Well, this is supposed to be the hardest hard mode of the Final boss of Ulduar, so, impossible won´t describe it right, but easy doesnt come any where close. This achievement is supposed to be insanely hard and i´ll be surprised if anyone manages this any time in the coming few weeks

It's going to be one beast of an achievement, that's for sure. In fact, I have difficulty seeing it being possible at the moment.
Aside from the fact that you'll have to do without any statistical bonuses granted by the Keepers (40% extra damage,
20% more HP
,
20% additional Healing taken
,
20% speed increase
and a
20% reduction in damage taken
) you will also have to work around the lack of:
1:
Hodir's Protective Gaze
, this is pretty much a "get-out-of-jail-free" card which isn't really needed if the tanks are up to snuff.
2: Mimiron's
Destabilization Matrix
. Things are getting a bit more tricky now. Considering that one half of your DPS is diverted to the Brain during phase 2 you need one heck of a DPS and Healing team to both dispose of the tencacles before they overwhelm the raid and heal through the high damage output which they produce. This can also turn things even more grim when you factor in the lack of the following ability.
3: Thorim's
Titanic Storm
which is used for killing the adds during phase 3. Without it, Yoggi will be able to heal his minions back up when he uses
Empowering Shadows
meaning you're looking at waves of constantly spawning Immortals that will mess up your tanks good, if the DPS doesn't burn Yoggi down in an expedient manner.
4: Add to that this last twist. Freya won't be there to give you
Sanity Well
, making this encounter specific resource one you cannot afford to squander. It's also probably the last safety measure your raid will want to disable, as unlucky RNG can cause raid members to be useless because Sara chose to cast her vast assortment of psychosis related spells on members a consecutive number of times.
In summation: Doing the encounter without 1-2 Keepers up should represent a fairly feasible challenge. When you get to 3, the difficulty increases exponentially and with Alone in the Darkness the function representing difficulty turns into a logarithmic one. (I'm not sure the mathematical metaphor stands. Math is yet another field of classical education in which I fail.)

Completing this achievement also unlocks the other three (
Three Lights in the Darkness

Two Lights in the Darkness
, and
One Light in the Darkness
) - the individual achievements require you to beat
Yogg-Saron
with the stated number of Keepers
or less
, as noted in their descriptions. A particularly skilled/geared guild could, in theory, go straight to beating Yogg-Saron with no Keepers and unlock all four achievements at once, but given the difficulty in doing this achievement it is extremely unlikely even on 10-man mode.

It might be only me, but I didn't find any info about the extra loots offered by the different difficulties. If anyone could share some info it would be great.
I'm looking for answer like this:
4 Watcher: Valor + Normal drop
3 Watcher: Conquest + normal drop
2 Watcher: Conquest + normal drop + Orb
1 Watcher: Conquest + normal drop + Orb + Hard mode loot

Note that you don't get a title and feat of strenght for this achievement, as that is awarded only for the 25man one.

Just a note to let you know that if you're debating on whether to two-heal or three-heal the fight, you may wanna go with two-healing. We spent the evening working on the achievement and after 10-15 wipes we finally got it. We had one of our priests switch over to shadow with the intention that as the add tank is being overwhelmed in phase 3 the shadow priest left shadowform to divine hymn the tank. Worked perfectly and we got it. But apart from the last 10 seconds of the fight healing was quite easy. (Note that we sent in an elemental shaman into the portals, as he was able to provide some limited healing to keep the dps alive).
Side note: we managed to get Yogg to 30% in just one portal phase so we completed the "speed kill" achievement as well. It's tough to manage this but it is doable.

Alone in the Darkness has become easier in the meantime, but it's still not an easy achievement. It's harder than most of the ICC heroic encounters. Even in full 264 gear or better. But you have one big advantage now: You can nuke phase 3!
Step 1: Survive phase 1 and 2.
If too many people die, abort the try. You won't have enough damage in phase 3. Keep your combat rezzes for really good trys and use them and the end of phase 2.
Step 2: Minimize your loss on sanity.
Don't panic if you lose sanity. Psychosis is random. You can reach phase 3 with 100% sanity. And you can get to 0% sanity, even if you didn't make any mistakes. It's pure luck. Avoid messing around with malady and brainlink. You'll need the sanity for phase 3.
Another important thing in minimizing sanity loss is, needing as few portal phases as possible. You can do it in 1 portal phase in 10 player mode and in 2 portal phases in 25 player mode. Don't use heroism/bloodlust in the brainroom, or other cooldowns. You'll need them in phase 3. Use 3 melees and 1 ele-shaman, moonkin or shadow in 10 player mode. The caster heals while the melees kill the tentacles. When the tentacles are done, he will do damage on the brain. 8 melees + 2 healer in 25 player mode.
Step 3: Get a good transition into phase 3.
If it's likely that you must leave the brainroom at 31%, then slow down the damage a little bit earlier. We had it once, that dots brought the brain down to 30%, while we had 1 freshly respawned crusher tentacle and a corrupter tentacle, when we entered phase 3. This will be a wipe! You won't have the time to kill remaining tentacles in phase 3.
If the brain is already very low when you enter the brainroom for the last time, slow down the damage! The range DPS will still be on the remaining tentacles outside. Give them as much time, as you can. Communicate in Teamspeak/Ventrilo/etc to know, what's happening outside. The range DPS should have killed all tentacles and gather at the entrance. That's where the melees will come out if they leave the brainroom. So the entire raid will be together when phase 3 begins.
Step 4: Kill and loot!
Phase 3 has started. Everyone is alive? There are no tentacles left? The entire raid is grouped together? Good! You're not far away from your kill. Pop heroism/bloodlust + all your other CDs and nuke Yogg. Don't care about the adds. People that are low on sanity should stop damaging Yogg and focus on the adds. The adds will do less damage, if they're not on 100% life. This will give your mates a little bit (not much) more time to kill Yogg before the raid gets overrunned by the immortal guardians. No one should be overtaken by Yogg. A player that does (nearly) nothing is better than a player that fights AGAINST you.
Tanks (we did it with 1 tank in 10 player mode and 3 tanks in 25 player mode) must just keep the adds away from the healers. Tank them AT LEAST 20yards away from Yogg. It is a common misbelief, that you should keep the adds low and interrupt, so they don't get healed. You can interrupt drain life. But that's not the source where most of the heal comes from. It's Empowering Shadows (
暗影强化
). And that's how it works: Yogg marks 1 (10 player) or 3 (25 player) immortal guardians. They get a huntersmark over them and will be renamed to "marked immortal guardian". 10 seconds later, they get a buff and heal everything in 20yard range. Even Yogg! That's the reason why you have to tank them 20yards away from Yogg. If you don't do that, Yogg will get healed for more than 2 million life (25 player mode). The only way to avoid that, is taunting them and kiting them away from the other adds. This is not easy. Especially not in 25 player mode, where you have 3 marked immortal guardians. That's the way how it was done back in patch 3.1. Don't do that. Just nuke him, how described!

Yogg got a new ability with patch 4.0.3a. People that get traped by constrictor tentacle, will be thrown up in the air, when the tentacle gets killed, and receive about 50% fall damage. This got us into some troubles, when we killed Yogg+0 again, shortly before the release of Cataclysm.
But this will not be a big problem at Level 85. If you're playing right, you won't drop that low, that you have to worry about the 50% fall damage. Cataclysm makes many wotlk boss mechanics absolutely trivial. Hitpoints got multiplicated by more than 5. In the last 2 addons, the hitpoints have only been doubled. Visit Algalon again, and you'll laugh about his collapsing stars and big bang. We have also done Yogg+0 at Level 85. It was a oneshot.
But don't think you'll PUG that, with 25 (or 10) green/blue geared (with no enchants/gems on the items, of course) retards from the tradechat, that have never seen anything higher than Saurfang on non hc mode. A friend told me about a PUG that had more than a douzen wipes at Yogg+1. 25 Lvl85 characters wiping on Yogg+1... I don't understand how that is possible. But well, you know how some people are.
If you really want to PUG that, do it via calender invite. Get friends, friends of friends, friends of friends of friend, etc. If you still have to fill some slots, get people from the tradechat that have killed at least Yogg+4 (look up on armory if they say the truth). If you don't find people who meet this criteria, get at least people that have ICC hardmode experience pre cata or ToGC experience pre ICC.
That's the way I've done it in late WotLK, and it did work. So it should work now as well.

Did this last night with 10ppl. Got like 4 guildies and 5 randoms from Tradechannel.
Most ppl never did Yogg. So we wiped a couple of times.
Phase 1 is easy. Don't spawn to many adds, cause this is just harder for your tank to tank all. Nothing more.
Phase 2 is the hardest part. 4 DPS must enter the portals, nuke all adds and nuke the brain.
We wiped here like 4-5 times cause DPS were to retarted to enter a portal.
On the 4th try it went great. There was 1 portal fase and the 4 DPS nuked the brain till phase 3. We only had some ppl low on the debuff and 1 was MC because he left the brainroom to late.
The 5th try all went well and we killed him with no trouble.
I won the tentacle btw :D

I am going every week in ULDUAR 25 for the fragments in order to craft the mace.I am also trying to do
Alone in the darkness @ yog saron,which the 3 last weeks i went, failed,but wasnt so bad.In 2 of 3 tries we went in ph3,but wiped of lack of sanity=MC.
Anyway i found out that the most importand is that the best 10 dps+shammy enter the brain anb burn it down
THE FIRST TIME THEY ENTER
to enter last phase asap,otherwise grp will fail.
Unfortunately the last week i went,we did it after some wipes with 1 keeper(freya ofc) but it happened what i mentoned(we entered last phase asap) and we killed the boss easy,without using freya's sanity restore.So that makes possible to pug 25 alone in the darkness.

I just did this, and with 10 people it was fairly easy to do after a couple wipes as people learned the fight (make sure if you pug that people are expecting this!). If you have enough dps so that you can just nuke the brain in phase two in one shot, sanity levels will not really be a problem unless people really screw up.
I will also say that having vent really will help for this fight. Having someone to call out when the portals will spawn and when to leave the brain and yell at people not moving together when linked will significantly increase your chance of success.

Went into Ulduar last night with my guild to collect some achievements, including a guild kill on Algalon, and things dropped like they were going out of style. 10 people, the least geared in 378s, most of the group in 397-403 with the occasional 410. Hard mode FL dropped in 20 seconds. Algalon went down in less than 30. We DPSed Freya down while she had 50 stacks of her debuff. We screwed up the Vezak hard mode, but what the hey, we're here and let's do Alone in the Darkness!
Pro tip: do not do this achievement thinking you can out muscle it. We wiped three times before I finally said screw it, get Freya in here and we'll get the achievement for Yogg+1. Coordination wise, Yogg+0 remains the toughest fight in the game, IMO. You can overpower the rest of Ulduar now, but the sanity mechanic, and people running AWAY on the ability you need to be close for and stacking when you don't need to, laughs at your 399 ilvl.

With item level 416 (!) gear available there now this fight is a retard check (as are all WoTLK raids tbh), nothing more tbh. You outgear the encounter like FIVE times (life and DPS/HPS wise) but there are still mechanics that you cannot outgear. Player going insane receives percentile buff to his damage and hp, having high gear makes him wiping the raid quicker.
So @ 85 short tacs for easy achievement:
-PH1 avoid green stuff, tank pulls adds near Sara where range DPS dispatches them
-PH2 kill tentacles, avoid green rays, brainlinked people run together. Get good DPS into portals to kill the brain in one go. Avoid loosing to much sanity inside.
-PH3 use heroism and nuke the living @#$% of Yogg Saron.
This is very much like Heroic LK. While enrage timer or standard damage attacks are no longer a problem, there are still instant kill mechanics that will wipe groups that don't know what to do. Trivial when all knows tacs, impossible when majority don't.
