every heroic boss down.

I'm sure I'll get flammed for saying this but...
IMO every person should be able to craft an epic item for themselves once at lvl 375. It's rediculous how much F'ing work this game takes for anything you want to do or get.
I was really excited to make some epic goggles for myself, was like finaly something cool through engineering. You spend days working on mining and engineering, then days farming the mats for the item and on top of that you have to get good enough gear to hit a heroic instance to have a decent shot at getting the final item to make 1 epic item, C'mon it's not a rare item just epic.....
yes i know you can get super super lucky and get one off a non heroic end boss, but the % chance is not even worth waisting your time for one of these in a non heroic instance...
time better spent hitting arena for a item as good or nearly..

I TOTALLY agree with Kitianna. I don't mean to whine about it. . .and I certainly agree that these should be difficult to obtain. The problem is that they have made it impossible for those of us who play solo to get these and continue to advance our characters. I've always thought it would be nice if there was a solo option for all of the instances. Playing with a group is by far my least favorite thing about this game.

Just my opinion here
Primal nethers should go to people who need them to craft something for themselves.
Like T2 BS weps.
Only because that person went through the run possibly only needing the primal nether.
So I think priority should be given to those crafting a BoP item over people crafting a BoE item that they're planning on selling.
if however an engineer main tank needs a primal nether or 2 to craft the tanking gun for himself I'd be happy to let him roll.
However as most people probably do, when i get a 5 man together for a heroic or non heroics. I check armory on all of them. Ive had too much expirence with people needing things for professions that they don't have.
A guy needed a JC recipe when he wasn't a JC and i saw it on the AH for 350 gold. It was from then on I started doing this.
In doing this when recipes or nethers drop I can say, well so and so doesnt need this so greed it however so and so do need it so need.
I suggest everyone does this as it can avoid someone needing things they dont need.
But as for nethers. If you need it for something to craft for yourself I say priority over crafters and sellers.

There are three ways to get Primal Nethers
1:
Heroic last or main bosses
have around a 90% drop rate for Nethers
2: 65+ Instances have bosses that have a chance to drop the nether. The most likley
non-heroic last bosses
to drop the nether are the last bosses in: Steam Vaults, Mechanar, and The Arcatraz
3: The Final way to aquire all these is by getting
10 Badges of Justice
(which you can get from downing any boss in heroic mode) and then trading them for the nether in the Terrace of Shattrah
Now, the order for who should be allowed to need the nether goes like this:
Priorities From Greatest to Least
1:
People who
need it to craft a BOP item
(This is mainley for Blacksmith Creating T2 Crafted items, such as Deep Thunder) that they could use to improve themself
2:
A person who
needs it to craft a BOE item
such as Hurricane Boots, that he is most likely to sell.
3:
A person
who can use it later on in his proffesions
once he lvls them up, such as a lvl 304 Blacksmith
Hope this helps!

I quite agree that there should be a separate task/quest for solo players, or even mini-groups of 2 or 3. I have a level 70 hunter, with nearly maximum skill in leather working, am not in any guild and have worked hard to get him there, and rely mainly on crafting items to earn the gold to buy better gear. I think, I, like a lot of other people who play the game, cannot guarantee the time that it would take to do an instance, and when I have grouped at some of the lower levels, I have hated it when 1 person drops out, for example when 'my dinners ready'. I would not like to leave a group in the lurch because I had to leave prior to finishing the instance. Which is why I rarely group. As I said, you must guarantee that time, and it is not always available.

I agree, I just lvl'd my elementl Leather Working to 375. It took forever but i did it on my own. Problem is without a Guild (and one that will assist) it's near to impossible to get mats for the best Gear I can make. Insanity I tell you!
I kill more Clefthoof, so I can make more leather so i can make more money so i can kill more Cleft, so I can make more leather so I can make more money so I can kill more Cleft so I can (fix armor).. and get the Gold to buy some mats. To start all over.

johnboy6000 and lilcifer ; i agree so fiercly we should gang up and form a guild, or a ninja execution squad.
i too am a mainly after-work solo player, due to time differences on servers - something i can not change.
i have a L70 hunter skinning/LW both at 375 skill, which took me 5 weeks every day 4 hrs grinding to get the mats, patterns and finally skill level. i now have 2 unused purple patterns for dragonscale LW ; its driving me insane needing primal nethers for the last 3 months since getting them. why it is NOT POSSIBLE to get these solo !
why are these the only "primals" you can not make from 10 motes?
WHAT THE H*LL WERE THOSE THIEVING MORONS at Blizz thinking ?
im now at the point of just quitting and finding something else to play. Blizz making it not possible to succeed at this has pretty much broken my desire to play this game.
Oh, and thank you to all those Blizz employees who posted the glowing lies above about how wonderful this BOP item is. People who badly need these know complete lies when we read them.

I'm a 375 LW with a ton of epic patterns I can't use because I have no primal nethers. Here is a suggestion: an epic pattern will be BOP without primal nether, but becomes BOE with the addition of primal nether during manufacture. That way those of us who have spent a great deal of time and effort to elevate our crafting skills may enjoy the fruit of our labors ourselves, but can sell it only if we run the high level instances for the primal nether. As it is, I feel like I wasted my time as it is unlikely I will accumulate enough (or any) primal nethers before the next expansion arrives and makes current epics obsolete.

I understand how everyone here feels about the whole primal nether BoP thing & how the only real way to get one is through heroics (either buying one from badges or killing the boss that drops one & winning the roll). I am also more of a solo player (due to my rl schedule I only log into the game around 9pm to 11pm each night). However, I haven't read any comments yet that say anything about the PvP rewards. PvP is almost like Blizz's way of giving us solo people a way to get epic's without requiring a whole lot of time investment each night. You just log in, queue up, & play. Even if you do not win the PvP match you still get the PvP "money" (honor/points & the corresponding token). How many heroic bosses give you any reward for almost winning? Sure, you may not like the PvP rewards as much as some of the craftables that require nethers (or as much as some heroic drops), but if you honestly have no other way to get your toon some epic's then PvP would seem to be your only other choice. PvP looks to be Blizz's way of helping those who solo more often & have limited schedules to play get their toons epic gear & weapons.

Um... I am going to be sodomized for saying this, but okay.
Everyone is whining their heads off about not being able to solo a primal nether.
One. It's a dungeon drop. Like all the other dungeon drops. You cry your eyes out screaming and cursing that blizzard favors groups and parties, when, after all, it is an MMORPG. I would like to define that for those of you who may have thought that stood for "Me Me Only Roguish Person Game" and decided to play a 15$ per month game on your own. MMORPG.
Massively Multiplayer
Online Role-Playing Game
. Questions?
Many of us are antisocial IRL, but the GAME is made to be social online. Why, in fact, are you playing
online
if you don't want anyone else bugging you?
Stop freaking whining about how you want to solo an MMORPG but can't get the gear to do it. If you refuse to compromise and join a group, you're not going to get the stuff you want.
Accept it, and thank the heavens you're not playing final fantasy 11.

I have been crafting my Lionheart Champion for months, and it's 8 primal nether requirement is becoming quite a pain now. I have been able to make the sword since last summer.
But it's only recently (after grinding the battlegrounds and the Arena for epic gear) that people are accepting a retribution paladin into their groups.
For every four Heroic groups I get together only one holds up for the duration of the heroic, the others fall apart due to disconnections, rl reasons, bad undergeared tanks/healers etc...
The last 5 times I've actually gotten to the end of the instance and seen the nether drop I've been outrolled because the other crafters need one so they can make even more money selling the stuff they make and buy more swift flying mounts. I've poured all my gold into blacksmithing so I can't afford the training fees for swift flying mounts.
I've managed to get my hands on 3 out of the 8 primal nethers I need through spending badges. I have wasted soo much time and gold on repairs failing at getting nethers, and at the rate I'm going will I be better off just crafting a better weapon when I hit lvl 80?
If my server population was bigger maybe more people would be running Heroics more often, or if the big guilds didn't still have a thing against us retri pallies I might've been able to make this sword. But as for now it always seems;
"Looking for one more dps for Heroic"
"I'm a dps pally"
"...srry, we're looking for a mage"

I agree with what some of the people are saying here. It should not be this difficult to get the nethers. I have a druid who needs 3 nethers for the belt and chest piece for myself. I turned 70 couple of weeks ago, currently have 65 blue chest and 70 green belt. Good luck to me running heroics and getting the nethers! Having 6 other epics is not enough. You need to be fully epic to craft an epic piece? And something better might drop while you are trying to get the nethers? I don't see the point of having to pick a profession in order to make your own armor. None of these epics should be BOP, and you should be able to buy or have somebody else craft the armor when you just turn 70. The pieces I am trying to get are the Windhawk Hauberk & Windhawk Belt. Running heroics should be the step up from craft items, not the other way around.

My two cents...
WOW is MMORPG, which by definition is an environment for people to group and collaborate. Blizzard is right in encouraging and rewarding players who contribute to this game-playing style. However, using this as the argument against solo players is, to say the least, simple- and narrow-minded. Why? Because WOW has many lovable features that people enjoy independently of their being "social" or not. There is no reason why such a wonderful game should discriminate against those players who prefer solo or, due to their job or whatever, don't have time for instances. Some wonderful suggestions have been made regarding how to solve the problem. Another idea is to create some solo instances that place the difficulty on solving a problem, sort of like those in MYST. Make such "instances" savable in mid-game so the player can come back later and continue his/her pursuit of better gear/mat.
Overall, I think the WOW group at Bliz has got themselves into a mentality to just serve players who don't have a time issue. Well, believe it or not, most people in this world do have one. And what's more important is that many folks in this latter group also love many things WOW can offer.
A reminder to the Bliz WOW folks: The real world is MMORPG. But many people solo their way to immense success, due to their hardwork and/or intelligence. Doesn't that tell you something about game-design?

Crafting is a time-consuming and expensive venture, and certainly not something for the lazy among us. I'm a leatherworker and I find crafting offers few rewards beyond the satisfaction of doing it. If you add up the selling price of the mats in the auction house it's usually larger than the price of the item. Crafters actually pay for the opportunity to make many things. If the objective is only to make money one should just gather materials and sell those, like the farmers do.
Requirements like Primal Nether just make it harder. One has to go on raids to get this, so players who prefer PvP or solo'ing are required to do something they may not enjoy.
Rewards from PvP and raiding are greater and come much faster than crafting. So please don't call us lazy.
